I was mentioned earlier on in this thread regarding the 22B I own. I have had several cars in the last few years including an Escort Cosworth, M3, Z3M Coupe and an RS4 so I feel qualified to comment on the car. However, It's my first Subaru so I cannot compare it to other models like you guys. The 22B offers a huge amount of power and handling for the money. I am sure that a good type R would be not far of the mark but I guess that is like comparing an Enzo with a Veyron if you know what I mean. Most people in reality are not going to tell much difference as they will be unlikely to explore the limits. Using a 22B for everyday is fairly difficult and you will get sick of it. The gearbox is ok but a bit of a pain if you are in a traffic jam. Obviously they use a lot of fuel and they are very soft when it comes to parking dings. All the obvious stuff you would expect from a proper sport car. On the open roads of Scotland in any condition they are unstoppable. The only limitation of the car seems to be the grip does run away very quickly when it reaches its limit. Some cars drift, the 22B does something else! Cheers Nigel

I saw them when they had a modded 106 and then an old toyota previa people carier type thing. the toyota lady was upset as she was being help up by these tree huggers and her kids were left at the side of the road at school i guess waiting for her?

Turiff - Sunnyhill Motors - 22B for sale
twentytwobee replied to infiltrator2's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I think this car was at SM a few years back and I actually test drove it whilst looking for a suitable 22B. The car was fine but just too expensive for me. I also spotted it in Aberdeen at the end of last year and I am fairly sure it was an older chap that had it. All I can remember was it had a bit of smoke stain around the rear bumper but generally looked fine. There is something in my mind that it used to have an Auotsportif sticker in the back window which may indicate rebuild but that could be rubbish. Its a Jap import car as far as I can see. UK models have fogs on the front normally. -
I had a 1996 mint 26k miles escort cossie in petrol blue. It had a stainless exhaust and a chip taking it to a sceptical 240 bhp. I sold it after three months as its was too slow. The 22B would crucify it up to the 120mph mark due to the Jap gearing but ill keep an eye to see how things turn out.

Who's is/was the Spec C in Morrison Motors Turriff?
twentytwobee replied to twentytwobee's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I did sense that there was a little dyslexia there but chose to ignore it. I still own 22B #276 and intend to keep it but I am always looking! A year or two to go and the hawkeye (v9?) spec c will be about thee right price for me I hope. Trouble is that most spec c's are getting turned into grp N rally cars at the moment. The rally car sites have wanted ads for them! that might be why they are so rare in road going spec? -
From my experience the cossie will probably break down on the way. If its standard it will be the only one on the planet as even the die hards baulk at the cost of the replacement exhaust compared to a high quality SS alternative.

You know how it is, you are always looking at other toys......The trouble is that these car makers just get better and better, your favourite car is a moving target nowadays. -

Ill regret saying this but Id trade the 22B for one of these although the newer style spec C looks a bit nicer to be fair. -

Whats the story with the white Spec C at MMT at the moment? I had a look at it yesterday and they said that it was for sale on behalf of a person in Aberdeen? It had a BHP Developments sticker on it? -
Would that be the Dr with the gold Subaru?

Just an update> Wallace Performance turned out fine and the 22B turned out even better. 296 BHP from a car with little modification other than a decat exhaust. The car had a full tank of V-Power with no additives included. I am happy with that and it will stay the way it is as there is plenty power for what I use it for.

I was at the Calgary stage on Saturday afternoon where the Orange Mk2 was dumped in the scenery, real shame as that car sounded very good and had a huge amount of pace. Along came a white Mk2 about 10 mins later and threw itself off in exactly the same part of the stage which was a shame. The white car may be repaired but the orange car may need slightly more 'T' cut?! Not sure if anyone has the pics but I think there was an Evo7 very badly damaged on the Calgary section the hight before. I saw it on the back of a trailer and it looked like it was ready for the bin. I was talking to the guys 'McKinstry Motorsport' that hired the winning car while I waited two hours for a ferry yesterday and they said that the same car will be converted to gravel spec this week in Northern Ireland and it will be in the Bulldog Rally this weekend. Lets keep an eye on it as from what I saw of it its a beast of a car. Oh and glad to hear that the injured parties are on the mend, cars are easier to fix.

I am happy with the performance of the car and simply want to find out what its figures actually are. Some people are of the opinion that the standard BHP figure is a minimum, that would be nice! Ill just fill it with V-Power as I am fairly sure some documentation from the previous owner mentioned a UK fuel remap.

I run the 22B in April/May then another car in the Summer and the 22B back in October/November. I only use it fine days and normally wash it after every run depending on the conditions. Trust me, its cherished, thats why I am a bit weary of a power run/tweaks wrecking it!
-
Booked power run at WP next week. Ill let you know how I get on. Hopefully there will be no surprises.
-
The car has been Sorn'd since May as I have another car I run in Summer so I hope not or ill have to speak to the window fitters I had in at the time! I am taking it to the Tour of Mull rally (spectating of course!) next weekend and was hoping to find out if it was at its best for such a great long drive. I guess you only hear the bad stories about these rolling road places but I was not keen on any tweaking unless the car starts to really need it.

Oh and full off V-Power! if that makes any difference?
-
Would be interested on putting the 22B on a power run at Wallace Performance as its handy being in Aberdeen. From the website I see that its basically £50. Without getting contraversial is this wise or should I go elsewhere? Whats the guestime for the cars BHP as it sits with only an standard ecu, stainless exhaust and an uprated fuel pump???? I think 276 was the official figure so hopefully at least that!

Yes very nice, I only recognised it properly from the back????!!!!

Either my Mother (the one who nicks my 22B when I take it over) or my Auntie if it was along the road near Corran Ferry, We do a deal for Scooby owners, tell them where all the speed traps are! N -
Yes the guy I had out for a run was from Forest Avenue. I can drive the 22B quicker down that stretch of road than the 360 but I get freaked by the big dips in the tarmac where there are basically potholes on the river side of the Aberdeen direction followed by massive holes in the dry stone wall on the other side where drivers have ran out of talent. Its not hard to see what happens. The 360 is only about 2 inches of the ground and the bang the belly pan makes is scary so I have to back off on rough surfaces. I thought your were definitly off the road at the sharp left hand bend just after the straight at te rover garage at Blairs. You were hard on the brakes for ages and I guessed that there were too hot to bite. The 360 has Enzo discs and although it sounds weird they get stronger as they get hotter?> I was going to pass you when I came up behind but genuinely I have the upmost respect for how quick scoobs are even in basic form. Maybe next time when your legs are run out at about 150 ill be able to change up to 5th and then 6th ? Until then ill always beware of PPP cars like yours. Nigel

Ill need to set the record straight here. It was a black 360 Challenge Stradale and it was me driving! There was no way on earth I could have passed you as that car is mighty quick. I was taking a mate out to demo the car and he was screaming at one stage! The honest truth is that I grounded it at the front near Blairs on one of the bumps in the road and realised that major expense was looming so had to back off but I could never got past in a million years. I am now going to be told that your car is standard or even worse that you were not trying! However, I am sure that that very shiny finish is covered in flies now. The amount of time you braked for at Ardoe must have bed the pads in thats for sure! I must get a sticker for the 360 'My other car is a 22B'. Cheers Nigel
