About Stonkin

  1. Seems like lots of sad comments from a lot of owners. But hey, today is a new day and a new w'end, its gona be sunny and all the scooby buyers will be out in force. Thats what i'm telling myself anyway cheers people Christian
  2. Thats very true, you can now get hold of these cars very cheaply, therefore suiting the youngsters perfectly. All it needs is 1 person looking for a really well looked after car, wherever that person is, please call me
  3. Scoobytoo, the car has very few mods, just wheels and exhaust really and i dont have the originals. I cant imagine the extras this car has would be putting anyone off? If it was highly modified, then i can understand that theory completely. The car i'm buying is a private sale, so cannot trade it in there.
  4. Guys, I've had my Impreza up for sale for about 6 weeks now, had 2 views, 1 didnt know if he wanted a scoob or an M3 and i havent heard back, the other was quite young and couldnt get a decent insurance quote. Neither could fault the car in any way. Is this just a bad time of year to sell a car? Its on autotrader, SIDC, scoobynet, piston heads, 22B, have posters in the car I really need to sell this car by the end of the month or the Supra i have a deposit on gets sold. Would really appreciate any ideas? Thanks Christian
  5. i was there too last night with a couple of guys, first time, was surprised at the amount of cars there. Was nice to see loads of good scoobs together. Recognised a few cars, namely, Cliffs and a blue Type R with what i think were the BK 299's in Gold, used to have them fitted to an E30 BMW, looked lovely. Christian,
  6. any ideas on prices here guys? thanks,
  7. cant you poress F8 as normal during bootup? then choose safe mode
  8. LOL, i mean second hand PARTS not PRICES! :-)
  9. Jon, thanks for your reply, do you have any idea on cost for getting the parts you suggested and rough fitting price, obviously i'm referring to second hand prices. How are these parts stronger than my UK ones and would they affect, motorway speeds / revs? I appreciate your help with this, do you think (price being ok) this would be a better idea than me having my own box fixed. Would be nice for someone else to diagnose the car's fault, how happy would i be for someone else to take a look and say 'well its not your box, its.......' Cheers bud, Christian
  10. Guys, i've been having a think, 'if' in the future i up the power to around 350 ish, the uk box is gonna be pretty on limits. At this point, would i be better fitting another type of gearbox? a japanese type for example? are they any better? and, would the cost involved be similar to what i'm looking at paying anyway? RAC will pay up to £500 per claim so its gonna be costing me around £500 on top anyway. Trouble is i took the time to buy a car with lowish mileage (45,000) and good service history, i wouldnt really know the history on another box i would fit would i? thanks, Christian
  11. Ok Jon, i'll post the question now, thanks everyone with this.
  12. Ok Chris, Will either call about lunch time or may just pop down this afternoon. Thanks,
  13. Chris, I've been down to see you a couple of times about this issue, DBM UK impreza could you take a look at the thread laballed gearbox troubles and possibly get one of your techy guys to post an answer up for me. really want to get this sorted now, but just want to make certain the work being done (and money spent) is really what needs to be done. Very much appreciated, Christian
  14. yeah, subaru warranty has expired, i took out a 5 star one with RAC in Jan when i got the car, they only pay up to £500 per claim, i'm hoping this will be covered, SGT seem to think it will be, even though it was a known issue, they said as it wasnt a recall they would not help towards costs. So you dont think it can be as simple as 'tightning the nut' even though some on scoobynet say they have done this and the box has been fine for a couple of years. i hate problems like this, doesnt seem to be a definative answer and a known bill before the car goes in, bit like writing a blank cheque to a company to fix this. Would be interested if someone Technical at SGT could post on here to explain the issue better than i have. Christian, a guy with a sick impreza trying desperately to reduce his repair bill. :-)
  15. Jon, gear changes are certainly fine and even reverse is ok as far as it not poping out or anything, its jusy whiney and sounds very dry and is hard to select. I have allready spoken to Car Gears in Reading, they wanted: £325 + vat to remove and refit box £220 + vat to strip and rebuild + parts Also spoke to 3D Transmissions in Woodley, they wanted: £186 + vat to remove and refit £269 + vat to strip and rebuild + parts The parts required (as per technical buletin for this problem) from Subaru main dealer come to £387 + vat If it helps, the parts it says are required are: sleeve and hub assembly gear set - fifth gear ring - baulk locking nut locking washer gasket The places i mentioned above were not aware o this problem with subaru boxes, hence why i was going to a main dealer and wanted to know what the ACTUAL problem was and what i should be paying. There is a big difference between thinking you have a £200 odd bill compared to a £1000 odd bill. ?? Thanks for your help here Jon
