  1. IMO the SIDC folks are behaving for a change!! But the thread has gone a wee bit off topic lol
  2. yea it is a wee bit overpriced , cant rule out the s206 or similar as either
  3. yea should be ok for a little bit of fun with some decent boost, even when i do get back into a steady job and have a few quid to burn i wont be chasing silly figures either a MD321H or the T would suit me, the downside to the 2.1 is lag compared to the 2.5s etc so would rather have something that spools relatively quick and is still fun to drive than a mega horsepower lag monster lol
  4. Nothing exotic just plan on sticking with the 20G, not keen on throwing any more money than i need to at the car till im in steady employment again
  5. ahh gutted to hear that one, never nice hearing stuff like this
  6. ok if your only looking for 350/350 a normal STi would be perfectly suited, however your looking to do trackdays as well so i would recommend you go with the forged pistons etc as for head gaskets i went for the cometic steel triple layered jobby last time round and will use them again this time round they seem more than up too the job, ARP head studs the 11 ml ones are good for the power your after the 14 ml ones (i think) are mostly for higher power builds and people who have a fetish for large ammounts of boost, the WRX heads should be ok for 350 as well If your looking for a fully forged build try enginetuner i just picked up a 2.1 stroker in a Closed Deck Block with rear thrust conversion and 14ml headstuds for a pretty good price, you could go for the same 2.1 stroker in a open deck block or semi open deck (no need for the rear thrust conversion with these) and 11 ml head studs for just a little bit more than you mentioned in your first post hope this helps
  7. ahhhh coolio , just thought you had picked me up wrong or something Anyway good luck with the rest of the season, will hopefully be joining you for a few next season
  8. yup, Cullenmin`s one is worthy of thought
  9. thought you were away to houston min
  10. ive seen johns name a few times on MLR in relation to hill climbing time attack or what ever it might be and never posted it up, but saying on there we were getting upset on here which wasnt the case was a bit of a shocker TBH
  11. Hi, seen your beast yesterday and was pretty impressed to say the least Dont know where Don got the idea that we were all upset at your car and its achievements but as you can see its not the case, were all "especially me" in awe of it, as its the first time ive seen it run and im gobsmacked by its performance, hopefully ill catch you and John going for it some time in the near future whether its on a hill or on a circuit, im not fussy either way it will be a cracking day out for me
  12. With 100K spent on it i dont think he has a wife anymore
  13. lol now thats a guy who has seriously been bitten by the modding bug!
  14. Just wondering why you posted on MLR we were all upset at what him and his car has achieved there hasnt been one negative thing posted so far?, if anything were "ALL" singing his praises hence this thread, was going to ask over on MLR as im registered there but will keep it confined to here to avoid causing trouble
  15. 1.2 Nova, Still remember the reg as well D 112 XRS
  16. Excellent, When you do give me a shout and i'll make a point of comming down to watch you two slug it out
  17. how did you get on against him John were you in the same class?
  18. yea noticed lots of carbon goodies and what looked like a sequential shifter fitted as well Had a pretty good day TBH, i did plan on doing a few of these type of things this summer but due to my engine letting go then loosing my job it didnt happen, ohh well next year
  19. Gutted for him he was pretty keen to get started, still havent started mine yet either new RCM oil pump water pump and seals arrived last week just head gaskets to sort and im good to go so hopefully soon, excellent glad you enjoyed it yesterday, hopefully bump into you at a trackday sometime soon then
  20. GT35 ouch! Was actually amazed at how well this thing appeared to fly through the gears, i would have thought a GT35 on a 2.3 would have been a tad laggy but it didnt appear to have any lag at all for a big blower
  21. Plenty people have done it before you and come back to the classic, kind of says it all really
  22. you could pick up a pretty good Type RA right now for 7K, it belongs to Carl Davey, already modded to about 380(ish)
  23. yup, another classic man through and through Sell it and buy a RA or a type R or something would be my advise
  24. Damn it i was wanting a wee word with him as well, hows he getting on with his wee project then? How did you get on with the track then, you comming back again
