Whats he driving? Does having the car remapped remove the PPP map? I'd like to keep that map and switch to a higher power one as an when i feel the need to Rob2006, I am driving a STi9 MY05. I have had my car mapped by Wallace Performance twice now without any negative experiences. I have always found Russ to be very helpful and knowledgable. I have learnt alot from him whilst doing the remaps on my car - as I was present for all the mapping runs. The new version of the EcuTek Tek 3 software allows you to have 2 maps (switchable from the demister button) and launch control. Russ set all of these up on my car and it runs a treat. With regards to keeping the PPP map......it depends on what you are wanting as you can have one high boost map and one low boost map (keeping most of the prodrive settings) - but this all depends on what mods you have on the car (as if you have had the breathing improved it can be difficult to keep the boost from creeping). Launch control is basically a static rev limiter that limits the revs to a previously set level whilst the car is travelling slower than 10mph. Around the 4.5 - 5.5k mark works really well depending on how hard you like to drop the clutch. If you have any questions just give me a shout. Dave PS: I trust Russ with my car to the extent that I am going for stage 2 mods in the coming months.

Pah - well you would say that wouldn't you??? [] Dave

Yep - and i have to admit that the interior is rather nice - anyone want to sell me their leather interior????? Dave

Just to set the record straight I did not say that only people reading the forum could get this deal - that was an assumption made on your part and was incorrect. I only stated that you had to quote "SIDC" - not be a member or a reader - as this was the request from Gordon. The other comments you make I totally agree with the guys are a good bunch. Dave
-
This is for anyone, and these are unregistered cars, whereas you now only have used examples I believe. What's with ?????? Dave

Whilst down at Town & County this afternoon getting some bits done to the better half's Forester I was approached by Gordon the Sales Manager. The dealership have 4 un-registered STi Spec D's in Crystal Grey (the best colour by far) available for 07 plate registration in March. These used to be 28,630 otr and were reduced to 21,995 otr by Subaru this month. Now here comes the good bit - if you quote "SIDC Forum" when you enquire/order one then the price drops to 19,995 otr (6 months road tax) - that's a 2000 pound saving, not bad I thought. If anyone is interested then please just give T&C a call on (01224) 874333. The 2006 Model Year Impreza WRX STI spec.D has the following features as standard. Thanks dude. Dave

You could do a lot worse mate they are a lot of fun to drive and could keep a WRX honest on a backroad. All you have to do is make sure you are smooth with the steering inputs as the suspension is softer. A rewarding car to drive when I feel the need for a change from the STi (if the Mrs will let me have a shot that is). Dave

Shouldn't be import only from the far east (unless the 100 PCD is the problem) - who have you spoken to? I got mine through my contact at Checkpoint on George St, Aberdeen. Dave
-
The alloys are 8 x 18" BBS CH's with 225/40/18 Eagle F1's - definitely the best tyre I have ever had (you might have a different PCD from mine 100 vs 114.3). St3ph3n give me a chance dude - she is going to get some Scot Lowe mudflaps, front splitter, STi grille, tinted windows, rear spoiler and 18's - in the next 6 months or so. Then it will be performance mods so she should look and go brill. Thanks mate Crystal Grey is the best colour and the great thing is it is very rare up around me (3 CG STi's in Aberdeen according to the dealership). The little lady was offered a Forester STi instead of the XTEn, but she chose luxury over outright performance - an induction kit, exhaust, remap and/or turbo and it will be rather rapid. Thanks for all the positive comments guys very much appreciated. Dave
-
Well I managed to convince the Mrs to go for a Subaru.................. Dec 06 Forester XTEn - 2.5 Turbo (230ps) with the Touch Screen Sat Nav, Leather Interior & Electric Sunroof. I have to say that it is a lovely car to drive and has enough poke to keep things interesting on the back roads. I just finished waxing her this afternoon as the snow started - some timing? I'll have to wait till later on in the week to see if the 18" Kahns go on............. Anyway here are some pictures...........on the new addition to the driveway. Dave

An outstanding car and a credit to the builders and the not so patient owner. Well done sir. Dave

In response to using short ram for winter months: You don't need to change the CAI to short ram in the winter. I have had the K&N Typhoon on my car for close to 1.75 years and seen my fair share of rain and snow. The car has never skipped a beat even hitting standing water in the past has made no difference. As long as you don't go wading the car will be fine - or atleast mine has. Just remember though if you get a short ram or full CAI like mine below, you will need a remap or at the very least a trip to a rolling road for a fuelling dyagnostics run. These have been known in the past to cause some cars to run lean at the top end and so cause detonation and other bad things to happen. On the flip side I am aware of a STi8 PPP that has run a K&N Typhoon for 3 years without a remap and he has had no problems at all. My stance was that scooby's are expensive cars - it is worth getting it checked out properly. Dave

Yeah mate they came out quite well didn't they with both cars looking rather nice. I take it you are back down in Aberdeen now then - for how long? I get back onshore weather permitting on Monday - you still around for a pint? Dave -
1.542 mph, Does anyone own a faster Impreza than me ?
clutdav replied to johns's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Based on the formulae above.............. 05 STi 18700miles / 23months = 813.0435miles/month average 813.0435miles/month / 30days = 27.1014miles/day average 27.1014miles/day / 24hrs = 1.1292mph average over course of ownership. Dave -

No that is a valid point I forgot to remove the number plates before I uploaded the pictures to my photobucket account. Dave
