detanging Blobeye Front Headlights (Advice Needed)
irish al replied to STi_Bandit's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I used a hot air gun which was probably a lot faster than a hair dryer. You can remove the front grill and with a spanner remove the bolt holding on the white plastic lug holding the light in, that way you dont have to remove the two small screws fron the back of the bulb and its much easier. Al -
Slightly O/T : Performance mods, are they worth the money ?
irish al replied to Johnny50's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Managed to get 291bhp and 298lbft from my wrx. Total cost for all parts needed to get this was approx £1200 using new and second hand parts. Headers, uppipe, downpipe, mid, centre and backbox. Warlbro fuel pump, uprated sparkplugs, panel filter, samco intercooler hose and a remap. Theres also a lot for labour which usually gets forgot about. Everything else like brakes, suspension, gauges, etc was just additional cost but wasnt completely necessary. -

Towards the end of last year the car had its 15min of fame when it was put on the rollers and the sounds from the exhaust and dump valve were professionally recorded by a company called Visual Scisnces to be used in a new came called Velocity. For this I was going to have a mention in the credits, get paid and have a copy of the sounds emailed to me. Well it looks like the company have went bust, so i wont be getting either of the above and no credits on the game as it aint going to be made anymore. I know there were a few others asked as well so heres how I found out www.sundayherald.com/54001 Al

Fair enough, just annoyed as it happens all the time, espically on that section of road with all the crap in the middle.. End up taking the girlfriends car places now to stop people looking for a race. Anyway I have a cracked manifold and was driving off boost so definately wasnt looking a race. You can see how well it goes when your beside me at crail if you want.

Looking good [H], shame its going to get dirty within a couple of days with the amount of salt on the roads. -
Did you actually go down to the end of the road round the roundabout and back up the road again just to catch up with me ???
-
Hardly a race but a slight persuit may of followed in a rage of anger

espically with the tube who lives not far from me in Broxburn and drives a new shape blue 55 plate sti type uk. Apologies for the hand signals but u did just pebble dash the front of my car with half the crap and stones etc from the central reserve after overtaking on the crosed white lines like he had something to prove. No wonder we all get tared with the same brush. Save it for the track if you think your fast enough. Rant over.

Cant recommend any shops who sell the spacers as I couldnt find any either and ended up making my own. You could always pay a car audio shop to make some spacers up and fit them for you. I would do it for much cheapness but I am moving house and my tools etc are packed up.
-
Halfrauds must of had so many returns on that fitting kit you would think they would of changed it by now. I bought one last year with the same problem. The tube behind the counter didnt believe me until he tried to put a 165mm speaker inside it. It must be right he said if its in the catalogue. Spacers are easy to make from MDF using you old speaker and new speaker grill as templates for the holes. 12mm MDF should be fine. Sometimes you can remove the mesh from the new grills, flip the plastic bit over and fit it between the speaker and the door. Have done this once but I had to remove the protruding plastic bits the screws went through. This isnt the best option as the plastic may split, and is definately not as good as the MDF. Halfrauds isnt all bad as they sell screws with the exact same thread as the ones holding on the original speakers, except they are longer to accomodate the MDF spacers.

For the tea ladies "top o the morning to ya" [] and thanks for feeding me and keeping me warm through out the day. Again nice to meet new people and bleather about cars n stuff. Peter thats a nice sound from your induction kit. Some were happy with thier results, others not so happy and unfortunately with a cracked manifold I didnt even get a run on the rollers. Am sure thier will be plenty of modding and changes before the next rolling road.

Its for this reason alone, and nothing to do with anyone or anything else that the suggestion was made. Simply a place where people who can post what they want, when they want and as often as they want. I dont care if it happens or not cause at the end of the day i will still have my subaru, meet people face to face, attend the events and enjoy the good things this forum offers.

To be honest I DONT want "another area to talk crap in", but on the other hand I dont want to be reading a lot of shite on a car club forum, thats what MSN is for.
-
I am happy with whats here too, it is just a suggestion to try solve some of the problems that keep making people leave and others unhappy.
-
Dont get me wrong G.T., I dont mean section four to be used for bullshit as posts containing such crap should be deleted, could just to be used as the title suggests "Daily Life Issues and General Crap". As funny as it would be I am sure it will never get called this and probably oobsters title "Non Scooby Related" would be a better choice to keep people at ease.

I appreciate this but SS covers all of scotland with a lot of members. It takes enough effort to sort through all of SS posts without having to read through all the posts england members put up as well.

For peace and harmony in scottishscoobies wtf can we not keep the existing sections and have the main forum divided into an additional two sections: 1) Events 2) For Sale & Wanted 3) Section to discuss Subaru Impreza Cars, Technical Issues, Modifying etc 4) Daily Life Issues and General Crap After all I believe this "copy and paste" info from the home page is what SIDC should be about ??? Welcome to the SIDC The aims of the club are: to create a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences of Subaru Impreza vehicles; to improve the buying power of individual SIDC members; to ensure that Subaru Impreza servicing and vehicle maintenance standards continually improve; to encourage the development and manufacture of after sales products by the establishment of a market for Subaru Impreza parts and accessories; and to organise social events for Subaru Impreza owners and their families and to encourage the improvement of members' driving abilities.

Am sure it was for the letter spacing, they never mentioned the typeface. Yes www.scottishscoobies.co.uk is at the bottom. Iam not pissed off because I know they are illegal but giving me two tickets was a bit much.

After the success the police had getting £30 out of me with Part 1 for a dirty number plate they must have decided to release part two, and thats exactly what they did. Pulled me in for a "routine check", so he says anyway. Goes round the back of the car and his bumchum gets out a 15cm ruler. What the hell are they up to I ask myself. Comes back round, Sir, do you realise your rear number plate is illegal. Sorry officer, I didnt realise that, I just bought them on the net. What could I say as he new I was going to lie before I opened my mouth. What rolled out of his mouth next took the biscut - "I am afraid I am going to have to give you a fixed penalty of £30". Ok Officer I said - "Thats fine Sir but I also have to give you a fixed penalty of £30 for your front number plate as well" I couldnt believe what he had just said. He then proceded to caution me once for the front plate and once for the rear plate. Didnt check anything else on the car, not even the tax disc. Wasnt much of a "routine check" Can thay charge me for both plates and is there any way to get out of this ??
