About Fitzy

  1. If you do no more than 9k per year then you could argue that the Evo and Scooby are similar to run, as both will need 2 services per year. That being said if you use a main dealer the Evo will cost more to service, but only by about £20-£30 or so. My Scoob is my daily runner, and I guess I do about 10-12k per year at the moment, which I think would cost more in the Evo, due to the 4.5k service intervals. From what I have read and heard the 4WD system on an Evo is more fragile than on a Scoob, but then the Evo is a pentium processor on wheels and has bundles on electronics and wizzardry whereas the Scoob has a LSD and a viscous coupling and thats all, so there is less to go wrong so it stands to reason that its more robust. I dont think gearboxes are a problem with either car, both can take quite alot of power and abuse. The only thing I dont agree with is the Evo being more tunable than a Scoob. I am seeing more and more 400bhp+ P1's running standard internals, reliably. The right mods and a re-map and its achievable, so power wise, both can go as far on standard internals. That being said the standard VF28 will only do about 340bhp, so a new turbo is needed to get this. I love both the Scoob and the Evo. I think I have more faith in a Scoob as I do think it less fragile, because it is more simple. I would never use an Evo everyday like I do my Scooby. That being said an Evo would pee all over most Scoobs, but thats becasuse its a computer on wheels....
  2. Test drove an MR FQ-340 and loved it! It was quick, felt really sure footed and quite forgiving when you screwed up, which someone like me would do.....alot! I really like them, although I dont like the 4500k service intervals which even on the newer models still stand....I think a Spec-C is one of the few Scoobs able to compete....the UK models dont touch the Evo IMHO.
  3. Never heard of a larger turbo model. I think he has told you a porkie pie mate! Standard STI's have 265bhp and Brembo calipers all round. If it has a PPP it will have a certificate with it (it should have anyway) and it may well have a different backbox, although there are not really many tell tale signs a car has the PPP fitted in looks and performance! lol... so they have to provide a certificate! I believe the JDM cars have a larger turbo and with a UK fuel re-map may well produce 295bhp, but if your car was bought from a UK dealer new by the previous owner then it is not an import.
  4. Definitely not a WR1. Sounds like an STI, if so it will be 265bhp in standard form and 305bhp if it has the PPP fitted (they say 305bhp but in reality it will be less). An '05 STI should go for about 16-17K I reckon.....
  5. As far as I know a .vob file is a DVD Video Object File and is basically an MPEG2 stream and audio stream. Its the file that contains all of the actual movie data itself. You can edit these files but you need to have an MPEG2 editor to do so, a good editor will enable you to look through the movie frame by frame and edit as you want. I dont know of any good ones, or free ones either unfortunately.... Sorry not much help I'm afraid. Good luck though mate....
  6. I agree Stormy....the new RB320 should have been an RB350 minimum.....Mitsubishi are getting a reliable 360bhp out of their 2 litre and are putting it on the road and giving it a 3 year warranty and Subaru cant even release anything with more than 320bhp from a 2.5 litre.....whats going on! Why spend 30k on an Impreza when you can buy an Audi A4 thats a more comfortable 4 door saloon....lets face it, thats all the new Impreza is...its just a 4 door saloon that drinks lots of fuel! [] Lets hope the new Impreza's are special like they used to be!! Good job the JDM's are still good and Litchfield are making them special as well....the new Ford does look very good though....300bhp, 4wd and I bet its lighter than an Impreza to....
  7. I heard that good ol' St. Nik also wore Green until Coca Cola got their hands on him and put him in red?
  8. Well the new Evo X looks pretty good, the new Ford Focus RS looks very nice and 300 horsies......Subaru have got some work to do I think, I hope the new Impreza is better than the last few.....I wonder if Ford are sticking to the Rally bread heritage and putting a 2 litre in it? I think its such a shame that Subaru have put 2.5 litres in the Impreza now....not really rally bread anymore [] Good job the JDM cars are still 2.0 litre for those that want the real rally bread cars! []
  9. Looks good and mean.....nice car.....its a close one between the original RB5 and the new RB320.....
  10. Excellent! Did this twice and it was one of the best annual events....great fun, and always have a good laugh in the evening....hopefully I'll get some details through soon....[]
  11. I drove it for the first time in about a fortnight a little while back and it will probably be off the road over winter now...dont like being attacked by gritter trucks! I have had it for about 4 months and have done about 2000 miles since then, and thats because I drove it everywhere when I first got it!
  12. The blue TypeR is sitting on 18 inch Superleggaras, my P1 is on 18 inch P1 alloys and the black TypeR looks like its on 18 inch WR1 wheels. Thats about as big as you want to go on a classic....19's would ruin the handling and would probably rub the arches as well.....
  13. Ahhh Lubes.....your speciality Monkey Boy! [][]
  14. Nice one mate...looks good in white to! Good move getting into a 3 door classic.......best ones yet! [] What version is it mate?
