BIG MASSIVE THANKS TO GREER SPORT :-)
Bladerider replied to scoobymadburd's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I think SIDC would probably see that as free advertising, so I've sent you a PM with the phone number. -
I was in Largs today and I saw seven Impreza's in about 1.5 hours. I saw two silver, one red with a very illegal front plate(nice), one very tasty black STi (my favourite colour) , two green, and a very shiny looking P1. BTW, it was too nice a day to be in a car so I was having fun on the FireBlade.

Your not alone mate. Mine was vandalised also. In the wee sma' hours of Tuesday morning somebody threw a brick at my car damaging the roof, it could so easily have been the windscreen. There was more damage to come. On Friday evening, the car in front of me swerved sudenly. I didn't see why until it was too late. I now have a busted bumper and splitter, and bits of dead deer all over the car. I didn't kill it, it was lying there already dead.

I might get them, just for a larf!!! I could give the ladies pair to my new girlfriend. ('cos the wife wouldn't appreciate them) Well, I can afford to buy stuff again. I start my new job on Monday. My previous employer has also come up with a revised redundancy compromise deal. It's the amount I asked for, to avoid taking them to a tribunal. So things are looking up.

It was only a matter of time before something like this went on sale. I'll go halfers with you Dougster. I'll have the mens and you have the ladies. I'm sure everybody knows about your cross dressing by now.

I bought PIAA wiper blades three years ago. Total waste of money in my opinion. The drivers side snapped off at the tension arm after two weeks (very thin metal, extremely poor quality). The passenger side lasted a bit longer, (about two months) before it started leaving really bad streaks. They were about double the price of normal blades, but in my opinion were only worth 50 Pence. I emailed the supplier and the manufacturer about them . PIAA ignored me and the supplier told it wasn't their problem. If I were you I'd just buy a set of blades from Halfords, but wear a disguise if you do, in case somebody recognises you as you go in.

It's all too common now. It takes the fun out of the bidding when someone uses an auction sniper program. There are many auction sniper programs available, some are free to use, some require a subscription fee. I never use them myself, I just have a figure in mind of the maximum I'd be willing to pay. If I get beaten, then so what, there will be other times. There's also a very simple way of beating the auction sniper programs at their own game. I've done it many times.

I went to talk to someone, so I missed Del's big speech. Can somebody PM me what was said. I wouldn't want to miss anything. Cheers!

Black is now officially the most common colour of Impreza in the Irvine/Kilwinning area. Over the past few days, I've met two more black Impreza'a in my town. That now makes six. I've given both of them one of the flyers that Dougster gave me, and I've asked them both to come along tonight.

I'm in Ayrshire. I can't understand how it could be cheaper for the company to bring in contract workers to replace us. The contract techicians get paid a lot more the we did. When I first started, there were about two dozen techs. Every time somebody left, they were replaced with a contract tech. On Tuesday there was only two of us left. We were both called into the office and told it was cheaper to hire contractors. Therefore was not in the company's interest to have technicians on the payroll. So we were sacked right there and then. Well, they did offer to let us work out our notice period, but at £70 per week travelling costs I decided it was best to bale out. I've just found out, lob seekers allowance is only £55 per week. My bills alone are £800 per month. I also need food, so the absolute minimum I could survive on would be five times the JSA payment. I have enough money to get by for about six weeks but after that, if I don't have a job i'll have to sell the bike and the car. To put things in perspective. Yesterday in Ayr, I saw a joung girl, sitting curled up on the pavement, obviously living rough. Her clothes were filthy her hair was filthy and she looked so sad. She looked at me as I walked past and we made eye contact. In that brief moment, a lot of thoughts went through my mind. I couldn't help feeling sorry for her. Normally I just walk past people like that, but there was something different this time. I felt that no matter how bad things are going for me, there are always people much worse off. So I just turned round and went back to her and gave her all the money I had in my pocket. It wasn't much, just under £4, but she was so grateful. I wish I could have done more for her.

Cheers Del. That last post i did was just ten minutes before I got bagged. So, come what may, I WILL attend this meet as it may be the last one I can afford to go to for a while.

This afternoon, I received a notice of compulsory redundancy. I was offered 30 days notice, or wages in lieu. So, with immediate effect I am now unemployed. I need a job!!! Does anybody know of any employer hiring at the moment. I'll do anything (within reason). I'm qualified as a debug technician but ideally I'd like to get out of the electronics industry and try something new.

Hi Phil, I wanted mine done with the user name in white letters. (Capital 'B' , the rest in lower case) INTERNAL please Cheers

No Del, trains don't run from my town to Kilmarnock. Anyway, after the last fiasco with the train at Christmas I think I'll stick to driving. Scotrail customer services are still looking into my compensation claim. Anyway I might not be attending this one. I need to pick up my kitten (his name is Scooby) from the vet in West kilbride at 19:30. He's getting his knackers chopped off. I told him about what's going to happen and he seems fine about it. In fact he was purring when I told him. I can only make short journey's at the moment because I have a hole in the radiator. So if I do go, I'll be a bit late.

Are you a SIDC member Andy?
-
Yeah Del, do you mean 'on' the limit or 'at' the limit? There is a big difference. Just imagine the scenario; Stopped for doing over 140mph. "Honest officer, I was driving on the limit, Del told me to.
-
Dougster, I don't lurk, I just browse the internet all day (when I should be working). I just happen to have the SIDC forum as an open web window. Ok, you win! I'm lurking here all day every day.

I forgot to mention, £10 is an excellent price. I'm sure you'll sell this very quickly. (Normally £14.65 plus delivery) (I'm a tight fisted git, I wouldn't sell mine that low, that's for sure!)

I bought about a years supply from Pentland Components just before the price went up. I think I've only used about 3 bottles from the 14 I bought. Actually, I only use it at weekends! I don't use any during the week 'cos I'm in commuter mode. I think the traffic flow can sometimes get up to nearly 40mph on the way to work in the morning. Not very often though.

I just copied this from the DVLA website. It confirms that at present we in Scotland are still exempt from from having to supply number plate suppliers details on our number plates. However the registration of number plate suppliers scheme (RNPS) will be extended to Scotland in the near future. Extension to Scotland and Northern Ireland Extension to Scotland and Northern Ireland 3.3 At present, the supply of number plates in Scotland and Northern Ireland is completely unregulated. It is very easy for anyone to obtain plates showing a registration mark for a vehicle with which they have no connection whatever. 3.4 The fact that the scheme does not operate throughout the United Kingdom undermines its operation in England and Wales. Therefore in order to provide secure, effective and consistent control over the supply of number plates on a UK ? wide basis it is necessary that Scotland and Northern Ireland operate the same scheme. 3.5 Separate consultation exercises have been undertaken in Scotland and Northern Ireland in August 2002 and January 2004 respectively. In both instances the proposal to extend RNPS to Scotland and Northern Ireland was well received and generally supported.

Yeah, Dougster, no need for the tape measure. I'm sure we'll all agree you have the smallest one.
-
Aye Dougster, no wonder you got done. You needed a magnifying glass to see it. Looked cool though!
-
They were wrong to tell you that. The regulation they were referring to only applies in England and Wales, not here. We're much more civilised in Scotland.
-
You can legally have a smaller plate if you drive an import. I had www.fanctplates.com make me up a set of plates to the specifications set out below. I always keep a copy (obtained from the DVLA web site) in the glove compartment just in case. It came in handy when the size of my plates were questioned at my recent M.O.T. test. ___________________________________________________________________________________ " Size and spacing of characters: special cases 14A. ? (1) This regulation applies in relation to any vehicle imported into the UK which, (a) does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval; ( is so constructed that the area available for the fixing of the registration plate precludes the display on the plate of a registration mark in conformity with the requirements of regulation 14. (2) In relation to a vehicle to which this regulation applies - (a) each character in the registration mark must be 64 millimetres high; ( the width of each character of the mark, other than the letter "I" and the figure "1", must be 44 millimetres; © the width of every part of the stroke forming a character in a mark must be 10 millimetres; (d) the spacing between any two characters within a group must be 10 millimetres; (e) the vertical spacing between groups of characters must be 5 millimetres; (f) the width of a margin between the mark and the top and lateral sides of the registration plate must be not less than 5 millimetres; (g) the space between the bottom of the mark and the bottom of the registration plate must be not less than 13 millimetres; but, within that space, the space between the bottom of the mark and the top of the name and postcode of the person by whom the plate was supplied must be not less than 5 millimetres."[3] Signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport. David Jamieson Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department for Transport 24th October 2002

Waiting very patiently.
