Scottish Scoobies > Map of Members Distribution
st3ph3n replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Cal I tried to add Knockhill to the map but it's added dunfermline instead. If you're admin on the map you can maybe do it better. Would be good to add some other places like dealers, specialists, popular meet locations etc. -

I see they've changed to the Yahoo maps API. That's quite nice. I'll get my geeky coat. -
Andy, do you not need to radio Air Traffic Control for permission to take off before giving the scooby some beans?

Craig, I never noticed your thread with regards to the surprise for the wee lad, hence why I never asked about stickying it. The events section requires next to no moderation, so unless an event appeals to me then I don't generally read it. As much as I think an evening in the pub with the Aberdeen boys would be a great laugh it is unfortunately a bloody good distance away so I never peeked in the thread to see what it was about. So if ANYONE thinks something is deserving of a bit more publicity then you or anyone at all please let me or Brian know and we'll do what we do. -
I think you can usually spot the difference between a genuine petrol head/enthusiast and a "boy racer" by the conduct about town. I've been on more runs, long and short ones, than I can remember with the guys on this place now and I don't think any of them will deny that we enjoy a good spirited outing. But what I have never seen is speed or risk in built up areas or when other cars are about. It's not worth it. Long may sensible enjoyment continue, and not so sensible when we get to the track.

I don't disagree with your sentiments Craig. For the large part the events section IS very well used and long may it continue, as is the for sale section, and the new off topic section is also helping to keep everything much more tidy. Santa cruise actually has its own forum, so really discussions about it should probably take place in there if we're being particularly pedantic about things. Santa Cruise is obviously very important for the club and it's not just as simple as a normal event due to all the other organisation with regards to the fund raising etc. We have a lot of lurkers and irregular visitors who only check our main SS section and it's important that the Santa Cruise stuff is visible to them as they include details about hats, stickers etc. etc. as well as the event itself So I'm saying that yes events have and will continue to be confined to the events section unless the moderation team feels the need for them to be in the general section. Looking back to earlier in the year the Crail ultimate car club was left in general as it was important for the club to have a good presence at this. Once said event has passed the thread will be unstickied and moved to the events section and confined to the great history of the club. -

These are in general so that everyone gets a chance to see them and because they're not just events as there is a lot of other organisation that goes into it before hand, often with people having responsibilities to do things such as the buying of presents etc.. Also, only 3 of them are events, one is an annoucnement that tickets are available for a raffle. I think Ally's comment is in response (quite rightly) to Kloon's comment that I imagine is insinuating there is some sort of divide. I thought we'd got past that rubbish? -
Alan, when doing anything suspension related you have to factor in "will I need to check the geometery after this?" If it's a yes then you're better getting it all done at once so that you only have to splash out on geometery once. No use getting suspension components put on and not getting decent geometery dialled in too of course.

Good stuff Cal. How's the ride quality over bumps? The Teins work great on the track, but sometimes it does feel a bit rough on the pot hole filled roads.

You need a bigger scoop for the bonnet + the rubber seal under the bonnet also. So yes it's not cheap. But the IC itself bolts sraight onto the brackets.

Dave I'm guessing you have IE7. The forum software and it don't get on. There is a fix which will hopefully be applied soon. With regards to your oil temps, and going by a conversation at Peter's on Saturday evening with the rest of the OSIDC - where abouts in the engine is your oil temp sensor located? We were discussing differences in temps between the different locations in the engine. My sensor is fitted into the oil gallery above cylinder 3, as per PSI3's recommended location. I believe the temps here are higher than in the sump, which is where the O-adapter/doughnut thing is located? I was thinking about one of the Zerosports thermostats as it would be good for trackdays to lower the temps, although I never peaked above 115 at the last one.

Aye, that'd be me. I do remember seeing some HIDs in the background. I hope I was driving sensibly []

Never had any problems with red stuff pads ont he WRX. On my third set of fronts and moved to my first set of rears now.

On a "standard" 2 litre block the 18g will spool up quicker than the 20g. You're going to have to work the revs a bit more with the 20 to keep it on boost. But you'll get more top end with the 20g. I'd imagine if you want big numbers the 20 is the choice, but from A to B there'd be nothing in it. Email Andy and tell him what you're looking for and I'm sure he'll give you a good answer. I think you'd need the remap for the full benefit of the headers. Oh and you could do the current done thing and switch to running 10% methanol and 90% V-Power.

Obvious choices - Either porting your existing headers or getting a new set like the GT Spec or Gruppe S or such like. Upgrade the turbo, this is a great read - http://andyforrestperformance.co.uk/16307.html

I think it's probably politically incorrect to use gyppos and also to be accusing the gypsies of doing this, so can we please keep everything factual.

Have you tried the events forum? []

Then let it die FFS!

Jim's would have been WRX ones rather than STI. Probably where the difference is.

I saw somewhere where we could get our names on red santa hads for only £4 a hat!

What a right *******. Will keep my eyes peeled. Hope you get it back soon.
