Do anyone want a Group buy on the thermostat.... Where does the thermostat go? What does it look like? I only see 120degrees at KH and i'll come off the track normally before that. Thanks for the info Dave[Y] See you learn something new eveyday. Always something to buy even when you think you've all things covered.[] It's never ending but i still love it.
-
I'll take a couple m8

Dave...what an uprated thermostat do and do i need one?

Sound like warped disc or shat pads.

I used 15mm-16mm oil hose from Pirtek. You'll need 4 T- pieces too
-
The only guy i know that has a 18G on STi 7 type UK is Greg Green but he's not on this forum...so i'll need to pass on that one. Ypu cpuld always ask gumball as he had a 20G on his STI 8..

You'll need a oil catch can for a few reasons. 1.Because that you are running the upper extremes of your engine's capabilit, you'll want the fueling to be spot on. 2.When running more power your crank throws oil up the breather system which in turns get oil into the turbo inlet hose.Oil get burned away by the engine once oil goes through the turbo. 3.This inturn lowers the octane value of you fuel by a few octane which can cause your engine to det.You know what det means.....melted pistons.Fuel + Oil=lower octane of fuel. 4.You could vent the breathers to atmosphere but the problem with is(which i've encountered)oil getting thrown under the car and hitting the downpipe or exhaust which makes your car smoke like a bandit. 5.Plus when venting the breather to atmoshere, your oil comsumption will be undetected.I used about 2 litre of oil when running this way.(Not good in my books). 6.By fitting an oil catch can,the breathers will be collected to the pipe work on the can and collecting oil as it should.Your car will be running safer as the vented oil is no longer going back into the engine to get burnt away like a standard turbo charged car.(Good idea) 7.Running the above system is absolutely fine until you have to empty your oil catch can...Say that your scooby sump holds 4.5 litre of oil when at normal level but when running your car hard like on track or back road, your car will breath/vent oil through the breathers into the oil catch can.If your 1 litre oil catch can becomes full that means your sump only has 3.5 litre of oil(low level)...this can be dangerous if undetected and can need to engine failure.(Not so good) 8.By fitting an oil catch can that is baffled and returns oil to your sump is probably the best idea.Cossie engines are prone to breath heavily so the system that i've got on my scooby was really based on Ford Cossie Oil Catch Can system. 9.By fitting an oil catch can you will need to block off the holes in your turbo inlet hose or replace it with one that has no holes in it like the samco one which you can get from RogerClarkMotorsport. But i think it might be for a 3" turbo inlet only. This retail at £217.88 + vat. 10.The oil catch can that i've got is what is listed below but i got the pipe work and fittings from Pirtek. The fitting replaces the sump plug and the oil return hose is steel braided rubber oil hose and rated to over 120 degrees. The other hoses are just normal oil hoses and doesn't need to be heat proved. Cosworth Oil Separator (All Cosworths) £110.00 exc VAT£129.25 inc VAT No fingers was hurt when typing this. I hope this can help yous all that are looking for an oil catch can. I think i'll need to go for a wee nap now. Just ask if you need anymore help/info

Nice one...i wished i had a day off work to look after my kids... Just put 10% meths in my car and it's absolutely flying....yeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Well worth it for the meth...works out cheaper than V Power at 60p per liter..
-
And yeh the meth is a good idea too....use high boost for V Power + Meth and low boost for V Power only ala G.Mac style[] AndyF will be the man to ask.. But if you went for meths too you may need to run bigger injectors as G.Mac is running 95% injector duty cycle. Plus by then you've done all that you are probably best changing for some Samco Hose like turbo inlet and I/C hose set. and you may need a oil catch can turbo too. It's never ending once you start....and forgot to say that a Boost Controller will be a good idea too. Chill and think about it. PS...Why are you not at work by now?
-
I would fit the turbo and headers at the same time but if you could only do 1 at a time,i would fit the headers first and then the turbo followed by a remap..... 18G will spool up quicker and will give about 370bhp,20G will spool up slightly later but will give 370 to 400bhp.. For B Road blast i would probably go 18G and can do Crail @ 12.4sec as proven by G.Green in his bugeye STI. But either way both turbo will be great.

Ive seen that myself too

1 - If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column . 2 - Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question . 3 - The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least) 4 - Buy a newage 5 - Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles 6 - Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import 7 - Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like Andy Forrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage) 8 - Sell the Newage and buy a Classic 9 - Always wait till the engine is nice and warm before giving it full pelt and let it cool down befrore switching it off 10 - Upgrade your brakes before modding the engine 11 - A VTA dumpvalve isnt really a good idea unless your car is getting remapped to compensate for it. It will momentarily make your car run rich as the ecu gives fuel for air which has been dumped and not recirculated. All you are missing is the gay noise. 12 - Solid rear droplinks and a decent suspension geometry set-up are probably one of the best sub-£100 modifications you can do to a standard car. 13. new ages will undertseer when at the limit 14. If you have a classic get Strut Braces. The improvement is outstanding! If you have a new age...no luck! loL! 15. Clean out the boost solenoid once in a while and dont fill engine oil right up to max. 16.Go to the SIDC track days at knockhill, you get free tuition from an instructor if you want (plus ensure you wear Cat boots far better that way!!!!) 17. Love every minute of driving and owning it (it will make handing over the credit card much easier) 18. Goto meets/Knockhill/Crail and tell us who you are. We don't bite sometimes

Wuz is your man for fitting a newage STI I/C to a classic....look below

Nica idea Cal but I think SIDC members are already easy enough to spot Is that....Would you kiss a rabbit between the ears one?
