so one for and one against how easy they are to work on.
But i suppose it's a about having the right equipment(oo er missus).
I haven't got an engine crane or block and tackel so it would quite a job to remove the engine on my own.
btw did you lift or drop the engine?
sorry to hear about your probs.
a 2.5 short block only cost £1100 and most of the parts just transfer across from your block, and you told me you liked spannering you old golf...............................
just a thought!
and plent people on here would lend a hand in such a great project!
can't you do the work yourself? a crank regrind with bearing shells is about £150, then you need a gasket set for about another £160ish. Once again it just shows how much people are scamming us out of.
morning! who gets up this early on a sunday.
i'm only cos i had a bloomin phone call from the missus, do you want to go out cos its nice, no i want to go back to bed and have nightmares about cans of coke for a pound!
(bit of a in joke for those who don't understand!)
yeah...
1st reomve the cup holder, theres 2 screws either side at the top. move the gear stick gator and there's another 2 at the bottom ( you'l find them).
2nd theres 4 screws that hold a "cage" in place, remove them and slide " cage" out.
and finally there is 2 screws holding the actually radio in place.
yours sincerly!

after having a race with a escort cossie tonight (privite road of course!) i've come to the conclusion that my 11 year old scoob handles like a boat!
so.............. (deep breath) i'm after some advice to do with uprated bushes, droplinks (assuming that they are those thing on the rear anti roll bar connected to the stabilizer bar) anti roll bars front and back, and fineally the springs and struts. on and can some one explane about top mounts.
so wheres the best to get some stuff from and how much are indivual bits, can't afford the whole lot in one go.

There has been a few 'staged' pics knocking about recently, one of a audi a3 in many bits, but no marks on the floor where stuff had slid, landed, and no marks on a tree it had supossedly hit.
just my 2p worth.
i have to ask......... wot type of seat is that?
i have a brixtax one in the front but she's getting a bit big for it now ( 5 months today).
thanks
julian.
