Marks can trow you off a little though I think. It looks like its okay because you assume that if its round one more tooth then it will be too far one way or the other, but its actualy not. Dont know if that made sense??

Right... Had that problem a few years back on my first scooby. Your right in what your saying about the N/S pullys. They are on the rock and want to spring off cam where as the O/S cams are okay and sit well. I had the specail tools for setting the timing and I couldnt get it to run properly, had the car at a subaru garage and still wouldnt run. Almost had the heads off and then I gave the car to a rally prep company and they tried it with the tools too....came up a blank. That was until they threw away the tools and simply held the N/S cams with Vise grips to stop them from turning. Once it was set this way the car ran as sweet as a nut Now I never bother about special tools. Just use the vise grips or you can use a spanner on the nuts, but make sure you dont slacken the pullys. It sometimes works first time you try, if so its great, but be prepared for a few tries. I take it you know how the tensioner works? Compress it in the vice and slip a pin or a small screwdiver in then fit it and set the belt. Dont mean to sound like an Ass for saying that, just making sure The secret is realy just patience. Take your time and get a second pair of hands to hold those pullys

Peter Without having the car in front of me its hard to say The list is endless. First of all, check the power at the fuse/relay box under the bonnet. Its on the N/s wing. The pump should be powered through FBS 5 (it looks like a little glass box) Check it out and make sure its not blown

Okay, time for a change from the norm for the next Central meet. I have decided to bin the usual meet n' meal at a pub for the next month. So here is the plan. Sunday, August 28th. The meeting point is Dobbies Garden Centre, Stirling (junction 10 on the M9 North bound) If we meet there at around 10:30 Its just 2 minutes away from a Sainsburys and a Mc Donalds too The plan is to make an afternoon of it. 1)We all meet at the start point and have the banter for a while 2)Get the cars organised into a couple of groups if the numbers require so 3)Head off into the countryside for a short run ( a couple of hours and only around 60 miles) 4)Return from our Sunday drive, finishing back in Stirling. 5)End the day with a Chinese Buffet meal in the Town Sound okay so far?? The run will be a "one of a kind" Depending on the numbers, there will be one,two or three groups of cars. No maps will be given out, instead I will have nominated leaders who will lead a group. So there is no chance of the cars spliting up and causing havoc The run will take in some spectacular scenery so I would advise taking a good camera as we will be able to stop for a few good shots of the cars. The bit I think you will all like best is this.....part of the run will be through a forest I dont mean tarmac with trees either side. I mean dirt road with passing places, lakes, cattle grids and the odd pot hole (not rough though!) This section is around 2 or 3 miles long and is a beautiful area to be in. Best of all its where the scoobies belong I must empasise at this point. There MUST NOT be any reckless driving on this road. A MAX speed limit of 20mph will be adhered at all times. The road will be used by other vehicles and there are people on foot with dogs and the road runs through a farm. ANY driver seen or reported causing trouble will face serious consequences. You will not be welcome in the club or the forum if you do so. We will stop in the forest for piccys and a five minute break. We then carry on the run with more lovely countryside and some shops for the girls and girly guys, but more details on the day The time for the run should be around 2 hours and will use around half a tank of juice (if that) On returning to Stirling we will get parked up in the town and head for a late lunch/early dinner. I have spoken to the manager at Jimmy Chungs and he is more than happy to take a large number. The price is £5.99 per head for all you can eat. The foods spot on too and the place is nice and clean. He is willing to offer me a discount ( cause im a regular LOL) if there are enough people. Im looking at a fixed price per head for the meal and two soft drinks each. As Im sure you can understand, I will need numbers to work out this price So to re-cap. Meet-Drive-Shopping?-Meal-Home and all done for the price of a tank of optimax and a £5.99 meal. Best bit is that you dont need to get up mega early and you will be home before Songs of Praise Its a day for all the family and its easy on the pocket (ish) with a bit of everything rolled into one. Please note that as much as I would love for everyone to go on the run AND come for the meal, its not set in stone. If you want to head off after the run then thats okay For those who are interested please Copy and paste your names below and let me know if you are staying for the feed and how many you will be bringing (partner and kids) 1) Jamie and Ally.........Both

Could be a the Pitch damper or some of the box mounts broken. Have a look at the Pitch damper first. Its the one that goes between the engine and the bulkhead, behind the intercooler. Grab hold of it and give it a tug, see what happens. Failing that, you will need to get under the car and check the rest of the mounts. If it was me, I would get your mods off and stick her back to the garage for a closer inspection if I couldnt find the fault myself.

Right then folks. Its time for another AWD open day. Grant has confirmed a date of Saturday 27th of August for this event. AWD is proud to announce that they have now been appointed as an HKS super dealer for Scotland. With the link to HKS they have also managed to get the HKS world Drag championship winning car at the day. Well worth a look I would say since its not your average road car (95% confirmed at this stage) So, this is looking like its going to be one of the biggest Open days held by AWD to date. Fast and Modified are set to come along on the hunt for fresh material on the day, making it a good chance to get your Scooby waxed up and get some glossy magazine shots taken There will be the usuall free diagnostics checks for the SIDC members cars and Grant is also offering great discounts on the day on all parts. Discount will vary depending on the items bought. But make no mistake....there are bargains to be had A large stock of Whiteline, Mintex, Autometer, Blitz and many more will be on offer. Anything from interior to engine to exhausts and exterior will be on offer Grants infamouse "tea and buns" will be available too There will be ample parking for all since the whole section of the estate is being taken over by AWD Traffic will be directed into the unit to allow the Jap cars to have pride of place as close to the door as possible. Since AWD has a customer base thats spread over to England it means that we will get a chance to see some new faces and cars in our area for a change. So make the effort and get up to Perth for this one folks See you all there then
