Sorry couldn't get out last night - wasn't back in town until rather late so it was a bit late to start an evening out and was pissing down too. Hopefully tonight but where is everyone going & when etc?
-
<< I heard you give it a Baaaarrrrrrrrp when you pulled out of Corkills >> Beans for breakfast was it then Dave?
-
Good point - as I said I intend getting out this evening but it depends what sort of time I can get back into douggie. I don't have anyone's mobile number apart from one for Jon that is probably not valid any more so if anyone feels like texting to let me know where you're all at, mine's 463787.

<< And I bet you're still using tins of hot dogs in brine rather than using quality fast food. Tut, tut. >> What the blazes for man?! << Save up a bit and go for the McChicken Sandwich Meal power upgrade. >> Spoke to a mate who did this and he said it's just not worth doing, he reckons the best thing is to scrimp that little bit longer & get the McChicken Premier - vastly superior according to him. Says it'll leave a grin on yer face anyway!

Hopefully be able to get out later on in the evening tomorrow but I've got a meal with 'the family' earlier so might not be able to come and play until 10ish at a guess. PLenty of time to still get messed up though!
-
If I've told you once I've told you a thousand times - the Daddies had nothing to do with it! It was just because the cam belt was poundstretcher quality licquorice instead of being made by a quality manufacturer like Swizzels.

Mmmm, Tandoori chicken breast fillets - Rrrrrrrrrr! Ace! Spoke to a good mate of mine last night who's a mechanic and was telling me about all the scoob engines & aggro he's had with them the last 2 or 3 years. Good thing is he reckons they're really quite easy motors to install/remove once all the pipes & stuff are off the top of them. Think I can see his services being enlisted though.....
-
At least you'll be able to rule out the coil pack & earth problems from the possibilities. Good luck with it anyway though! << Or why don't we just get a battered, clapped-out Supra RZ then take it round to the MEA warehouse, strip it down, Nick can do the computer designing bit on his fancy computer, we can then build up this mad orange twin-turbo Supra, Dave can put mad vinyl graphics on it, then we can chase little Jap guys on motorcross bikes round the streets of Onchan........... >> Don't you get bored of doing that kind of thing all the time anyway?
-
<< Who else is coming out to play? >> Cue Jaws music..... Possibly - would be nice to meet up with you all again, although I think I already have a monster session planned for the evening and might well be helping out a mate with his rally car during the day.
-
<< Boring! Had to put up with Cret and his damn cheeseburger talk at 2am!! >> Maybe, but you always start it foo'!
-
Maybe without the refrigerant in it to compress there's not really any resistance on it. I'd have thought that bypassing it would make more sense but I know nothing about these things really!

No Jon, all the ones I got (as Alex sent me an extra Beta chip to test!) were legacy ones. They have to be specifically designed for my age legacy because it has an 8 Bit ECU instead of 16 bit one as fitted to all imprezas and Legacies from 91 onwards. They're the same maps, just programmed differently to work in the 8 bit ecu. I was running mine on SUL Kristan, and even with octane boost it was pinking/knocking. The chips were mapped for fuel the same as ours so that's why I'm reasonably sure that the chips weren't the cause of the problem with mine. Don't worry too much, I'm sure yours will be fine and you'll DEFINITELY enjoy the extra va va voom. Made a ton of difference to mine. A knocklink wouldn't be a bad idea though as Jon says.
-
I've had ones from 'down under' from two different places. Both have been very cheap, very helpful people but both have caused pinking/knocking leading me to suspect it was a different cause with the car, and not necessarily the chips themselves. More just something they have highlighted. The first was a 'Subzero group A' chip from race dynamics, and the other was from Alex at Fatsport. Be interested to know how you get on Kristan if yours is one of these chips.....

Well even though mine's dead I still can't wait to get it sorted give it a damn good thrashing again! That said I'm getting rather attached to the rangie even after only using it for a week. I am now the lord & master of the roads peasants. Still, considering that £30 of go-go juice just lasted about 70 miles, the novelty will wear off quite rapidly I expect....
-
No I'm afraid I'm off work sick today. Not feeling at all good, and bored sh1tless too! Was meant to be fitting the new cambelt tonight but am gonna have to postpone it now unfotunately. Still, aside from the cost and the scoob downtime, I'm sort of almost looking forward to taking the engine out. I haven't had the chance to do a big project like that for quite some time and it's going to be, shall we say, interesting to say the least! At least I now have some alternative wheels to use now. I'll never complain again about my scoob only doing about 20mpg either!
-
How can you tell it's 450+bhp Dave? Does it have a big Max Power sticker or something?
-
So what's the plan of attack for an alternative project then old boy? I'm sure you won't do it by halves whatever it is!!
-
Hmmm, surely Dave should have seen you behind him even a car back. That's if he uses his mirrors of course.... My new cambelt arrived this morning. Might get it fitted this weekend but I've got work to do on the rangie first. And to be honest, I'm a bit scared to fit it because of what I'm going to find out.
-
Bah. The thought of high velocity mountainside shenaigans are currently just fond memories. The scoob is dead. Long live the scoob! (The traitorous metal b@stard!)
-
Sorry I wasn't able to join in the fun chaps. Sorry again to Richard for having to jib out at the last minute after saying I would definitely be going.
-
Not sure but I doubt it. I'm not going to our do tonight now - can't really be arsed. Tonight will most likely consist of Mariokart & Grolsch/JD. Don't want to get as rotten as usual as I've to do the exhaust cut & shut job tomorrow. Means when y'all see me on Sunday I'll probably have a nice 'tan' from my jurassic Arc welder. I wonder if Noah used one of those......

Well, including airmail shipping from the US about £77 all in. That's compared to paying £300 for the afterburner backbox I was going to get for the rest of my Scoobyworld system. Not at all bad methinks!
-
Not spotted it yet but I have just collected my new backbox at last and it's a real beauty! Can't wait to bodge it onto the car on Saturday and see how it sounds. Almost too nice to go on the car, seems pretty well built, and best of all, the cost (before shipping from the states) was an absurdly cheap £50 or thereabouts! Mentally good bargain and looks to be well worth the wait.....
-
Just follow my good example and have a cheeseburger fast for 24hours beforehand. No problem! (Starts to go into a cold sweat and develop the shakes......)
-
Well, if nothing else it'll give me a convenient excuse when I do badly!
