Cheers dude. Just trying to make myself motivated to lift my engine out asap and get it fixed instead of buying this other legacy to use! It'll never get done if I do that!
-
<< I drive the bright yellow Type R that frequents Manx Shores! >> Dude, does that mean it's a boat as well? Nothing would surprise me with you!
-
Welcome to the forum mate! The more here the merrier.
-
Welcome to the madhouse mate! A bunch of top people on here and I'm sure you'll be made welcome.
-
Sure I spotted that noisy contraption pulling into the car park opposite the bus station this avvy. Noisy, white STi anyway. Broke my concentration at work I tell you! Sweeet work!
-
6.45? What's that?! You crazy foo' dude! And den, the sun came out.
-
I'm a Manc myself so I can say you've at least picked a decent alternative place to go to anyway! Might have to call in & say Cheeseburgers (and hello!) if I'm ever in your neck of the woods seeing as one of my Bros lives there too. Neil - I hope you've been studying the lifestyle you'll be adopting by watching 'Shameless' religiously each week!
-
Well the very best of luck for wherever you're both headed to and for whatever you'll be doing mate. You'll be missed, and needless to say that "Cheeseburgers!" just won't quite have the same ring to it anymore, but I hope everything goes sweet as a nut for the pair of you. But you'll be back. They always come back.....
-
Nah, not heard a peep. Not sweet dude, you haven't even asked permission! Another one deserting Scooby Island.
-
I'll just have to sit in mine in the garage again, making engine noises and pretending I'm part of the scoob convoy! Very glad to hear yours is armed & fully operational again Nick. Must be super sweet to get back in it & hear it. Boxer, are you leaving our shores?!

Dude! No news on the engine yet as the compression tester I got lent can't get to the plugs so I need to borrow a different one. My brother seems convinced that it's only running badly because the cambelt is a tooth out possibly but I'm told that's not enough to make it run as rough as it is. BUT, I have just found a 1993 Legacy Turbo (not an RS) over here that's going for £1200 so I'm toying with the idea of buying that so I can use it for now and rebuild the RS engine at my leisure, after which I'll have a complete Legacy for spares including the engine. Can't make my mind up what's the best thing to do with this bloody thing. Sweet!

<< Dudes, need customs mobile number just in case of any probs tomorrow. >> Have you taken up smuggling or something dude?
-
Where were you thinking of dude?
-
You need some black bin bags to 'tint' the windows, and tin foil to make some nice wheel covers. Possibly even the ones that have fake brake calipers that go round when the wheel turns!

<< Sorry, been drinking Octane Booster and pouring house white through the fuelling system instead. Might get a few extra BHP by sticking some Rum through the tank. Wadda reckon, Mr Stokes? Lol >> Dude, I've told you before about that but you won't listen! As long as your Sara Lee sponge filter is in good nick then a plentiful supply of Um Bongo in the tank will see you right. Some people add a cupfull of Dandelion & Burdock in there too but I've yet to see any proven dyno results from it.... And remember dude, NO daddies! It's just not sweet.

<< Dude fitted clear indicators. >> But of course! LIke it. Mine's an afterburner too. Well, the down pipe & centrepipe are afterburner, but the backbox is a 'Type C' custom special. Instead of muffling the exhaust noise it's specially designed by yours truly (with a graph of course!) to actually amplify the noise.... It's full of aural sweetness. And good luck with getting yours back asap Dooahhdude. It'll be sweet!

<< Dude De tangoed the car last night. Sweeeeeeeet. >> Dude? Nick - I think your plan was best mate! I went out racing 'toy' cars last night. Muchos fun - apart from the racing/skid hazard of a dog poo down one of the circuit straights. I was lucky. Others weren't...
-
Hopefully get the compression tests done this weekend if I can, then if the numbers look bad I shall commence engine removal procedures without further ado. Not sure exactly what stuff needs removing in order to remove it so I'll probably end up taking out far too much. Have a haynes book but it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard - these days they mostly say things like 'Engine removal - consult your local dealer' etc.
-
I sit in mine sometimes, gripping the steering wheel, making pretend engine noises & waving, but no-one drives past the garage door. Bah! Hopefully those days will be numbered....

"Now you shot just behind that one Neil. Load it up and call the trap agaiiiiiiiiiin"

I did hear what sounded like an elephant gun being fired in the vicinity of our office (i.e. BEHIND Lloydstsb) at 13:26 hours today. I wonder who could have been responsible?! Someone's going to be popular once the horse trams are out in May!
-
Yeah the belt is the same - we counted the teeth on the old & the new one to make sure. Even so, the tiny bit of difference that it could be out is apparently not enough to make it run as rough as it is. I'm going to compression test the cylinders hopefully one night this week and see how many/how bad they are & take it from there. As far as I know you can remove the heads with the engine in situ I think but I've no idea how much of a nightmare that would be to do. The cost of repairing the top end myself doesn't bother me as I doubt it'll come to all that much, it's just the aggro of it really. Ho hum. At least if I get WRX heads then I shouldn't get bothered by tappet noise/knock sensor issues in future as that's a popular upgrade on the Legacies. Will keep y'all posted anyway - cheers guys!

Here's something one of the knowledgeable Legacy boffins 'down under' has just had to say. And I don't like it. At all: You wont get bad running of your engine from being less than a tooth out. Sure it will effect your torque curve and shift the power up or down the engine range, but if every cam is within one tooth of the mark, it should idle and run fine. I think you may have bent valves or some other thing that is causing the roughness and pops and bangs. It would take several teeth out before this becomes a problem due to cam timing. Doesn't sound good does it. And to top it off, no-one proposed to me today either.
