  1. What there saying is spot on about the WRX but to say that about the STi is flat out wrong, I drove the WRX and I might as well been in a 2ltr megan, the STi is a different strory...it has 'IT' whatever 'IT' is, it has plenty, it feels very special, the interior is much better than my old MY03 but not as good the new German cars, but I did not buy my old WRX becasue of what the seats were like, I bought it because of how it drove!
  2. Yes serious HP, they had a 89 mustang that they run at the 1/4 mile track as an advertising tool, its 1200bhp, they also had a brand new Shelby Mustang GT500 that was having a blower fitted, when done it will be 650bhp at the rear wheels, I can't believe someone would do this but the guy bought it as a birthday present to his son...wait for it....he's turning 16 I think with a few safety mods 450bhp should be ok if you don't kill it everywhere, thats where I will be heading. Mark
  3. I placed an order for the new 08 Sti in white because of the color (white) I have to wait almost 4 months for delivery, so I decided to sink some more money in the balck hole know commoly as car modifications I decided to take my daily driver (Chrysler 300c) to the next level. The standard car puts out 350bhp at the flywheel from a naturaly aspirated 5.7litre V8, I had the heads done, cam, headers, exhaust, induction and tuned, it now puts out 435bhp and 440lfttq, when I was at the dyno having it tuned there were ton's of mustangs in the shop with turbos, twin turbos and blowers, not one was less than 700bhp so I decided to spend some of my kids inheritance and have a supercharger fitted, there estimating 650bhp...holy crap Can't wait for the scooby and soup that up, does anyone know what there able to take with std internals???? Mark
  4. We don't have any Prodrive options over here, but there are a ton of aftermarket tuners, it won't be long before there are packages on the market!
  5. VERY NICE...not keen on the wheels, are those the ones on the std car or did you have a choice, we have a choice of three?
  6. Great advertising!!!! wonder what his 1/4 mile was???
  7. Holy crap!!! I have just added cost of cars to my list of things I don't miss about the UK... Price I paid here was $36,995 with all the options at the current exchange rate thats just over 17 grand sorry should not laugh, at least there are bends in the UK to enjoy a car like this!!!
  8. Trust me you don't want to know what the price is over here compared to the UK price
  9. You won't be dissapointed, I could have had mine before Xmass if I had gone for any color other than white! I'm already looking at upgrade companies, should see 400bhp easliy without too much expense.
  10. Thats bad, you should here everyone here complaining about $3.00 per gallon!!!
  11. You won't be dissapointed, I feel the real petrol heads will drive the WRX and be put off, it is very bland, but the STi is a different animal...just wait you will see.
  12. As promised, a brief write up on my finding, these are my personal opinions so don't shoot me! I was supposed to drive the car last Thursday but the dealer called to say they had a problem with the car and could they arange it for Sunday, I found out that one of the grease monkey trainees took the car to the local gas stationl....(well I do live in the USA!!!) to fill the tank..and ended up rear ending a truck, when I asked where he was..."the social security office" When I saw the car my first impressions were that the car look a million dollars in the flesh and the pics don't do it justice, the car I drove was blue, looks the same blue as my old WRX although I'm told its slightly different. It's easier to go thru the points one by one; Outside: When I first saw the pics I did not like it, then when I drove the WRX I liked it even less, now that I see the STi in the flesh with all its bumps and scoops...WOW looks meaner than the old STi and has a great stance, the old WRX and STi was too high, this still needs to come down a little but it does not stand out. Interior: Massive improvement over outgoing model, still not up to the Germans but not far off, there are styling cues left over from the old model, gauges, 'red'. Centre console has similar knobs and controls as outgoing model, and the seats are a huge improvement, they look the dogs bollocks!!! Drive: All I can say is holy $hit, the start up /tickover sounds amazing...its lost the burble, well should not say that its sounds familiar but has a purposfull growl, when you accelerate hard its like a rally car, aroujnd town its very dosile! the performance is nothing short of amazing, this is a fast car and feels even faster, I have got my Chrysler 300C up to 485bhp, in a straight line it would kill the STi but its a land ship, even though I have done the suspension it still does not handle any where near what this car does, sharp turn in and it feels very fast...did I mention it's very fast. The car can be chucked about like nothing I have driven before, oh and its fast! I did not go above 100mph the rep was $hitting himself, the yanks are not very good at throwing the car round corners, mainly because there are no corners, but I found a few and drove it like I stole it. The bottom like with this car is, the WRX is bland and it's targeted at a wider audience, my feelings are that they did the STi for the petrol heads, the WRX for the masses, and they will sell more because of that. The STi is an animal, I never bought my old scoob because of its looks, in fact my wife thought I was crazy, I bought it because of how it made me feel, the fact this car looks like an animal, and drives like one, I sighned there and then on the dotted line, paid full wack (too new for discount) only problem is I have to wait until Feb, as I wanted it in white!! Forget all the crap about, they have spoiled the looks etc, the pics look crap etc, drive one and you will buy it! Mark
  13. Getting married eh!! congrats, regarding the lottery...your a doctor you win the lottery every payday
  14. Wow! whats she putting out? I would have thought you would be interested in the new Sti thats coming out....mind you it would not be able to stay up with the beast!!!
  15. I'm actually going to buy one if I like it, I drove the WRX and was very undewhelmed, it was like a nippy hatchback...no spark..but the STi looks much better in the flesh than on the net, the dealer had one in that was being shipped to a customer, I could not drive it but it looks very mean. I have the 300c which I have just had new heads, cam, headers, CAI, and new exhaust which when I have it dynod next week should give about 450bhp, its great for straight line driving and long distances but not exciting like the scoob was...it is fast though, christ its fast, I was behind a M6 on the motorway a couple of days ago and even though I would not be able to pass him, he could not shake me! I have told my wife that this is my mid life crisis, I can either have a mistress or a second car...she said the mistress would be cheaper!!! I'll let you know. Mark
  16. I will, the dealer is getting 6 in total next week 4 are sold and the others are available, 1 x silver 1 grey, if I end up wanting one, I want a white one, so there is going to be a wait. When is yours going to be available? Mark
  17. Its been a couple of years for me too but I'm prob going to buy the new Sti next week...see what the test drive is like!
  18. What are the mods on your car, what I mean is...in addition to the bits you had off mine?
  19. Forgot to add this, I'm not sure what info you have in the UK but there are some pics on the US website, take a look www.subaru.com
  20. Sorry only in the US I have a test drive booked, i'll let you know how I get on....I won't post the list priice it will make guys sick in the UK. Mark
  21. In the looks department I like the front end of the evo, but the back end looks just like an accord, the subaru in WRX form looks very bland, but then I never bought my 03 WRX because of it's looks, I bought it for the way it drove and made me feel, the new WRX when I drove it last week never had the 'It' factor, perhaps the STi will..only time will tell. Mark
  22. And some more... http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...article_id=5846
