  3. Your right mate, just checked mine, goes upto M12x1.75 but only has M12x1.5 and M12x1.75 at that size. Someone might have the correct size so he can at least chase the treads on the studs.
  4. John, put the car off the road untill you get the studs and nuts replaced, if your running around with less than the makers recommended 5 nuts per wheel your car would not pass an MOT and would be classed as unfit for the road, subaru uses 5 to lower the loading per stud and nut, by only using 3 you increase the loading on the remaining studs and nuts by 13% each or 39% in total, that's not safe. so it's not if it's when something goes wrong. and your not know for driving like miss daisy. see if you can fix the studs using a tap and die set, (you can borrow mine if you like), and then replace the nuts. Ed.
  5. That answers my email. to you.. just ignore mine now..
  6. Can everyone let it go now, It was only one windscreen I cracked with my ICE install, but it did still come second. I can see the point in fast cars, loud music, and bodykits, but then I'm just a 40 year old chav. Just remember 140db + will crack your windscreen as will 140mph will lose your license. But then again it's only money and it's theres not yours.
  7. Picked up the car yesterday. all the little things got fixed before I got it. very strange going from a 2.0 to 2.5 dosn't sound like a scooby at idle, but still goes like one. This is getting bad 3 scoobys in 8 years, already ordered a couple of little parts for it. (no major mods...unit 29/3/2010) does anyone know if the standard newage intercooler pipe/hose, decats/ induction kits ect. fits the hawkeyes. getting some one off decals made for it, but not rally or street. but enough so when people see they will know it's mine. Also signed up for the McRae Run. bought the stickers/tee shirts/ booked the hotel. AHHHHH it feels good to be home........ Sad or what? Ed.
  8. Been to see the car, couple of points that have shot the deal down in flames. 1.. no ppp 2.. IT'S AN IMPORT got subaru to check the vin number Thats the bad news over with.. Now the good news they had another SL without the PPP. still got full leather and sunroof. Originally from Vospers of Honiton in Exeter who are Subaru main agents. so 101% a uk car. needs a couple of small things fixed like a nail in the tyre, one scuffed alloy, car is fully standard, still got the wax on the inlet manifold, so will need to get steam cleaned to get rid of it. also couple of small stone marks on the windscreen. Hopefully get some discount on it to seal the deal. So sill getting a scooby again. Anybody got cobra trak Q, whats it like, any problems.
  9. Is the car hunting (revs going up and down by themselfs at idle) if yes then chances are the vacuum pipe from the dumpvalve has come off/split/cut ect. if its not huntting then the pipe could have collapsed by heat/vacuum/crushed ect. Why not electrics.. a boost gauge is a mechancal gauge not electronic(not counting defi ect.). Let us know John..
  10. Deal is done and should have the car by the end of next week Subject to final inspect when car arrives In the end up best price I could get a 2008 sti for was £21995 pre reg march 08 with 700 miles on the clock, but no one wanted my megane. So managed to get a 2007 2.5 WRX SL Wagon with PPP with leather and sunroof , 14000 miles FSSH, from a Motorpoint in Derby, it's a uk car so should have no problems warranty wise, all in less than 16K inc getting them to take the megane. It's not even up on their website yet they only got it in on wed, I have paid a refundable deposit for them to ship the car to Glasgow for me to inspect. So big thanks to paul at motorpoint for digging deep, But a big thanks must go to Gav for putting up with me trying to haggle down the price on their sti and GB270 wagon. So all being well, should be zipping about in it next weekend. Now to find a seat badge for the front.
  11. Any word on that blue one yet Gav. No Col666 don't want a Import this time, too much griev getting things done under warranty. (still waiting on alloys getting fixed and I dont have the car any more).
  12. Saw this car up at gav's today. what a car. Just thinking who has driven and did the engine work on it. New owner has posted round in the General area. Here's the link http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=118098 I for one would have bought this car no questions asked. what about you guys.
  13. Does anyone know the right on the road price for the new STi. The original press release says £24,995 OTR £1600 less than the old STi. but subaru.co.uk webpage say £26,595 Why and when did the price go back up. Anyone know what sort of price I should be trying to get one for. Maybe I get my SIDC discount.
  14. Is it me or did they remove the 4 pot front brakes and 2 pot rear brakes and went back to 2 pots at the front and singles at the back. Reason I'm asking. I'm fed up with this sh?te megane and think the new wrx(still hate the look of it) has softer ride than the hawks and blob eyes but I could be wrong. The 2008 Sti's are starting to grow on me also, what's everyones take on it. Does the Si/dccd allow you to change the suspension setting on the fly. Any help would be helpful. Also any dealer with good deals going let me know. Cheers Ed.
  15. Are you still after one of these. Let me know, as I now have them at home.
  16. if this is any good to you. http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/p...spec/index.html I'm currenty waiting on delivery of 3 of these. If it's of any use you can have the free unlimited use of one. Just pay for your own labels. Just drop me a PM Ed.
  17. If your car is fitted with pretensioner seatbelt then no you can't use the fitting points as it would fail it's mot and can be dangerous as in a accident it fires an explosive charge to pull the belt tight and if your wearing a harness thats tight already, there is nothing to give apart from you.... Your best to ask a MOT examiner if it's safe. Ed. Ps. Sparco are E approved to okay for road use and MOT's etc.
  18. It really depends on the type of 3point harness you have. When I had the harness they where fitted into the rear shelf which on my car had be reinforced and lined up with the front seats, normally you would fit them where the rear seat belt bolt in under the rear seat, but they sit off center, the scooby is luck that it has a bolt at the front of the rear seat in line with center of the front seats. This will take the harness I fitted for john, but as I said to john it's okay for a MOT(if they have the E approved mark) and road used/track day ect. but not for racing as it's not reinforced. but for normal road used I used the standard seat belts. Ed.
  19. if you hear a hissing check the vacum hoses near the dump valve, intercooler to turbo. Give john a phone john. I also have a OBD2 reader if you want to check.
  20. The oil temp used to read approx 95 on mine but all gauges can be out by up to 5% and still be classed as accurate. so you can assume it's out by a couple of deg's. If it hits the red, then worry. The oil pressure should be high when oil is cold (oil thick) or engine under load and drop as the viscosity lowers (oil thin and hot) if it drops to less than 2bar that would tell you, you have low/no oil and should stop asap.
  21. Well come wed it will have, never felt so said like finding out a member of the family has passed away. I let the wife pick the new car as the one I wanted "Type S GT" has a 20week waiting time. So she has picked a Renault CC in Red (I'll put on the flame suit now it gets worse) it's a dci with 6speed box. Mind you the insurance is only £226 full comp and it does 47Mpg Urban and 65Mpg Combined. But as I still will be around helping out if needed(wanted) (got to use the rest of this membership somehow). Ed.
  22. While a certain Scottish Scoobies Driver (hint hint he has almost white decals) was getting bits done to his car. He decided to help the local fire brigade in rescuing a poor pouch from a house fire. I think his new graphics might be this. Well done mate... New Sig should be. "Have Scooby will rescue"
  23. I've got a front splitter for sale mate see the post in the sales section. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111473 Ed.
  24. Cheers guys, did look at motablity cars but you need to get higher rate for a least 3 years to run to qualify. so no go and also you never own the car. so after 3 years you hand the car back and start again but again you need another 3 years of higher rate. I/we knew this was coming but as per normal was putting it off and fair play to the wife she let me have my fun(scooby wise), so it's the right thing to do and think of her for a couple of years, but as I said I will prob buy a classic in need of TLC as a scooby fix. Ed.
  25. Due to a major change of circumstances I need to chance my scooby to something that can take a wheelchair(not for me but for the wife) and must have softer ride. was looking at a civic type S still a little sporty. how much should I take for my scooby, it just under 3yrs old with 19500 miles full history I think I will have to remove the stereo system as it does not add to resale value. I will still stay a paid up member of the sidc and will possibly by a classic to get my scooby fix.
