I was down in kirkcudbright today having a look a plasma needing a repair, The customer had just got a RB5 which he is putting a new exhaust onto. and he has been told to have it remap. I asked if anything had or is getting done to it, he said no(no induction, fuel pumps, injectors or anything like that). I was under the impression you would not need a remap for just the exhaust (maybe the CEL light fix). What do you guys think ?. I did say to him to join us here and as so he maybe looking in. Ed.

The Scottish Scoobies - Colin Mcrae Memorial Award
ed-209 replied to ed-209's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Sorry Guys this what the Artwork looks like Not the best quality picture of it. Without the frame as thats is in hand along with a plaque. It's print number 1 of 250 and the only one that is a portrait apart from the orginal oil painting and the first proof copy all the others are landscape (yes all the ebay ones also). An email from the artist is with it to prove this (provence I think it's called) Oh one last thing. The artist spelt Impreza wrong on this one, on all the rest it was fixed. -
The Scottish Scoobies - Colin McRae Memorial Award We are pleased to announce that this will be an annual award presented to a member or group of members who have done outstanding service or support for the Scottish Scoobies or the General community on behalf of The Scottish Scoobies. The format for nomination of the winner will be. In September of each year members and users of the Scottish section will be able to nominate a person or group of people to receive the award this will last 1 month. In October the award committee will narrow the above list down to 3 or 4 choices again taking about a month to do this. In November there will be a poll set-up so everyone apart for those nominated can vote for the winner of the award. In December the pervious winner will hand back to award and it will be passed on to the new winner or winners for them to keep it for a year. The winners for 2008 are. Fai 17 (Peter) for his fund raising efforts for Santa cruise and being a all round nice guy. And also Squiggle (Grant) for his Colin McRae efforts this year. I am sure everyone will give then a big round of applause and wish them every success in the coming year. ------------------------------------------------------------ Added 9/12 ------------------------------------------------------------ No one has missed the vote for this year as there was not one. But in response to some emails and PM I felt I should clarify this. It was in limbo right up to friday night. I then had the idea of making it an award I did a quick run by of the Idea will ally-b who is the RO for glasgow, and I picked the first people to win it, but I could not make up my mind who would get it so it went to both, so I picked them because of what they have done in the past year, The full idea going forward is the committee will be made up of the the Scottish RO's yourself included (hopefully) along with up to 10 of the SIDC members (not users) who will be picked by again the RO's and the previous winner. You will notice I'am not on that list and I have will request that I am never nominted with it or be party to the committee. So from 2008 onwards it will be totally independent. Regards Ed.

Got your PM and PM back. Yes you have a right to fit for the purpose but it's not a warranty only covers defects caused by manufacture. does not cover defects caused by wear an tear. You must remember it took 50years of development for normal glass TV to last for 10/15 years and in some cases more. Plasma and LCD are only at about year 10 of development so still have a long way to go to become really robust. most common ploblems are contast levels set above 75 results in screen burn and aging of screens. recommended setting for normal use is Contast: Max 75% Brightness: Max 66% Colour: 50% (personal pref as everyone sees colours slightly diffrent) Sharpness - for tv us recommend max 33% other wise picture looks blocky I set mine to 0 for normal tv use 20 for Sky HD stations and 30 for PC use. Also remember plasmas and lcd's are static sensitive so take the same care as PC's. anti surge ect. and watch what you clean the screens with. I have repaired Plasma out of warranty on behalf of the makers but most can be traced to non manucturing faults again not covered by fit for the purpose rules. Hope that helps a little Ed.

As you may know Music Kegs are just Phat Noise Players recased by Kenwood do a search on flea bay So you could get one of those. Most are only 10,20Gb but someone managed to copy the Bios file so you can add 120Gb for less than £100 including a new case for it. Mines has approx 400 Albums on it and has 90Gb still free.
