I have a 330s which is basically a STi with some extra. This is what I wrote about it a week after having it. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...440&hl=330s Since then I have did Braded brake hoses, Dot 5.1 fluid, H frame, Panel Filters, Front Splitter and the car goes the very well and stops even better, just ask terzo. I did have classic, blobeye and hawkeye scoobies and this is the most pratical and best day to day. I only really use it at weekends and meets and I'm getting an average of 24MPG over 1700 miles. So all in all go for it.

The Scottish Scoobies - Colin Mcrae Memorial Award
ed-209 replied to ed-209's topic in Scottish Scoobies
It's that time of year again. Who do we think should get the award this year. -
you have a p.m. Also try this. not your model but pages 200-205 are for the auto box. https://www.subaru.com/content/downloads/pd..._IMP_Manual.pdf . Maybe someone has the owners handbook for a classic and can check for you.

Because the ecu is from an import it has a 180kph (112Mph) limiter built in you need a) a mechanical speedo conversion in which case your speedo will read wrong as you have a uk gearbox. b.) a electrical convertor don't know if that will effect the speedo. Mechanical convertor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-MECHANICAL-SP...id=p3286.c0.m14 Electrical convertor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-SPEEDO-CONVER...id=p3286.c0.m14 better if you just use a uk ecu.

I've only had it for a week, but I've done a couple of hundred miles in it. First thoughts are. Creature comforts. Very impressed with the sat nav, keyless entry, cruise control. Seats. Recaros just grab you and hold you real tight, not a lot of adjustment. you also feel very low in the car. set it too high and your knees hit the steering wheel. Economy, Glasgow to Edinburgh at 75 MPH was returning 30.4 MPG amazing, but that is it, all set to intelligent. but then again, coatbridge to moodiesburn approx 7 miles took 6 Min's on back roads and returned 9 MPG set to sport sharp. so swings and roundabout. Handling. very soft compared to the classic and even newage, but whileline will fix that. don't get me wrong it sticks to the road very well but you have to really commit to the corners. Brakes. Very good but could do with slight improvements, better pads, braided hoses etc. All in all. very good car and very cheap insurance for me with max no claims, IAM it was only £187 per year full comp. So in-conclusion. A better starting point than the classic, blobeye and hawkeye cars I have owned. Will start posting up details of my mods when they start, will not be doing any engine mod's ( I want to keep the warranty ). So far all I done is fix intercooler fins and make a intercooler guard to stop the fins getting bent, prodrive oil cap and prodrive battery clamp. cleaned engine bay to get rid of most of that wax they spray everywhere. I have loads of non performance parts to fit when they arrive, I have also started the ball rolling on the ken block graphics had a 2hr meeting with Underground deciding if we are doing the rally graphics or the gymkhana type ( just slight changes between them). I will post some pictures as and when bits get done. Ed.

ed-209 replied to cusco kid's topic in Scottish Scoobies
you got a part number for them, look like a match for the front spilter. Ed. -
Bloody hell that's dear, last year with elephant £600 for my07 wrx sl wagon. for the new 330s it was £187 from 1st Central. even phoned to check. checked confused.com and 5 company's where all quoting low prices for the 330s. So good deals are out there.
-
Thank guys. Ken Block Graphics already in hand. Yep the 330s comes PPP'd, £5995 that should read deposits from £5995. I have bought loads of bits from gav's and from revolution inc. front fogs, lower splitter, whiteline H Frame, F&N Panel Filter, Prodrive Flaps, Clear Rear Fog Light. and loads of other bits and bobs. just got to find the correct wheels like geo's. Will have stuff for sale from the hawkeye inc the h frame, braces, and a kenwood double din touch screen sat nav ipod playing bluetooth using stereo.

After a year of trouble free ownership the scooby is going. But it will be replaced with this. (no it not a megan). picking it up on Monday. Thanks to Gav for putting up with all the messing around. So far I have spent over a grand on extras so the car will not look like for long. It will also be wearing its L555 BAY plate. Geo (cusco kid) prepair to get asked lots of questions. Ed.

I enquired about the full kit to stan palmer, they got a company called Albany Signs, Ian give me their phone number 01228 592541. I may be doing the full kit to my new car. It looks like a body wrap not decals in the normal sense. I think it looks minted on the hawkeye. and make the hatch look .... ahhhhh so that's what subaru should have done. Go for it. Ed.
-
Well done to everyone involved, pity I had to miss it. Looks like the weather was braw too. Ed.
-
That's what I thought too, my 05 had the same old style key and seperate alarm fob. also no type uk badge on back of it, may be it was bought at a car supermarket like motordepot or motorpoint. Ed.
-
Well done Keira, you are a true inspiration to others. Respect.
-
no such luck, that's for the front pads only. Arch, I know what you mean .
-
True, they cost more than most types of pads, and there not even the dearest compound (xp12,xp16), but how much would it cost if the old set up failed as I am trying to stop in a hurry (no contest), always better to be safe than real sorry. I went through loads of reviews of brake pads and they where the only ones no one complained of fade, lots of compaints about noise and dust, but I can live with that.
-
The pads where £172.50 delivered. (3-4 days) that inc's a little bit of discount as the prices went up just before I bought them
-
John (the welsho) is correct it's a wrx hawkeye wagon (no E word here) Thank god I never said they are used by Evo drivers. ooops. JohnS - getting my alloys done dark silver so the brake dust will not show so much. I hope.
-
Directly from Carbotech Europe on the link you give me.

Got the Carbotech XP8 Pads fitted on Sat. after bedding in, which must be the easiest bedding process I've done, went for a run on Sunday, doing a little lap of my own private back roads, home-kirky-lennoxtown-milngavie-drymen-alexandria - McD's then back home again. no fade what so ever, brake just got better and better. even after really hard braking touching the brakes, would make the passenger almost leave the seat, thinking of changing his name to garfield as he was stuck to the windscreen so much. The brakes really feel like you have six pots fitted, they really are that good, much better than anything I have tried with this car or any in the past. Thanks to all the guys who pointed me in the right direction. Ed.
-
I remember getting told that before, but since I am changing the hoses I might as well do the fluid at the same time. Ed.
-
Just a quick update, all the bits have arrived and being fitted tomorrow so by the next glasgow meet I should know if the problem is cured. Getting fitted, Goodridge hoses, Motul Brake Fluid, Carbotech XP8 Pads also getting done,Calipers getting checked to make sure not sezied or pitting on the pistons, Shield getting removed from behind front disc to help them cool quicker, the tarox G88 Disc are getting any lips removed and getting scuffed up to help bedding in the new pads. After speaking to Tim at Carbotech , leaving the redstuff pads on the rear as the fronts do most of the braking anyway. So here's hoping all goes to plan Cheers Ed.

every scooby I have owned have made this noise (just to remind me - that I'm in the lose licence speed range) to cure noise I just lower the window a little and then put it back up. it's just the joy of a frameless window. Ed.
