Hey folks just trying to help a mate out whos wanting a new car preferably a diesel as he does about 1200 miles just to work and back. think he said hes got up to 15k to spend on one hed be looking at one with about 10,000 miles on the clock. Now its just suggeetions on make and models but defo doesnt want any type of vauxhall or ford focus. It has to have room for him. His misus.2 kids and 2 dogs. will happily take an estate aswel.must have good mpg and look decent aswel and be ok with some decent toys inside. I suggested the VWpassat diesel bluemotion which he likes the idea of.roughly 75mpg about 800-900miles to the tank. Has some toys inside and isnt to bad on the eyes.other was the new skoda octavia or an audi but finding an audi diesel in price range with low miles is a bit hard. Im not too clued up on good diesels so best i coule think would be to ask on this car forum even tho its scoobs were all petrol heads so some must have more suggestions that me. Thanks in advance folks for any replys

bit last minute here, but misus finishes work at 2pm and home for maybe 14:30,14:45 today and wants to do something , so im thinking of filling the scoob up with petrolium and taking a drive up to and maybe even round loch lommond, question is il be thinking itl be near dinner time while im up there so was just wondering if anyone knows somewhere close to the loch thats good to stop for a bite to eat, pub bistro, beefeater , anything but a mcdonalds lol.

nah i just thot it was a good comparison, as when the last little barsteward was in the car , you wouldnt see him all day except the odd early morning when i was up early for work and just as id get in the car hed scurry away and hide before i had a chance to catch him . the idea of even sleeping in the car came to mind too just to catch him lol

THE ROOF SCOOP IS THE WEE PREZY , AND I THINK IT WAS SEPT/OCT i actualy got it
-
Well for those who didnt know , had a wee accident with the scoob the end of last week involving me and a tank i mean volvo , no major damage ,just scuffs and scrapes in the paint , little dent in the wheel arch and possible dent in the rear door but was a little tough to tell. thought being on holiday this week and weather permitting id tackle the damage and give the car its first proper clean in a couple months aswel. good news was i managed to sort out most of the paint damage alot of it seemed to be just on the laquer and the car got a good clean, didnt get a chance to do the alloys as the light was fading as i started on the back box , but managed to get the windows inside cleaned ,inside polished, hoovered , back box polished . OUTSIDE was a power wash, then hot bucket of water ,2nd hot soapy bucket left to soak, another power wash .shampoo with power wash and the wee rotating head. wash again, polish and wax, never got a chance to clay bar the car , as ive goten quite into it since i first bought the clay bar kit summer last year. never realy got any pics as it was dark by the time i finished everything , but..BUT...!!! half way through i did plonk my wee prezy i bought myself last august/sept to see how it would look when i finaly get it fitted im thinking end of march april .

Think ive spelt that right and have the right meaning. Anyway stereotypical drivers ive never thot about them realy heard people moaning about its typical of people to drive a certain way with the car they have or certain people who drive certain types of car are a##eholes. but ive always though live and let live dont tar everyone with the same brush after all getin called a boyracer because i drive a subaru or boyracers car with all the "stickers" and big silly spoiler on it means i am a boy racer to most people when actualy id say i drive sensibley like any other road user let other people out at junctions and folks cross the road when their standing in the middle and so forth. which i subconciously hope that people sometimes think ohhh i had that person in the stickered car with the big spoiler wrong. . But today i can see why lots of people say that BMW drivers are complete w@#k##s or strokers as id call them due to 3 of them today. Out today with the lady in her micra going to the edinburgh fort and on the city bypass we are on the inside lane doing about 65mph coming to the end of the bypass and this bmw pulls along side us on the outside and as the car infront of him also starts to apply the breaks. He hammers it right up their backside and cuts infront of us without indicating cause the missus to break very firmly. There was kothng behind him or us and plenty of space to slow down and pop in behind us but he does this daft manouver which cld have went very wrong. Next up we have BMW number 2 as we eventualy arrive at the fort and pull in slowly the side where boots and HMV are if youve been. You come of the roundabout and turn in to the parking area where u can turn of to the left or right depending where you want to park. Were driving up straight slowly in this overcrowded parking area and BMW no2 is busy looking to his left and hammers out infront from a junction on our left of. trying to what i can assume is get infront of the car coming from his left (towards us ) withot even looking if there was anything coming from his right which was us who he should have been giving way to. That was near accident number two. Guy clearly knew he was in the wrong looked sheepish and lipped the word sorry. BMW no3. Coming home from the fort going the back road behind danderhall towards the cockatoo this prick drives up the missus bumper even though were doing national speed limit just before you get to the cockatoo pub theres a straight road which is only one lane eitherside but is actualy about 3lanes wide with crossing islands in the middle. Theres a car infront of us also going the speed limit but this impatient prick hammers it on the wrong side of the road into oncoming trafic past an island nearly causing an accident and cuts in. Gets to the cockatoo turns right round the roundabout to go towards sherifhall roundabout where the lane spilts into two at the lights on the roundabout. Me and the misus and the driver infront get there and hes at a red light the other srver pulls ip behind And wee go into the inside lane to see this bmw 3door coupe thing with 4 tosspot early twentysumthings in it. We head to dalkieth and the idiots have the wrong lane pull into ours and end up stuck behind us with no way of passing all the way into dalkieth and up through woodburn. With the misus conveontly driving at 26-27mph in a 30mph zone. Anyway rant over but that was 3seperate bmw drivers all driving like loonys on boxing day and i can see why some folk actualy say why they never let bmw drivers out of junctions and that their all "strokers". Im not gona tar them all with the same brush maybe it was just coincidence but they reaky got up my nose for how idiotic and impatient, inconsoderate they were.

hey again folks following on from my clutch suggestions post , just wondering if any mechanics/experts /folk in the know would know if a used clutch with low miles on it would be a temp fix/replacement until after my wedding next august where funds will be freed up again to get a new one. looking at maybe i do 5000miles a year if your lucky , so cars not overly used, so would a clutch for a 2003 blob same as mine match up ok and run ok for the next 12months/5000miles? cheers in advance to any info provided

hey kenny, spoke to andy at RA-motorsport , explained that when on boost in 3rd and 4th if the pedalw as hard to the floor then it jumped 1000 revs and settled back down , he said it sounds as tho its slipping , so got some prices from him , said if i could get the clutch he cld fit it for me or he can get one for me , so was just looking for prices and advice as usual lol
-
hey again folks think i might be in need of a clutch , now just wondering what is a decent one to get if buying new and where to source from , for a standard wrx sti 2003 no mods at all so dont think i need any racing clutches or what not as the engine isnt modded or that . or if i was to go down the road of getting a second hand one if someone was breaking down a car then is there any numbers or code that i would need so that it would defo match up with my car , other than being a 6-speed one , not in too much of a rush the now as i have to save up for it first , seeing how most the funds are going towards the wedding next year any help appreciated folks cheers paul
