Morning campers Gona give the car a good going over on my next day off.tardis and polish clay bar etc etc but noticed the ninja 2 back box is looking awfully sorry for itself bit dull and what looks pike cpl rust spots. So just wondering whats best to use to get it nice and sparkly. Previous cars had chrome exhausts and i have chrome cleaner for the back box. Applied it waited for it to dry in and dull up then buffed until shiney and clean. Cheers paul

just thought id have a wee rant on here about road tax, and feel free to correct me if im wrong but surely i thought the idea of road tax was to pay money to the goverment for use of the roads , highways and enviroment for the fumes the car produces from the rear etc etc .. in return for this money we pay , the goverment uses the cash to give to local authorities/councils to keep and maintain the roads to an acceptable driving standard for all road going vehicles....?? if im wrong please someone point out and i might calm down a little ... as ive just drove from dalkieth into the city centre to pick my good lady up and the state of the roads especialy in the city centre was a joke, while driving round the assault course of pot holes, raised bricks sticking out of the cobbles, high man hole covers and subsided roads i was actualy thinking to myself WHY the hell am i paying to drive on such damaged roads of such a poor standard , i actualy believe dirt roads in india would be in better knick than these ones up town , and theres be less traffic lights and road works especialy with the tram line construction , it doesnt get any better as you get towards dalkieth , again more pot holes, subsided roads that are very low on the left and high on the right , like someones came with a spoon and took a giant scoop out of the road and poured a little tar over it , most of them are still damaged from last big freeze in 2010 ...so if im correct in thinking my road tax should go towards paying to keep the roads in good knick and reasonable driving condition, then i think instead of the goverment charging the car by the size of the engine and fumes it produces . the driver of the vehicle should pay a road tax for what he thinks the qaulity of the roads he is driving is is worth e.g - crapy roads all cracked and pot holed £10 - £30 same roads always getting dug up and countless road works £30 -£50 ocasional road work and odd pot hole £ 50 - £100 top driving roads always clean,1 day road works , clear lines painted, always grited and open £100- £150 think if that was the case then the goverment would be due me a tax rebate lol oh and to finish my rant off , surely instead of 3 different utilitys diging up the same bit of road every couple of weeks one after the other , why not just say to the waterboard, gas board, telecomunictaions folks, electricty folk and anyone else that may hav pipes or so underneath and say we will be digging up this patch of road in "X" comming weeks/months if you have maintenance work/upgrades to be carried out , please be ready to do it as we wont be digging it up again for a furth 6- 8 months .. and just have everyone use the same open hole one after the other then fill it up at the end , prety sure at sheriff hall roundabout where the trafic lights are the same bit of road was only dug up just at xmas , and before that september , and nows its being dug up again grrrr anyway rant over, lol hope some of yous have had a laugh at my wee moan about it all , hopefully the blood pressures lowered now and i fall asleep now

just wanna say thanks to barry for sorting my radiator so quick and on short notice, had the leak in the top of the radiator as some of you might have read from the post on saturday i think it was.. by sunday he had sourced and got a price for a radiator , managed to fit me in on short notice , get the duff one out and the new one in a short space of time. very much apreciated TOP JOB SIR!!! I SALUTE YOU
-
can i book her into yours on wed baz? what am i looking at for a radiator £100-£200 thats the only place the water dribled out very slowly, hit the metal part of rad and steamed, so guesing thats what caused the steam which then collected on the underside of the bonnet, building up to condensation and then dripped down onto the the rest of the engine . checked while engine was hot on the rest of pipes and hoses and saw nothing else
-
OK UPDATE , parked it on the drive , cleaned all pipes hoses the lot , checked all levels when cold and dry , all seemed fine, turned engine on let it heat up and found out there is a small crack on radiator which is leaking when its hot/heats up circled the areas in red where small hairline split is . heres close up of the area circled where leak is now question is , im guesing i will need a full new radiator .. how much would this cost , and how much do we think itd cost to fit??? im guesing it would be ramp time and cpl hours taking of the front end and replacing everything? :( should i still drive the car slowly and easy.. no long distances? anything i can do to tempory fix it , rad weld or wouldnt that work on the pipe so far up ? plumbers tape on it hahaha
-
Ok update. Check everythin and all levels seem fine. Only one was the coolant bottle just at the right side behind the radiator was about qauter full. There are two white lines/ridges of plastic on it and its at the bottom ridge the next ridge is about 3 To 4 inches above that. .. Could that be it and is it just water and anti freeze id put in it?
-
Yeah a know baz. Its a good banter tho. And il laugh as much as the next. Would be devestated if i done any major damage. Just going out wi my gaffer the now to check it as he knows his way around an engine. and im appreciative off the help and advice as always. Il happily lopse a gallon of pe-ash. If its helpin me out lol
-
Will check when i finish at 5 the night baz. Before driving home. I wasnt paranoid to begin with like i said roads were wet cnditions were crap and so just thot it was water of the road causing it. Wasnt until it was a dry day and it happened i thot it was strange and had a look but never saw anything strange split loose or broke. . As for what to check, checking certain things or looking at a certain part to see a problem im not mechanicly minded and just baffled when looking at an engine or knowing to look for. as by example of of describing a part as a thingey ma jig. Thats why il post on here even if it means a good few litres p!ss takin out of me lol

been driving the motor the past few days and on the odd occasion when stopped ,pulled up behind a car /traffic lights or parked and i noticed a lil steam coming up from the front of the car , not thinking much of it being wet weather and so forth i just thot water hitting hot parts of the car inside the engine bay , had a wee look under the bonnet a couple times but couldnt realy see steam coming from anywhere visible but did see drops of water hitting what id gues was a hot part of the subframe just behind where the bumper would be / infront of where the timing belt is but at the very bottom of the engine bay , saw teh drips and heard the sizzle so just thot ok water coming in from outside through the grill and under the bonnet then dripping down . so the odd times its happened ive thought nothing off it, tonight i get home from work, dry night lil cold about 3degrees, park up and notice a lil bit of steam come up from the grill ,so pop the bonnet thinking its strange that its dry night and its happening , so i pop the bonnet and theres a lil bit of water just at the top of the grill , on the pipe where id say its the radiator cap, if thats teh one right at the front with the silver cap and yellow sticker , it wasnt dribbling out or leaking , couldnt see any water coming from anywhere ,or leaks/cracks nothing , and it didnt seem like water when i put my finger tips in it , had a wee smell aswel and there was no odour , the consitency felt like a oilish water , johnsons baby oilkind of thing , but more watery , ( dont wana say water based lube ) LOL so was just wondering if anyone would have any idea what it could be .??? or am i just being paranoid. p.s theres no lights on dashboard, temp gauge sits under the half way point, car runs fine, no strange sounds, and its not like its spewing steam , its more like when you breathe on a cold day and can see your breath. so its not heavy steam

Yeah sounds like what happened with me. But that was cpl years ago for me

If its manse veihicle management imports /mvm imports they have lots of scoobs and evos. Big selection. I went to see them for my first scoob just to see what they had test drive and general chat. Garage was a wee bit tough to find as its hidden behind the petrol station and couldnt see it off the main road. After looking around for the first 10/20mins all the card parked side by side didnt look like they were well tended too just left there and like they needed a good clean. Then when i spoke to the guy about a blobeye told him what i was after and he was ok at givin me some info bt as soon as i mentioned about trading in my coupe he lost intrest and seemed like he had more important stuff to do. Just my own opinion on how i think he came across and the service off them. That was a cpl years ago. Other folk might have had better times with him and i might have just caught them on a bad day. But first impressions are alot and you only get one chance to make a good one

****WARNING CONTAINS THEMES OF AN ADULT NATURE****

Doesnt some of the u.s models come with less power than the european and jap versions. Something to do with the type of fuel and emmisions? ? Sure i read that somewhere but it was a tvr that had to be allterd because of the exhaust emmisions it produced and the fuel wasnt as good....
