  1. On the A92 the silver Audi estate is always pulling folk. My neighbour was working at the Fife police headquarters in Glenrothes and the mechanics there were working on a blue Sti??!!
  2. Nice looking classic! Deep shine as well. Thinking of selling my 53 plate STi and "going back to the classics".
  3. I use Canon and even though I have never touched a Nikon I can't see myself ever being drawn away. My first SLR was the 350D which at the time was £550 for the body and the 18-55mm lens!!I still use that camera and my only real restrictions are the size I can print out to; due to it only being 8 megapixels and recently being limited to ISO1600 for low light sports work. Apart from that it is a good body and it does me fine. It is all down to personal taste I presume I think the next time I change a body it will be for the 7D - so I can keep my EFS lenses!
  4. Plenty masking tape to stop surface scratches and surface chipping. I would not use any cutting lubricants on wood - go through dry. You should also get a feel for how fast the cutter should be going and how fast or slow you should be feeding it through. I would not use a pilot hole if the cutter has already got a centre drill in it, this can lead to the centre drill wobbling and the final hole will be larger than you intended. Good luck!
  5. Brilliant write up! Good work again Paul! Could have done with more pics tho Nice one mate.
  6. Paul did my STi - blinding job! Paul will help you out with anything you need and takes time out to explain stuff as well. To be trusted with your scoob!
  7. More pics in my set here - Track Scotland 060210
  8. That's lookin awesome Paul! Will need to get soon and see the finished results. I take it the engine has been run in by now??? Surely!?
  9. Well done to all those that got good pics! I was already down at ISO800 and had my metering down 1 stop to get some decent shutter speeds. Was my first time out at Knockhill with my new 75-300mm IS lens as well - good stuff. It was a great day despite the weather, especially watching the drifts getting pushed further as the day went on. I also enjoyed watching the red Wagon getting it's neck wrung - brilliant!
  10. Interesting to hear what people are paying- I am 37, 7 years no claims, wife as named driver, I have 3 points for speeding, car kept in residential car park. 53 plate sti uk. Cheapest was £550 through Auto Direct, excess is a mandatory £650 which they let you insure for £2.50 a month in case you need to use it. The underwriters are Aviva (who don't advertise on comparison sites). I tried them direct and they wanted £1100???!!! Eh?
  11. Thanks for the kind words guys - appreciated. Needless to say the car is filthy already!
  12. Finally got the car washed properly after the crap weather finished and got some photos done. It was bustin' ma chops watchin the car sit in that snow after having it detailed in December and not being able to get it gleaming again. I tried to was it at one point but could not stand up on the ice outside - the neighbours must think I'm mental! The car was hand washed, power rinsed, but unfortunately it was too windy to hand dry. All detailing work done by Paul at http://www.theultimateshine.com - highly recommended!! Enjoy. Thanks for looking, Craig.
  13. I have recently fitted a Prosport boost gauge which is pretty decent. I have wired it to light up white in the "day" and with a feed taken from the illumination wire on the stereo it changes to green when the lights are turned on - to match the rest of the dash clocks. I bought it from Prosport on ebay and the single pod (pillar mount) from Scoobyworld on ebay as well. Saved a few bob!! If I was being picky, as I usually am, my only niggle is that the gauge does not sit bang on zero when off. (A calibration issue probably.) I would still recommend though!
  14. No, not yet. Just too busy right now and I don't have a garage to work in at night. Plus it's brass ootside! Looks like going back to the original dump valve will be the obvious option to begin with -will take it from there and see what happens. I will post back on the outcome - thanks for the advice guys.
  15. Excuse my "noob-i-ness" here on this topic as I am on my first scoob. 53 STi UK PPP I have had bother with the car when sitting on the motorway around 60ish and then putting the foot flat down (5th or 6th gear); the car would feel like it initially wants to take off, but then it pulses and backs off a little - still pulls like crazy, but for that initial split second it feels like it could have given a hell of a lot more. I fitted a Prosport boost gauge last week and I can now see what is happening - when I stick the foot flat down the gauge goes right round to 1.5 bar and the car begins to pull, the pressure then drops off to 1.2 bar (the pulse feeling I mentioned) and maintains that pressure. I don't know if this is meant to happen??? Surely if it can maintain 1.2 bar why can it not maintain the 1.5 bar?? Someone has already told me to lash the Bailey dump valve and go back to standard. If the dump valve was passing would it not be audible? Any help would be appreciated, Cheers in advance, Craig.
  16. You may have seen this over the years - still makes me laugh; because of my childish sense of humour! Chunk Snowball Enjoy
  17. Is there anyone who knows the legalities of changing my front garden into a drive / parking area? Since buying my Impreza I am no longer happy about leaving the car parked out on the street in front or in the communal car park at the back of the house. I also have a Vectra SRi diesel laden with dings due to parking there! I live in a mid terraced house in Kirkcaldy. I know I will need to ask the council for permission to lower the kerb stones but do I need to get plans drawn for this or anything? Do I need to pay the council for approval? I feel as it is my garden I should be able to do what I like with it, but I know that will not be the case. I just want to rip out the plants and put chips down for now to get the car in. Do I need some sort of permission, plans, etc? What will it cost? What is the law regarding other people blocking you in? I was told by a mate that if you are parked in your drive someone else can not block you in, but if you are not there they can park across your entrance? Thanks in advance for any help. Craig.
  18. Played with some pics today in CS3 - Cheers.
