Shouldn't be with us until late afternoon, thundery showers, (but don't quote me on that ) Right I'm off to bed for an earlier night cos I know how early Chris gets up and I don't want him waiting around too long for me with the cider/beer tempting him. He's got a long day ahead of him as I teach him to weld Ben Ps. I'm not very happy with how painting the grill turned out. It was a nightmare to begin, with my black paint reacted with the stuff already on the grill, but then Chris turned up and we fixed all that. All was going well, got a nice finish with the back but then managed to put a run in the clear coat Sanded it back and re-clear'd it but it's obviously not perfect. I'm sure it will need redoing in a year when it's covered in stone chips anyway, so I'll leave it and fit it on the car tomorrow along with the splitter hopefully, and chris's air box, it's going to be a busy day

Don't worry I'm on it already..................should be painting and fitting the new grill today. Then do chris's c.air box and my splitter tomorrow No......................I.....I cant resist...................................at least i'm doing something about the look of mine Cheers Ben

Hi mate. I have no idea for a price. I make loads of things for my mates and my old man, normally the only problem is time. I don't really do stuff for the money, I just like making things for my mates and them to have cool stuff. There is normally no way I could charge people what the things actually cost because it would be extortionate. Things just take so long to make by hand. We are quiet at work at the mo so when we have done Chris's shroud we could try and work out a break even price and make one for you in company time, that way it would be done this side of christmas It's looking like this shroud may be specific to this filter as chris dropped round tonight and we looked at some ideas. But I'm sure it could be modded for others. I'm sure we'll sort something out for you Same goes for anyone wanting some exhaust work doing or any fabrication really. Cheers Ben

Why,.................. did you have to get your eyes sewn up from the damage caused by looking at that bug eye of yours?? ben

Ok I see what you mean, and capping it top and bottom would certainly be the way forward. The only problem I see with that, purely from an engineering perspective, is trying to cut around all the pipes and other ancillaries and still have it as air tight as possible. Not only would this be difficult but may present problems trying to install it??? I was just thinking if you can shroud the filter in a large "can", effectively then you have a better seal without all the holes for those pipes etc. It would be fed cold air from the flexi pipe in your wing and be connected to it. You can use the net on the end of the filter cap to mount a bracket off to support one end of the tube/shroud.?? This would be far simpler to install and may far more effective?? I'm no tuner, just a metal basher and it only an idea, I just think it would be far simpler. Maybe Big D would have an opinion from a tuning perspective? I can do a drawing if you don't get my poor explanation of my idea. I am happy to help which ever way you want to go, hell why not try both...................and don't worry I wasn't even thinking of charging anything for myself. Just a contribution to work for the metal. I really have to go now as I'm out for the day, so I'll answer the other questions when I get home (just so you don't think me rude) Cheers Ben

I will convert you all..............................one by one if I have to................. Wait till you see it with the JDM sports grill. That gets rid of the top plastic bits by the badge that make it look just a little bit too Mazda 3 like.........

Chris / all Just as a thought has anyone tried making a tube to go over the cone filter, obviously large diameter so as to allow some breathing space for the filter, then off the main tube/shroud you could have another tube (at 90deg to it) plumbed into the ducting I see residing in your wing. The tube would have only one open end and be a reasonable fit at the other. Just thinking this would contain the cool air better and if the flexible ali tube was routed to the front of the car you may even see a very small ram effect. I have no idea if this would be a better or desirable idea. I have made one like this for my dads Audi A4 but it doesn't have the performance to make a noticeable difference. At least it could only suck cold air that way? With the shroud pattern above it would be fairly easy for warm air to come from above and below??? Just some thoughts............. You have my number if you want to try anything and need a fabby Cheers Ben

Hi all. As requested I took a couple pics today of the fogs, now all fitted. I also have a radio that works now I got the parts guy to give me a discount on the sports mesh grill as well, so.......... I may have put that on order too That should be in tomorrow and it just so happens I will be passing the garage in the morning anyway. Gonna be a busy week next week Have a good weekends driving all Ben

Dude that sucks like the others said, the most important thing is no one was hurt!! Right I'm sure I'll fit mum in somehow at some point so count me in. S.i.m.o.n +1 6. Andy WhisperUK work depending 7. Richard Bakerzone +1 8. Mobius 1 Ben 9. 10 Cheers Ben

looks like you could do with a fabricator now where would you find one of those who works at a place with lots o shiny metal?? I'm sure I could "lend" you some ali or stainless for that little project, with maybe a little contribution to the work cash scrap fund? It should be fairly easy for you to make your own template, no?? You could pop rivet the panels together or I could TIG weld it up. Just give me a shout if you want a hand! I was actually considering going into work on sunday or monday to fit my front splitter, you could come over if you fancy? How much would a bought one be?? HTH Ben

It's Gwithian beach, in between Hale and St Ives. Awesome place to buggy. We time our visit with the tide times so the beach is fully usable. From one end to the other is just under 3miles, which you can do in one run if the wind direction is right I had a look at fitting the splitter last night at work. It's not a great quality piece I must confess. I will have to remake the mounting brackets and respray it as it has a fair few chips. I got the day off work today and am just about to take her to the garage to get the fogs and radio sorted Ben

Sounds to me like your mum (and you for that matter) need to get over to Souls Garage in Olney (south east of Northampton) for a test drive. They have a white 330S that I tried to buy off them but the price was not low enough. It is still for sale and is our closest demo car I think. Then make your own opinions It's the only way to know for sure. Plus it was a great drive over there on the country roads, and then you can drive someone elses scoob for free I really love mine. I think it drives great and the power is unbelievable (obviously I don't know that cos I'm running it in...........honest ) But I have only had an MY53 WRX wagon to compare it to so thats just my opinion from what I know. I would agree that the steering is a bit too light but other than that no complaints Good news on the scratch kit, I may have a look myself Cheers Ben

Well to get a cheap starter buggy you would be looking at £280. Then for a kite, to learn with you would want a 3-4 meter kite that you would use in 10-ish mph wind, this would get you moving without scaring the cr@p out of you. That would be around £150 - £350 depending on the quality. More expensive ones really do fly better!!. But the price of £150 would be for a very reasonable quality kite. You could get one for much less but they just tend to be cheap and crappy. They will hinder your ability to learn. A harness which you wear and takes the main brunt of power from the kite and transmits through you body to the buggy would be around £50. You don't need this to learn with tho, but you need it to buggy all day as we do. Your arms would feel six foot long.......... Thats about it really. You may want some pads and a lid too. I would at least go for a lid This would allow for you to buggy in only a small window of opportunity as if there is more wind you would be over powered and vice versa in low wind. You just slowly add to your quiver of kites until you have one for every occasion. Just to give you an idea, my buggy is £850. I have a 1.4m, 2m, 2.4m, 3m, 4m, 4.9m, 5.5m and 6.5m kites. There are loads of good clubs and forums around. The easiest way to learn would be to get a couple of lessons. Check this forum out for any info you need. Kite people, like scooby owners are quite friendly and helpful and will help with any questions you have. Here is a link Flexifoil forum HTH Ben

Ok cheers anyway. The buggy thing is a kite buggy. Not quite as quick as a scooby but when your doing 40mph with your ass 1.5" off the deck it feels pretty quick, especially when it all starts going sideways Basically you use a big kite (around 4-5 sq meters for a 12mph wind, smaller for more wind and bigger for less) for traction and use the same principals as sailing a yacht (tacking etc) to move around. Its awesome fun You steer with your feet on the buggy and control the kite through your waist harness with your arms. Looks like this.......... Cheers Ben

Cool.....good choice I kinda ran out of money but hopefully may get them done this week as compensation for my stereo not working. Do you know how much the fitting and fogs cost you (if you don't mind saying)? I ordered a lower lip splitter for the front bumper and JDM prodrive mudflaps from Revolution 247 last week so that should be here soon. Should be able to look at fitting them toward the end of this week I spent 6.5 hours cleaning, claying and waxing the motor on sunday. She really needed it after our sea side trip Here were my toys for last week She had a nice view of the ocean.......... Oh and the new hatchback is about 8" shorter than my wagon but has more usable space as the suspension turrets to not intrude as far. Filled that baby right up!! The buggy crew (excluding me) Cheers Ben

Hi all Sorry, a few questions if I may?? What time do you meet? Do you go out for a drive afterwards like the mini meet? What time do you stick around till generally? Trouble is it's my mothers bday on the 7th so just need a few details to see if I can squeeze her in or not Cheers Ben

I was quite shocked when you told me there were 2 STI 330S's in bicester, and we both got the same colour to boot Hey Fruity, I'm in bicester too but sadly cant help with your scratch. This problem seems to stump many across the forums I hope you get an answer, I could do with knowing myself as my cargo from my week away has already scuffed some of my interior Do let us know how you get on please. See you round Ben

Damn I won't be able to make that My car is going to be in need of some serious cleaning inside and out as we will just be back from Cornwall on the saturday. It will have been parked in a horrible dusty carpark next to the beach all day for a week and have had my kite buggy covered in sand in and out every day too Not really looking forward to that part of the holiday, but buggying on a three mile beach should make up for it Hopefully next time Ben

Hey guys........... Well I got my car on some axle stands on tuesday and ripped that nice new exhaust off and played around a bit. The first step was to see what would it sound like without the mid box, so I made a straight through pipe and welded it to the now cut up centre section. Here is a vid............ Its ok but maybe still a little low key. Trouble is I'm a terrible boy racer when it comes to exhaust noise so I easily get carried away, but my good lady should stop me getting too carried away We are quite quiet at work so I may make a twin silencer rear end for it like the afterburner exhaust I have seen on scoobyworld. But mine will be welded nice Anyone wanting some exhaust work done by professional motorsport fabricators, now is your chance to get some from the place I work, as we are quite quiet I still don't have the new stereo, in fact they rang me today asking if I could drive all the way back to the garage because they didn't get all the numbers and codes they needed when they looked at it on picking the car up. This also means they didn't even get around to ordering it till today. I'll then have to go back to the garage again after I get back from holiday to have it fitted! I'm thinking they will be giving me a discount on the fog lights I want to get fitted Cheers Ben

I would be interested in going to this if thats ok?? Would be a good opportunity to meet some of you guys and checking out imprezas is always good Again for me the only thing would be what time will you meet?? I could take a half day at work depending on the time. Cheers Ben

What more could you want?? Blue sky, loads of scoobys and some awsome aircraft!!! Sounds very much like I missed a good one there. If only I'd joined the forum earlier Nothing wrong with liking planes mate.........................but taking numbers is a bit over the top Cheers ben

They all look excellent and sounds like a good day out Put me down for next year if thats OK Ben

So any pics of the cars all parked up??

Ok cheers the 1. I had a go at getting some off this afternoon after getting home while it was still warm. Comes off quite easy when warm. Hawkins I'd say it feels twice as fast as my wagon but I'm sure it isn't, it just feels so damn quick and responsive. Not that I have been giving it full beans just yet, I'm trying not to have too much fun with it and be kind but sometime just can't resist a little burst I just cant get over how many gizmos the sat nav computer thingy has. Its great and was totally unexpected as I hadn't played with it at the dealers. Here are some pics. The sun had gone in by the time I took them so you can't see the grey effect in the paint, but they are a start. Cheers all Ben
