About Davey L

  1. Mine were on the car when i bought it at Christmas, the garage said the previous owner (who he knew, but they all say that. having said that it was a small family run place so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt) paid £350 for the graphics and they were fitted by a bodyshop for him. Not sure i'd try fitting them myself.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I like them I've just never had a car with them on before. It does make the car distinctive (haven't had any real hassle off the feds yet, but I do drive sensibly!!!!) and there are't many cars round here covered in graphics. I was just wondering what the general opinion was on scooby's with graphics. Seems to be a fair split between keep them and bin them. I have a feeling they'll be staying on for a while. Cheers everyone.
  3. Won't let me add a pic so here's a linky type thing! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=6819...mp;id=729095807 I think it looks good, just a bit too loud. might do a bit of Photoshop action and remove some of the little ones to see what it's like.
  4. This is just a quick one. Got my WRX about a month ago now and it came with the full graphics set on it. Big Subaru logo' and flashes on each side (and the bonnet), Pirelli, Denso, etc scattered on the wings and bumpers. Originally i was goint to have them all removed cos to me it makes the car look a bit to SHOUTY for my liking. Today i thought about just removing all the small ones, Pirelli, Denso, etc.... I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion was about the Graphics.. I haven't seen too many cars with them on! Cheers all.
  5. I bought a R A Pro when i got the WRX and so far it's been fine... haven't had any radar or laser gun alerts off it yet though! could be a worry as thats one of the reasons i bought the thing, the local plod up here have no fixed camera's and use mobile sites and loiter around with the guns. It warns me about everything else no problems i'll have to keep an eye on it.
  6. Yup another re-map would be needed if you fitted a cat. Because of the Induction system and exhaust changes already the car 'should' have be re-mapped then. Just adding a cat could confuse the sensors, there could be fuel issues and it would just ruin the cat, costing more in the long run. Buying a modded car is always an adventure
  7. Have you tried some different insurance companies? I got my WRX just before christmas and the price differences were shocking between companies and the requirement for a tracker or not. Tesco were cheapest for me (37, 8 years protected no claims, car securely parked, no points, etc) but they wanted a tracker fitted..... which added quite a bit to the price, i ended up staying with Admiral (increase of £120 from a 1.8ltr 3 series to the Scooby). Shop around even if it means means paying a penalty on your current insurance it could still be cheaper in the long run. It could also depend on where you live though, i have a friend in Newcastle and every company he calls wants a tracker fitted! Shop around.
  8. I got my WRX 3 days before crimbo, i had a 4 year old 3 series to trade in. I bought the beemer brand new 4 years ago it was fully kitted with all the toys you would ever need and cost 22K when i got it, full main dealer service history and receipts for everything. I was offered £3800 for it trade in.... saying i nearly passed out would be an understatement. All the garage would say is "it's the market at the moment, no-one's buying or selling". Then he wouldn't reduce the window price on the WRX.... it's a buyers market for the dealers.
  9. Hopefully this linky thing will work? But i give no guarantees. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=6819...mp;id=729095807
  10. I'm trying to sort out some pics, hopefully i'll get it sorted in the next few days.
  11. Well i did it, got a 54 plate WRX with 48k on the clock. Drives well, handles well, goes like a missile and sounds great with the big bore that's fitted. Only a few minor problems, the seatbelts sound like someone scraping their nails down a blackboard when you pull them out to put on, annoying but bearable and the dash make's some squeaks occasionally (probably normal but my old beemer never made a sound). I'm still getting used to it but so far i am decidedly impressed. Just waiting for the decent weather so i can test it fully. Pics will be posted as soon as i get some sorted. Cheers guys and thanks for the tips before i got it.
  12. Just a shame your going to be geek and not get a real trade. hahaha
  13. Forget the company web page they've taken the car off cos i've paid the deposit. Thanks for all the tips and advice but i think i'll go new age not old school. Apart from anything at my age old school would mean a Mk2 Cortina...
  14. Ritchie Motor Company....(sorry, my work computer is having problems with links) The WRX i'm looking at is on there. Had it HPI and DVLA checked today and it all looks clean, insurance isn't massive and the garage had another interested punter in there today so i've paid a deposit to get reserved till i make the journey down there from the frozen north. It all looks good so i think after the test drive next week it will be mine! The bloody stickers will be coming off though. Thanks for all the help guys.
  15. I'll fill her up in Nairn on the way through! Test drive in a week should have a nice WRX a week or so after that.
