  6. I had the same problem with a WR1 about 3 weeks ago lolol
  7. This explains a lot. The grooves are straight, therefore they must be fitted correctly. On hindsight, the guys at the garage my have taken the fitting instructions from the box the discs came in and not the pads! Still doesnt look right though lol
  8. Brakes were from the "Brake Depot" and were delivered straight to the garage so I never saw any possible fitting info. Have to admit this..........Your comments about the brake dust being pushed in towards the hub instead of up and out, sure makes sense Del , but dont let it go to your head mate lolol Will probably change them round this week as they have done less that 100 miles so pads can remain in place.
  9. Just had new discs and pads fitted all round..............as well as other work to get the car through its MOT. Went for vented and grooved discs all round and EBC Redstuff pads. Brakes are sh*t hot now although I was concerned that the discs have been fitted on the wrong sides of the car. Grooves appear to be sloping forward instead of backwards as is seen on most other cars. The garage tell me that this is the way EBC recommend the discs are fitted. Anybody know if this is correct? Cheers Andy
  10. Voted for a Thursday evening however, as long as I get a couple of weeks notice, any day / evening would do really

  14. Quick question................. I have a set of 17" STI alloys on my 98 classic atm. They are wearing 225 x 45 x 17 rubber, however the car has been lowered 45mm and the wheels / tyres have been "squeezed" under the arches by the previous owner, to the point theres only around 2-3mm of a gap from the inner part of the tyre and the suspension strut! When driving over some bumps etc at speed the outer part of the tyres are rubbing on the wheel arches despite the fact they have been modified. I have a spare set of OZ alloys from a P1 which were wearing 205 x 45 x 17 rubber. I tried them on the back of the car the other night and the never caught once and took all the bumps etc that the other wheels wouldnt. These are about to be sent off for refurbishment, so my question is, what would be the max tyre width they would take? I recon they are not rubbing the wheel arch due to a different offset, just wondered what would be the best set up, especially from anyone else running these wheels. Any advice appreciated Andy
  15. Easier for me to head to Edinburgh via A702 then up to Knockhill so I'll catch up with everyone up there! Andy
  16. Grew up around Lanark area, for all my sins! Will be driving a red 08 hatch wrx tomorrow as I dont think the classic could cope with the track. That said, the misses will be bringing the classic and she might have other ideas....lolol Catch up with you tomorrow Fraser. Andy
  17. Both myself and TPS SCOOB 2 will be on track in the afternoon. Will be good to see what the cars real potential is on the track as normal "A" roads are 60mph max .........which is a bummer! Looking forward to meeting up with a few people from this forum. Andy
