  1. Think I've read somewhere it takes the ecu ages to re-adjust itself to v power as it goes in a "retard" mode for lower RON fuel. So you'd have to re-set the ecu yourself. Have you worked out what the difference in savings would be? I picked up a 306 turbo diesel on a P which has a dent on every panel, but only paid £450 for it and apparently I can run it on vegetable oil which is 97p for 20 litres from Asda, if thats the case i'm def going to keep it as a second car.
  2. Admiral, been the cheapest for me on pretty much all the cars i've had.
  3. Pricey MOFOS Lexus style ones Afterburners
  4. Bang on mate, I shouldn't complain really, but my mortgage is going up £200 odd in a month or two, so every little helps at the mo!
  5. 25, was only paying about £600 for a wrx so quite an increase but then the performance feels so much better.
  6. Engine & gearbox seems spot on. Only thing that I know that needs doing is the rocker cover gasket on the drivers side, but the seller told me that at the time. £810 to insure it today though!
  7. Treated it to a clean today and was quite disappointed. I can see why the seller didn't clean it before I went round to have a look at it, as theres a hell of a lot more imperfections on the car than I could see through the dirt. Oh well you live and learn I suppose!
  8. Failed to notice that the car was lacking a front number plate when I went and bought it today, wasn't until I went to the garage today they pointed it out to me. Anyone know a place online to get some sent out to me? I was thinking of getting a sticker on the bottom of the middle of the bumper, do you think that'd work?
  9. It's not that nice looking at the moment, hasn't been treated to a clean for quite a while! Hasn't got the splitter either which is a shame, he sold it for £100 which is a little bit more than I would have paid, I guess there probably quite rare though. Been looking at this page for cleaning products to try and sort it out Polished Bliss but can't work out exactly what I need. Might give the guy an email to see what he recommends. Looks like impressive results to me.
  10. To be honest I have so much time on my hands with my job up in Gatwick that I might as well do it myself, just need to know what products to use really. Unless the fella you know is pretty cheap?
  11. You've got good vision! green panel air filter decat pipe Magnex rear box - sounds a lot nicer than my last one(unsure of make), more aggressive as opposed to my last one which was a bit basey in comparrison if that makes any sense nology ht leads - don't know if there an aftermarket make?1 blitz turbo timer - doubles up as a boost gauge - what boost should I be running on an sti? It's got a v4 RA engine in it along with a vf24 turbo apparently lowered on tein springs grooved brake discs - fronts only toad cat 1 alarm and immobiliser Think thats about it, needs a damn good tcut and polish
  12. After the last one I bought having head gasket failure I bought another one: My mate bought his sniffer tester along, and no signs of HG failure. All I can tell that needs doing at the moment is the rocker cover gasket (£44 last time I got one from Barretts!). The body work isn't the cleanest ever, seems to have shed loads of swirl marks. Does anyone know the best stuff to get rid of t-cut on black paint?
  13. Just the car i'm going to look at tomorrow has a decat, but the owner hasn't got the CAT to stick back on for the MOT. Any ideas on what one will cost roughly? Many thanks.
  14. Tim Nice
  15. Not the air flow meter?
  16. I rang them yesterday and the person I spoke to seemed friendly enough, but almost seemed like he wanted me off the phone asap. Tried getting some of the reports offline but wasn't working, done so again today and the person I spoke to try and get some help from seemed like he'd never used a computer in his life. In the end I was told try closer to the bidding time to see if the reports had been uploaded. So I will do so and see how it goes.
  17. Want a saloon to be honest mate. Was thinking of using bonsaicars.com - Has anyone used them?
  18. What a joke. Not really a rumor was it! 100% true that is was Donald ducked
  19. As title really, at a guess I think i'll only be able to afford a v3. By the way, the one I bought off ebay that had headgasket failure take a look: STI At least it should be a sound car for the next person. I bought it knowing it needed the crankshaft seal replacing, although I had to find that out on my own accord. It's also had a tap up the back. Apart from that a very tidy car, would of gone again with it, had it not been for the fact he relisted it for about a week as being mint even when people were asking him if it had head gasket failure and he was saying no. Shame that he didn't do the genuine thing and sort it out first instead of me listing it on here and scoobynet. Anyway, after going from my 93 wrx to that sti, I know its STI all the way now, so keep your eyes peeled for me please as I hate driving about in my 306 at the moment.
  20. Was it Outlook express that sent out all the emails?
  21. I had an exeedy admittedly only for about 4k miles before I sold last week, but was good for me, but I had no mods apart from a 3" straight through exhaust.
  22. Didn't see any oil around the rocker cover gasket to be honest, but he had recently gone over it the engine with cleaner. He certainly didn't say anything about the rocker covers to me. I wonder what the car would be worth if he did sell it legitimately. It really did pull so much harder than my 93 wrx I had that I know it's got to be an sti next time round. Got my eye on one all the way down in Devon, but its a long way to go if it turns out to be a wrongun and also can't get any time off work for the next 17 days :<
  23. That ****s me off, as it was re-listed within a few hours of me taking it back and there's no way he could of done the head gasket in that time. Someone bought it off ebay before me and either took it back as I did or they had a look at it and didn't bother with it. He emailed me and said the person who bought it originally couldn't get insured as he had lots of points. I was skeptical, but thought i'd go along and take a look as it was only about 45 mins from where I was working. All seemed fine other than I could see the crank shaft oil seal was leaking a bit and it'd had a tap from behind where the boot wasn't quite sitting flush with the light on the drivers side. As for saying it's mint, it's far from it, plenty of small scuffs all round it. I've noticed the other black one he's selling he's listed that as mint, which it certainly isn't it looks like someones been firing a catapult on down the drivers side and that was looking at it from afar.
  24. There are Exeedys on ebay for about £130 delivered if not cheaper.
  25. No sold that the day before I went to Glastonbury, so smoking about in a 306 diesel turbo until I find another Sti that hopefully wont smoke
