  1. What are the issues with pushing the pistons in (on an abs car) without slackening the bleed nipples? I've always done it this way without any problems.
  2. Dipstick tube
  3. I've just finished doing my front one, it wasn't quite in the same league as your back one but was almost all the way through in the middle and that's on an MY99. I zinc undercoated the new one and then wax oiled it as I don't fancy doing it again any time soon.
  4. Yer, some of those hatches are quick, just fit an 18G, 550's and a remap and it'll wipe the smile from their smug faces!!
  5. Definately worth checking the actuator arm as previously mentioned.
  6. I put a manual boost controller on (solenoid is then disconnected) and the boost came back. This was after taking the turbo off and looking at it, so I can recommend checking out a few other things first. What you can do is disconnect the solenoid and put 12 volts from the battery onto the terminals of the solenoid and if it's ok you will hear an audible click. When you're driving the car can you hear any turbo whistle at all, say in 4th gear at around 50mph when you put your foot down? If it's whistling it's spinning ok. Check the turbo hoses from the turbo to the intercooler and the intercooler to intake manifold, also check the hoses to/from the blow off valve. If you have a split in any of these this will also screw your boost.
  7. I wouldn't point the finger at the turbo just yet. Do you have a boost gauge on it so you can see if it's running any boost at all? Mine wouldn't boost above 7psi and it was the boost solenoid stuck closed.
  8. Always the MAF
  9. REM - Everybody Hurts (Hey..I'm a manic depressive) Nirvana - Nevermind
  10. It's nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the enviroment, the goverment is jumping on the green bandwagon as it can see increased revenue opportunities, the green issue is just a great excuse for them. Car emissions in the UK are minute compared to industry, cows farting etc.
  11. Looks good, my classic is running an 18G with similar mods mapped by Simon at Jolly Green Monster. I read a few threads about injector o-rings leaking but in the end fitted them myself without any problems. Good luck with the mods, don't know what HP/torque mine is running now as it was set up on the M49 but it's pretty frantic!
  12. Didn't realise the wagon damage was so bad, shame as it was an icon. Hope the new build goes well and maybe a respray? Mine is still running great after the mapping..thanks again.
  13. If it's happening on the move it could be a sticking piston in one of the calipers..sounds unlikely but I had it on my classic and felt like a wheel imbalance problem.
  14. Fit it..you know you want to! I have an 18g running 1.4 bar on my stock internal engine/gearbox 99 Turbo 2000 mapped by Simon at Jolly Green Monster with no problems. It does have a fair bit more thrust than the 16g with hardly any more lag.
  15. Could be all of things mentioned, MAF, overboost fuel cut etc..MAF's seem to give different symptoms when they fail but mine was more of a misfire than like hitting a wall on boost. I did have the boost solenoid stick a few times and that was like hitting brick wall, it seemed to happen overtaking when I was really hammering it but then would almost instantly fix itself. Incidentally if the MAF is knackered it won't affect your boost so see what your gauge does when it next happens, if the boost doesn't dip it's not the MAF, coil paks or plugs.
  16. shame, but like you say it happens, hope all goes well with the rebuild.
  17. 450 is pretty impressive, typical that you stacked it the day after.
  18. I hope it gave a good account of itself with tyre wall and the damage is just cosmetic?
  19. Hi Simon, What happened to the green one?
  20. Jeeso!
