About turbo2000wagon

  1. Hi, Does anyone have one of these off a version 5/6 they are willing to sell? The flat plastic pipe that feeds air to the resonator box in the wing. If they have the single bolt that holds it on that would be handy as well. Cheers Tim
  2. Hi, Can anyone recommend a garage in the South West for panel spraying and paint matching. My bumpers and rear quarter panel are in need of some tlc? Thanks
  3. It's mostly been said already but..........speed has nothing to do with the issue it just modifies the outcome. Too many drivers treat driving as an everyday supermarket shop,. Let's face it once you pass your driving test you either START learning how to drive or you dream while you drive like the majority. Those of us who are interested in cars and bikes train ourselves but the rest are like cattle and don't have a clue. This is harsh, I know, but true. Reducing speed limits may well help but doesn't affect the root of the problem which is bad judgement, poor observation, inappropriate speed.....................basically bad driving.
  4. Always best to change it like already mentioned...just for the peace of mind. Did my 120,000 mile '99 Turbo 2000 (1.4 bar boost with supporting mods) a few months ago and the tensioner didn't seem too bad but I replaced it anyway as you just don't know when it was replaced last. I had more trouble with the other pulleys which were really rough if you spun them up by hand, I ended up replacing all of them except one, but this was on a quite a high mileage engine.
  5. You never know, I was on my way to get some new hoops in Taunton and tried a short cut, I never expected things to be so white and slippy. Hope you have a great weekend, you're quite close to Watermeet there so it may be worth a visit to see the river raging down the Gorge.
  6. Very near to Porlock hill, just over a bit on top of Dunkery Beacon. I struggled to get up there, if it had been Porlock hill the car would probably be in a pile at the bottom. Wouldn't mind one but a bit pricey for my pocket, the new R1 looks like more my cup of tea.
  7. Thanks, it's coming along. Just got rid of the awful Durun tyres that were fitted, they tramlined all over the shop. I tried higher pressures, lower pressures, different camber, toe but it only ever marginally improved things. 4 GoodYear F1 Eagles later the car is transformed, my own fault for being cheap in the first place.
  8. Was a bit chilly on Exmoor this morning.......at least the ponies picked the right time to cross the road.
  9. Should be fine, but personally I would just go for a total de-cat, I tried a sports cat and although it was better than the standard downpipe it still didn't pass the MOT, I had the car mapped with it on and the spool up was still a bit slow. I now run a de-cat downpipe which is noticeably better.
  10. My 99 Turbo 2000 running 1.4 bar generally peaks at around 20 running shell v and octane booster, I'm told the later classic engines were a bit 'quieter' knock wise to the earlier ones. The highest I've seen is 39 but I think I sucked a bit of water into the intake to hit that. I used a knock link for a while but even on it's most sensitive setting it didn't ever go more than low amber.
  11. My classic failed with the centre cat removed and a Ninja fast flow cat downpipe fitted and when I say it failed, I mean it failed dismally and that was after repeated high speed runs etc to try and heat the cat. Once I refitted the original downpipe cat it passed easily. I run a complete decat now and swap at MOT time which sounds a pain but the spool up midrange is much improved over the sports cat. The car is by no means standard tho' and is running a TD05 18G, 1.4 Bar and supporting mods.
  12. I know, I know....there like hens teeth, but if anyone has some I have cash waiting. My classic requires more BHP. Thanks to all.
  13. No worries, just trying to clear it up, some of the sensor location diagrams I have seen point to the coolant temp sensor being by the alternator.
  14. It's not oil temp as the Impreza doesn't monitor oil temp, only oil pressure. If that's the oil pressure switch where is the coolant temp sensor?
  15. It's the coolant temp sensor! Your engine temp gauge won't be working.
