  1. Hello and a big warm welcome to da club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Hi Can anyone clear up some confusion about alloy wheel fitment? I have a 2003 Sti and are looking to fit 18" alloys (possibly prodrive as per picture) However some people are saying that the type of alloy supplied by prodrive will not fit Sti's fitted with Brembo Brakes. I'm a little confused by this as I've seen these fitted to 03 Sti's in the past with no apparent issues. If anyone can help I'd be grateful. Darryl
  3. I would advise you to just go and buy one.....now! I'm on my second, my first being a 2001 UK300 model. Usually managed 26-28mpg combined in this. I now have a 2003 Sti Type UK so its dropped slightly to 25mpg but the car is a hell of alot quicker!! I commute along the motorway to work etc and find it relatively comfortable but then I enjoy the car that much I could be sitting on a bed of nails and still enjoy the ride! Insurance is £550 fully comp/protected through Gary Moulson @ Keith Michaels PLC ( cut my premium in half!) Personally if funds allow I would opt for an Sti but try and test drive both and see what you think. Hope the info helps Darryl
  4. That is one nice looking scooby...and in white it looks the business..
  5. Hello buddy, welcome to the SIDC site.........
  6. My UK 300 had the same problem. I was told that it would be worse when starting off cold and to try a few harsh standing starts to try and resolve the problem. (apparently it has the effect of cleaning the surfaces of the flywheel/plate etc?) The clutch was fine after it juddered on the first take off ( but it gets to be a pain after a while). I now have a 03STi which has just over 29K and I've just had the clutch changed on that. (they don't last long). Cheers Darryl
  7. My Sti is running a modest 280bhp and its giving back 23.13mpg!!.......and thats driving it like the queens on board!
  8. Have a look at the link for youtube below and see what you think!!...personally I want one!
  9. Hello Gary, I only joined the club myself a few weeks ago and I'm enjoying every minute of it. The scooby looks nice, especially with the PPP. As far as the wife goes just tell her its safer than a motorbike............. that worked for me!!!
  10. I know the fuels expensive but isn't it worth it when you turn the key and pull off!!!
  11. Recieved an email from Prodrive which states:- Hi Darryl Thank you so much for your email I have spoken to our marketing department and they have confirmed they will be organising a day in memory of Colin but as yet nothing has been confirmed as soon as I get the information I will let you know. Regards Jackie So lets wait and see...............................
  12. Just emailed prodrive... also suggested that any profit from an event be forwarded to a charity of the Mcrae families choice. Here's hoping.
  13. Try this link for Pistonheads:- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/203226.htm (cut and paste into search bar) Speak to the guy and see what he says its like to own a Sport model. It looks quite a nice one.. a friend of mine had a 98 Sport and he said it was great especially the handling! Anyway good luck
  14. I only joined the SIDC last week and they seem like a good bunch of like minded folks I'm on my second scooby ( the first being a WRX UK300..which was very nice) I've now got a MY03 STi which my wife loves...sorry hates! but my little boy thinks its fantastic ( as he tells his teachers that daddies car goes....brooommm...whoooooosh!!!!) Awaiting a call from the social anyday!!
  15. Hello all, Just joined the club last week and thought I'd say hello to the SIDC members out there. Had a great day at the RallyDay on Saturday ..plenty of cool Scoobies there aswell. Darryl Here's a photo of my beloved Sti
  16. Bought my 03 Sti a month ago.. after trying a diesel for a few months!! My car before that was a WRX UK300, its so good to start driving a car again that scares the living crap out of people when you drive past!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Its always a sensible option if you're serious about buying a particular car. I think the AA/RAC give a guarantee if somethings amiss following one of their inspections (if you buy the car). Have you tried advertising on Pistonheads.com? They are really good and its free..give that a go first. Darryl
  18. At £6K the Impreza seems well priced. I had a UK300 which was also a 2001 model (similar mechanical spec) Make sure the clutch is good ( mine suffered a bit when cold..it juddered like crazy until warm, common problem apparently) Check the service history and if possible contact the previous owner and garages that serviced the Impreza to find out what the car was like? Check the V5 logbook for their name/address. Finally check the pads/discs for wear and make sure cambelt has been changed. If all is well, buy it, drive it, enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Darryl
  19. Doesn't sound too expensive although mileage is a little up. The wagons are never going to command big money especially certain colours ( ie green, sorry) blue/black or red would fetch a little higher I would have thought. How much cash are they offering for your car?
