  1. I went through all of this a while ago when I was looking at more power and the father-in-law mentioned I would be needing new discs and pads soon at last MOT. Yellow stuff I believe is EBC's track day pad and can take a fair bit of heat before they start to work to any great level so for a daily driver can be a bit of an issue. The Red stuff seemed to get a bit of a slating on older posts but then EBC came up with the Red Stuff Ceramic which has more lovers now than haters and also seems to be kinder on the discs. The EBC Turbo Groove Discs (Grooved and dimpled) were a mixed bag of reviews, some thought they were fantastic whilst others hated them - warped within days, pads chewed them up and so on. In the end I opted for the Prodrive 330mm front upgrade and got EBC Turbo Groove discs for the rear and Ferodo DS2500 pads (which I believe is what comes with the Prodrive upgrade), braided hoses all round and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever with the EBC discs (or the rest of the gear for that matter) other than the amount of brake dust generated by the Prodrives!!!
  2. Need to take the headlight out to change the sidelights. Bit of a PITA, but after you've done it once it's easier next time round as you know how much force is needed and you're more confident you wont break anything! Do a search and you should get some details of removing the headlights, my advice is check the owners manual, it gives pretty good instructions on how to do it, just be aware that once the unit is free it doesn't come too far out of the body due to the wiring not being all that long. Can't remember if there's enough give to allow a sidelight change but if you have to unplug everything then it's not really a biggie, it's all colour coded anyway!
  3. Check out the car care section on SNET, there's a decent ""how to" by the guys at Polished Bliss showing what to use and how to use it, covers both hand application and machine polishing.
  4. Part of the justification for getting the scoob was due to it's "family friendly" characteristics - 4 door, ISOFIX rear anchor points and decent boot. The boot really surprised me when I was able to get 2 sets of golfclubs in there without having to remove the drivers or other woods!!!
  5. Had a front splitter on mine from them, great fit and looked the business! I say had since I cracked the corner and repaired it, but then on the Aberdeen Santa Cruise I noticed it was all looking a bit worse for wear, later on that week I removed it from the front in 6 bits!! I blame the wife, she "thinks" she may have hit something one day on the way to work when I was away - wimmin!!! However - I know that it did handle quite a bit of abuse before it gave up the ghost, couple of times it ended up on top of a kerb, once it even bent back quite a bit further than what I thought it would without any lasting problems! Would get another one but with the prodrive springs on it was a bit of a PITA some places TBH.
  6. I've got the Scoobyworld Ninja 100cel one on my MY03WRX, like you couldn't be bothered with changing come MOT time. You want 100cel rather than 200 as it's free-er flowing, and on the Newage you should pass an MOT with just this, I'll find out in November if this is true since I've removed the other 2 cats and only have the sportscat in the downpipe.
  7. Sure I saw an advert in the paper for Town & County Aberdeen where they have these advertised at £19,995!
  8. Well, was down seeing Andy F yesterday and left Port Seton a very happy man indeed! Car feels like it's flying now and can't keep the grin off my face! Run 1 - 284BHP & 294LbFt Run 2 - 276BHP & 291LbFt Average - 280 BHP & 292.5LbFt Big thanks to Wuz also for fitting STi up-pipe, sportscat downpipe and cat delete pipe and for porting & polishing the headers, up-pipe and turbo - Andy said he made a good job of it as turbo was hitting 1bar boost @ 2390rpm and full 1.35bar boost @2600rpm
  9. Am liking the look of that mate - stealthy!
  10. Don't think that was the value they put on that RB5 mate, they were talking about the fact you can now get a classic for circa £3k and were using the RB5 as some eye candy whilst they went on about what to look for when buying a classic etc - in fact they went on about how mint the RB5 was and how it's a very sought after ltd edition, they may have even mentioned £8k value but I could be wrong about that? Liked how the prize also included "£1000 TOWARDS your insurance"!!!!
  11. Yeah, I've been to the one in Livingston - went to Edinburgh for my Stag and best man organised everything through "Chilisauce", apparantly "Karting in Edinburgh" actually means Livingston!!??? We went with about 16 guys and it was fine for that, we were split into 2 groups of 8 for the races as any more would have been a struggle on the course as it is a bit on the small side, but was good none the less. Have only been karting twice, first time was outdoor up north of here at Boyndie which was a hoot so this was first time indoor and wasn't too shabby. Not that many places to overtake so leads to some interesting moves in the corners!!!
  12. There's a few "how to's" on SNet Ice section, including one that shows how to make up MDF spacers for mounting aftermarket speakers, might be worth a search? But as Al says, once you've done it once it's easy, bit like removing headlights!!
  13. Haven't done it myself but a few guys I know use fishing line instead of a credit card, but both work!
  14. Yeah, swapping a newage WRX TMIC for a newage STi TMIC is a straight swap, slightly more involved and some work needed when swapping a newage TMIC into a classic car as the OP is looking to do.
  15. Yep, there are 3 bulbs as you sadi - Main beam, dipped beam and sidelight per unit. I would also be very wary of the online selection tools and the printed booklets in Halfords as I have yet to find one that actually gives the correct combination of bulb sizes for the Blobeye. Best bet is to look it up in your owners manual as I can't remember what they are off the top of my head!
  16. Was just wondering the same thing myself, all was fine when I left work at 4:30. Will just have to wait it out and see I suppose.
  17. Do you have an induction kit fitted?? On other cars in the past I have experienced lumpy idling when I came to a stop due to heatsoak from the engine.
  18. Yep, I've also got the H&S original scoobysport design BB and de-res centre section, sounds good! However sitting at home I also have an Afterburner/H&S de-cat pipe, STi up-pipe (no cat unlike the WRX one) and when I get back from Rotterdam in a week or 2 I'll be ordering up an Afterburner sportcat downpipe - NOTE!!!! Got to love SIDC discounts
  19. In the side on pic the front wing looks a different shade of white to the rest of the car? Might just be me though!!
  20. Loads of people have done it (myself included) and I've never heard of anyone having any sort of problems. Go for it mate, really tidies up the front end IMO.
  21. Yeah, on the newage cars it's 98 RON minimum guys, it's the Classic UK cars that can run on standard UL. Check on the inside of your fuel filler flap as on mine there is a sticker that states "98RON MINIMUM", so it's either V Power or Tesco 99 for me, there's a Tesco 5 mins from my house but the nearest Shell is 15 miles away so depends on where I am as to what I use. Once when I was away abroad with work the wife filled it up with standard UL, she's not exactly mechanically minded and even she said it sounded and drove like a bag of nails!!
  22. Probably the reason they were outside the pub methinks???
  23. Aye, congrats mate, well done on stepping up to the mark!
  24. That's quality!
