  1. I am a past paid up member. I took the decision to stop paying the SIDC annual subscription because I was not getting any direct benefit from the club due to my location. I did however log into the forums each day to keep abreast of what was going on and sometimes contributed to other forum users posts. Your decision to limit access to paid-only members to the majority of forum sections is a negative move imho, not a positive one. You have alienated an avid supporter of the club (i.e. me) and I think that many of us who have in the past supported the club may well now find other avenues for our Subaru related interests. Hugely disappointed and alienated yours, Tony Heron.

The bikes reach speeds of more than 200mph in places and there is no chance for a car to outrun a bike in race conditions here, while it is true that a car can out-corner a bike a car does not sport a power to weight ratio that could be applied to the roads here that would allow it to outrun a car for a lap of the course which is 37.78 miles.
  3. Had the same issues on mine and it was traced to the alternator. The alternator was charging the battery correctly but when the car was switched off the battery was being drained to ground via the circuitry in the alternator. Hope this helps.

  6. Just got the car back after its service. Looks like the alternator is at fault - overnight testing showed no power drain when the alternator was left disconnected overnight! Thanks for sharing your experience with this issue Mike, it made the diagnosis cheaper!

  9. Same thing has been happening to mine - but I have had no joy in trying to track it down - even tried disconnecting the boot light which I understand can be a common cause.... I have been able to get by with the solar panel I got - hasn't happened since I started using it
  10. I have to agree with your OEM experience and look where I live! The only time I have had issues with brakes here (considering its not unusual to be braking from 120-140 to 40-50 more than once everyday)is when I decided to "upgrade" to what were supposed to be better than OEM discs and pads. The discs kept cracking - replaced three times in 18 months. I have found that running OEM discs with uprated pads is the way to go, and in my humble opinion, unless you live somewhere like I do, or track day your car, then there is no need to spend your hard earned cash on expensive big brake upgrades - but then that's just my opinion.
  11. Be careful! It would appear, in the first and last pic, that the disc may have a hairline crack. I have personal experience of what happens if you don't recognize this and continue to put the disc under large braking loads. My recommendation is that you sort this sooner rather than later.   12. I'm looking for some advice. A few weeks ago I started to notice that, when changing into 4th gear with revs above 4k, that the gearbox was graunching. I drove around this by holding off the gear change until the revs were lower, around 3k, or missing 4th and going straight to 5th at the top of the rev range. However, on Saturday when missing 4th and going to 5th I noticed that going into 5th is graunching too. Is it that the synchromesh for 4th and 5th are worn, or is it a problem with the clutch maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Tony.

  14. This was happening to me. I traced it to the boot light and fixed it simply by unplugging, then replugging it. Problem solved
  15. If the pic you want to post is on your PC: First you need to ensure that what you want to attach is less than 20MB in size - if a pic save it as a ".jpg" to reduce MB size. When creating or replying to a post you will see, under the "Post" section another section labelled "Attachments". Browse to the pic on your PC by clicking on the "Choose File" button and once you have select the pic you want then click on the "Attach This File" button. Use the "Preview Post" button to check it is as you want it. Hint: Make sure your typing cursor is on a line of it's own before attaching the file to the post. If the pic you want to post is hosted on a website e.g. photobucket.com: When creating or replying to a post you will see above the "Post" section a row of icons and if you place your mouse over them a description of each one is given - the fifth one in from the right is "Insert Image". Click on the "Insert Image" icon and type or paste into it the URL of the picture from where it is hosted. Hope this helps. Regards, Tony.
  16. My car has always been this way. I check the oil every time I refuel, it's done 45000 and gets it's legs stretched every day. I think it's the way it gets driven though as it is not unusual to hit higher speeds than the motorway limit in the UK on the way to work on the de-restricted roads that are over here. I have never seen smoke or oil patches from the car, the underside and engine bay are clean.

  19. I have to agree about the tyres - RE070's are the only way in that department - I only get 12 months out of a set but then driving conditions are different here. I have never had an issue running them summer or winter and they definitely help out with the understeer
  20. £71 to fill up yesterday from the orange light! Never been that expensive - when I first got the car in August 2006 it was £48! It is my everyday car and I fill it once a week, I am considering my options maybe get the bus to work or sell the car and get something that runs on the smell of an oily rag! No fun in either option
  21. What colour EBC brakes? I just put yellows on mine and I find that there is fading when things get warm - not as good as the Axxis ULT ones they replaced that's for sure...
  22. Obviously haven't passed me yet Ramsey to Douglas and back each day - always wave out hope the mountain opens again soon!
