nick_young Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Was wondering where the best place to get 4 wheel alignment done. I have just been up to the subaru garage and he told me i need to get it done because my front tyres are wearing uneven, they were charging £65 + VAT, and dastek were £45 + VAT, anywhere else?!? I also am thinking of switching tyres from Pirelli PZero to Toyo T1-R's, has anyone had any experience with the toyos. I have to say in the dry the pirellis are flawless, however the slightest bit of moisture they are useless. Thanks Nick
gus the bus Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Nick Hypertech (01324-812212) or Progrip (01324-810111) will do your alignment both around the £50 mark and both in Bonnybridge, falkirk. Not had experience of the Toyo's but would highly recommend the Yokohama Parada 2's. Excellent tyre. Gus
RA Dunk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 i have 3 toyo T1-R`s fitted just now, even with the side wall so called reinforced they are still to soft for my liking, even brushing against a kerb knocks chunks out of them, thats why i had to change one, apart from that they offer good ammount of grip in the wet or dry, but its yokohama pradas for me next time
ScoobySounds Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 i just had it done at hypertech and the car feels perfect! highly reccommend!!
boris b Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 CLCM , Tyre services , 11 Bankhead Drive, Sighthill 458 - 5559 They done mine with their laser thingy for 40 odd quid. Found that my rear nearside was 1 degree out.......Apparently that's a lot. The tyre was ruined on the inside tho...
wrxchris Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 i think extreme in whitburn are meant to be the daddy for alignment. i was running t1-r's and throw them away in favour of p zero's. much better tyre
nick_young Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 thanks for the replies guys. think im gonna need to look into the tyres more, not sure at all what to go for. might just go to the subaru garage in penicuik, even though its more expensive would probably save in time and petrol.
wrxchris Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 if u dont mind spending at bit more money on tyres, go for goodyear eagle f1's. there amazingly good.
darren_connor Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I have used CCLM @sighthill for all my cars and the set up has always been great, as for tyres im a toyo guy through and through but they are soft and wear badly. Im inclined to change to Yoko parada spec 2's as alot of the guys use them(gives me an excuse to have 2 sets of alloys lol)
scientific steve Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 if u dont mind spending at bit more money on tyres, go for goodyear eagle f1's. there amazingly good. yep, next tyres for me will be a set of the f1's, had them on most of the cars i have had and are a great all rounder

wrxchris Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 yeah, its what i fit to most performance cars at work.
nick_young Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 sorry guys, the tyres i have on my car right now are 205/45/r17, what difference will it make if i go for 205/40/r17? the guy at the garage told me he could fit that size for me aswell. thanks again.
dave_morgan Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 You'll get better acceleration, but you're speedo will read wrong (it'll read over). Over 3% difference in diameter between the 45 and the 40 series. Going for a 215/40 woold be closer (only 2% diff). PLay around with this : http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresiz2.html Another vote for CLCL from me for alignment. The guy there is great and reasonably priced. Just tell him Dave from 'next door' sent you - he'll look after you! Just make sure you book, as it's a busy wee place. He's only 2 mins off the bypass at the Calder junction.
