darren_connor Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Is it common for rear bearings to go on Bug eyes ?? I cant explain the noise lol but I know there is something not right, hoping its not Driveshaft Any advice will be greatly accepted Cheers Darren.
RA Dunk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 funny you should mention this, my car got its MOT today and the only thing that was needing done was a rear bearing, min is a classic BTW

st3ph3n Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Just had a rear passenger side bearing fixed on my 2005 Blobeye. Known weak point apparently.

chrissy Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 let me know if you need a bearing kit as i can sort one from my work, £58 + vat chrissy
westtra Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 ave recently had once replaced. fortunatelly under warrenty.
RA Dunk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Quote let me know if you need a bearing kit as i can sort one from my work, £58 + vat chrissy dude thats half of what mine is gonna cost!! [:|]
st3ph3n Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 It's a great price. I paid thrice that in labour just to have mine looked at! Which was the last straw as far as ever going to the stealers is concernd.
RA Dunk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 mine was 126 + VAT, still to find out wot bloody time is going to cost [:S] here was me thinking i was getting off lucky with that being the only thing wrong with the MOT test as well [:|]
darren_connor Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 Well my car should still be under warranty so once the AWD guys have advised me what it is i will give the "Stealers" a call and see if bearings are covered. I know that my car has Jap spec rear discs (290mm) off a SVX and speaking to Grant @AWD he said i may need the bigger bearing size, so roll on saturday ! Car ownership is never easy !!
westtra Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Quote mine was 126 + VAT, still to find out wot bloody time is going to cost [:S] here was me thinking i was getting off lucky with that being the only thing wrong with the MOT test as well [:|] mine took 2 hours at t&c acid. think there was a slight problem getting the bearing off which is why it too that long.
RA Dunk Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 still havent got my car back yet, last i heard it was all going t!ts up! []
Johnny50 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I have a rear bearing kit (both sides) for a classic if they're any use ? Bought them in error.
darren_connor Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Cheers Johnny, I Will ask Grant if they would fit, think they have to be 100mm not the usual 90 mm Daz
darren_connor Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 Turns out its not a wheel bearing, its the rear damper leaking oil ( oh Dear) Gives me an excuse to put a set of new Coilovers on lol, oh also have a leaking rocker cover gaskets and my rear drop links are shot lol Car ownership is pain sometimes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
