Geometry settings in Morayshire?

Recommended Posts

Ello,

I'm due to pick up some Prodrive springs for my WRX in a couple of weeks.. WIll be fitting them myself but I need to know where the best place to get the geometry done after they are fitted and how much it's liekly to cost.  Clearly I dont want to travel too far with the wheels pointing in all the wrong directions.  So can anyone suggest a good place to get the Geometry done near Elgin?

Would be nice to get the GroupN/Fast Road settings put on instead of Prodrive but I'll be happy with either..

Thanks in advance,

Yeah I think T&C in Aberdeen would be your best bet............they have access to the Porsche facilities and do the work there I believe.......

You wont believe the difference it makes !

glenburgie is certainly closer than abz..  Was getting worried about having to drive 60 miles to get it done.  Not good for the tyres...

Didn't realise they have the facilities for the alignment...  I'm sure someone mentioned GT-Tyres to me at one point.. can't remember who that was though.. [*-)]

Was up there one saturday unannounced looking for a exhaust gasket... Didn't try and sell me anythign but gave me a gasket off an evo for nout!  And some vinyl genbugie sticker for my car... Hope he wont be too disappointed if I didn't stick them on.. [:$] Maybe for the Speyside Stages weekend..  Bit of free advertising..

I'll maybe give them a call closer the time see what the story is..

Hmmm... Nice set of WRX bucket seats would be nice if he has any..... .. . o O (No!  Spent enough money already)

thats where i got my leggacy done about a year ago, only 35 notes [:D]. that was normal settings. am sure if u phoned to check they would set them to whatever u wanted though. proper gear: computer, lasers etc.

That sounds promising.. thanks!

Sure I have the prodrive settings stored somewhere..  Will have to dig them out again.. (mind you they probably come with the springs)

YOur not kiddin! where'd you find this one!

Here's what mine were set-up for.. They didn't actually change anything it was already set like this.. Not bad after changing the springs myself B)

FYI - the proper Prodrive setting are much the same but with a LOT more camber on the front about 1.1-1.2 IIRC But they are knows to eat tyres.. Most reccomended settings seems to be around the 0.5 range which makes sense..

Having recently had new KYB gas shocks fitted all round with Whiteline Flatout springs and a Whiteline solid drop link kit I took the scoob off to GT Tyres at Forres and here's the result

Wasn't sure this would all be worth it but I certainly notice the difference :blink:B)

am guessin no matter what no car is goin 2 have the same setup. evan tho all 3 r bugeyes.

Youll always get slight differences... Some bits cant be adjuted without remounting the suspension..

Small changes of 0.01 e.t.c are neglegable but the front camber settings where where the grip/tyre wear comes from. Some peopel set theirs up differently to the way they want it.. I'd like mine to be both closer to -0.4 but not worth the cost to get it done form what I have it set at already.. Standard is aroudn -0.2 camber at hte front.. Prodrive settings are -1.2 and the "Fast Road" settings you hear about are aroudn -0.5

If dave (Scooby222) was to post his up you'll see an example of how bad the settings can get.. His were WAY off before he got it done..

After reading this thread I decided to go to GT Tyres in Forres to get my alignment done.

I am very happy with the results...and quite surprised at the initial readings. As a few of you know I managed to buckle an alloy the other week at the fife meet so I knew the alignment had been knocked out a little. So anyway as you can see the wheel that got hit was all in the green and the rest were here and there.

All straight now. Very impressed with the guy Paul who updated me on the progress of the alignment at each step and also showed a general interest in the car and its modifications etc.

Thank You GT tyres in Forres. I would happily recommend them to anyone.

Nice one!!

Aye good bunch of lads up there.. Specially the guy who drive around in the Sierra Cosworth! They certainly know what they are doing up there and definately trusted to do the job right!!

That car of your will be handling a wee bit better as well, and not wearing out the front right tyre so much :D
