ally-b Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 (edited) Oh , and , I've sold my '92 Triumph Trophy 900 - the '85 GSXR750 took its place . . . . . I know...I know But I've still got my '97 Ducati 750SS for sunny days - its nearly done 5000miles now .......There may be another 'classic' joining the stable very soon - if things work out anyone want to guess what it is ? It is 1980 - previous year it was voted MCN motorcycle of the year - thats your only clue . Al. Edited August 30, 2007 by ally-b

I always regretted selling my 1968 T120 650 bonneville , which I owned for 20 odd years and had to sell when my parents moved house and I had no where to keep it . If I buy this 750 bonneville I hope it serves me as well , and I'll not be selling it ^_^ Al.
ryancat-85 Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Not got a bike yet but am having lessons, should be past my test in the next couple months hopefully ! Got offered an S reg, CBR 600 for £2000, its done 31k miles and pretty tidy looking, is that a good enough sounding price ? am not 2 sure on prices of bikes yet ! And would a 600 be a wise choice for my first bike, or would that be a bit big?? Ryan

Ryan For that sort of money it better be minted, i got a 98 zx6r, mint, 16k on clocks, race can and standard for £1400 last year. cbr's are slightly more expensive but shop around. A cbr 600 would be ok for a 1st bike. Another good 1st bike would be a suzuki sv650, you'd get a newer bike with less mileage for your money, either way you won't be dissapointed with the honda. As for Playsatan's new gixxer... Bargain of the year m8, bargain of the year!!! Pretty quick too... Edited August 31, 2007 by JohnnyR6

Ryan 600 is a wise choice as is a CBR600 a good first bike but £2k for an S plate is dear if its nae absolutely minted and about half the miles of the one your looking at. I would also recommend a Fazer 600 as a first bike too. Great all rounder and good distance seating position. Hope this helps/ Gus Edited August 31, 2007 by Gus the Bus

G.Mac Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) If you dont mind an old bike, for your first (cos it does not matter if you drop it) the Geeper is well worth a look, GPZ900r, cheep to insure and still a ballistic couch. With me, I have 2 yrs NCB, and my insurance for the Geeper was £116 fully comp with £50 excess, unlimited millage european cover, european breakdown recovery back to home etc etc etc, I called up about 10 days after i took out the cover to ask how much it would cost for the zx10, the said £250 plus a £15 alteration fee with same level of cover and excess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , cheepest quote I could get for the 10 was over 800 quid on its own. moral of the story is, get an old bike (even if its just a frame and logbook) insure it and add a modern hypersports on for much cheepness Graeme Edited August 31, 2007 by G.Mac
gus the bus Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 (edited) with that! Get an older bike to kick off. My first bike after passing my test was a C plate GPz600r. Great fun and only £120 to insure (TPFT) coz it was classed as a classic Shows am getting old now tho as I now insure the ZZR1100 for £89 a year Fully Comp Edited September 1, 2007 by Gus the Bus
