colin_ross Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Deadly serious, do the classic's kick ar$e or are they past it? Let's look at the evidence, Classic : WRC championship winner - Fact Claasic: Lighter - Fact Classic : Cheaper (than most newages anyway) - Fact Classic : Faster - Fact Classic : Better looking - Fact Opinions
jcscoob Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Brilliant [] I would say classics are a lot more, lets say ..... "classic" []
scoobyiain Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Yes classics do kick ar$e and no they are not passed it but i bought my newage simply because it's a newer car. Always driven older cars and now i'm making good money i thought i should treat myself.
the squiggle Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Newage is 250% stiffer...................... fact Classic is 250% lighter.......................not fact Newage won the WRC in 2003.............fact Classic won more titles.......................fact I like classics.....................................fact I hate Newage's..................................fact...........except Andyjdmsti's Colin McRae owns a Classic...............fact I own a Classic...................................fact The New New age is reputed to be 1550kgs......might be a fact Classic is 1200kgs, JohnSt is about 1000kgs and AndyF's is about the same only less cause he is ginger and built his from papier mache....fact but the last bit is slander so we will gloss over that Newage cars have toooooo many emission control system's to try and fool...........half the bbs have found this out to thier detriment Colin McRae never drove a Newage competetively.............................fact Classics are simple like thier owners.....................dubious but based on the poster.....fact I would never buy a Newage .........unless it was a STI RA or a Spec C...................FACT 05 onwards STI cars have gay PCD unlike everyone elses manly 100 PCD....................fact
RA Dunk Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 ill stick with my OLD classic...................FACT! after all it is a "classic" []
jcscoob Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 after all it is a "classic" [] ...... .............. FACT []
dan_jess Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I like both but do prefer the Classic, although ive never been in a Newage. As sad as it is to say, it will eventually get hard to find a decent classic, then i may finally give in and buy a Newage, but hopefully i will find a good classic now and always have it tucked away in the garage and brought out in the good weather. Obviously this will be in years to come when ther will be Subaru shows and the classic will still be King! []
colzo Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I have owned 2 Classic (Turbo 2000, P1) and 2 Newage (03STI, 05 STI). Turbo 2000 - never will I experience this feeling again driving a brand new car off the forecourt. P1 - what can I say, speed, handling and 2 door looks, but realibilty problems. 03STI - bit of a let down after the P1. 05STI - with the PPP on from new this is getting nearer P1 attitude. I love the looks of the Classic but my current car is defo my favourite. []
RA Dunk Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Classic = Another word for old: FACT! [] yup your right they are OLD... Fact!! but there still classics, something the newage will never have the credit of saying []
gus the bus Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Owned both. they dont build them like they used to FACT![] Classics rule!
Boyakasha Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 In our family we have had the scoobs below and have never looked back. The classics were great car in their time but technology has moved on and so has car design/dynamics. All this talk about which is better is irrelevant, Subaru could save millions in R&D by saying "boys we've made a mistake, tell the designers to crack open the classic molds we're going back in time. [] MY94 Wagon Turbo MY97 World Rally Sport limited edition MY97 Terzo MY99 P1 MY00 Turbo MY03 WRX MY03 WRX STi Type UK MY05 WRX STi Spec-C RA MY07 WRX STi Type UK
billyboy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I would have my Terzo back ín a minute. My new age is the worst experience ive had with a new car,the dealer and the manufacturer. Billy
iainc Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I had a 94 UK Turbo Wagon and loved it, modded it to give STi levels of power but as good as it was I prefer the 06 STi I have now. In terms of classics I love the 2drs the best but still rate the wagons as good looking cars, seen one at the daughters childcare place which looked the same as my old one (red wagon) and it's still a good looking car. It's harder for me to do a direct back to back comparison though as I got shot of the wagon and had other cars in between before going back to a scoob a couple of years later.
RS Grant Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 As a toy, I'd go for a Classic RA/Type-R. Fact. As a daily/regular road car, I'd go for a Newage STi. Fact. [] Cheers, Grant
STi_Bandit Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Iam happy with what i Have, Others are happy with what they have, we each buy what we like ........... FACT

STi_Bandit Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Iam happy with what i Have, Others are happy with what they have, we each buy what we like ........... FACT lol yesterday you were selling up for a classic [][] And id be happy with that too
4Hero Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 had 1 classic and 2 newages, concidered a 22b for my next purchase but it was only a concideration. The classic does look a bit dated in my opinion. I like the reliability of the newages, but not the squeeks/rattles and depreciation, and the 08 model sucks big style [:@], no more scoobies for me I'm afraid
craigy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I would have my Terzo back ín a minute. My new age is the worst experience ive had with a new car,the dealer and the manufacturer. Billy sounds like a fact another fact? classics are classic []
colin_ross Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 I think opinions will change when the new model comes out. Yes the current newage has many advantages over the classic. It is much stiffer, safer and a nicer place to be if used as an everyday car but will the 08 not be even stiffer, safer etc etc. Where will that leave the current newage? Look at mkI, II and III escorts. What would rather have?
