RS Grant Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 The weather has been awesome this weekend, Knockhill was great banter today... but the best thing about the weekend is that on Saturday, I became a Newage STi owner for the first time.[][][] I'd like to say thanks to the guys down at Ian Grieves in Falkirk for giving me the chance to snap up a brand new STi Spec-D after the original buyer decided to pull out of the deal.. So I traded the MY99 Wagon in and the deal was done........ I cant believe what a car the Spec-D is! I've got to run it in for 1000miles, which is proving very difficult to restrain myself to 4k, I'm managing though. It certainly feels like its got bags to give once I've got the 1000mile Inspection out the way. The seats arent quite as 'buckety' as the classics were, but they still hold you in place well, despite being leather. I've got no idea what the diff dial is all about or how it'll change the drive of the car, but if I did had a fiddle then I'd only be tempted to try it out 'properly' I suppose.. and thats probably a bad thing until I crack the 1000mile barrier!! Haha!! [] Going to try and take a few pics of the new machine tomorrow and throw them up on the thread.... its a Spec-D, all 300 of them are kinda the same. [] Cheers, Grant
scoobyiain Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 You are a lucky man grant, very nice car you've got there. I struggle to put my car OVER 4k so if you need someone to run it in i'm your man []
craig79 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Congrats Grant, love those cars. Don't get me wrong love the 'in your face' STI aswell it's just nice to have an alternative - enjoy[]
colzo Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Nice one mate, you can`t go wrong with one of those! The best colour too!!! []
RS Grant Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 Thanks guys, really happy with it... love the hassle/worry free feeling I've got when driving, something I didn't have with older cars, if it broke then it was coming out of my own pocket.. Not so with a Warranty. [H] Hmmmmm, modding, there is a small list at the moment.. couple of subtle styling mods planned, but certainly wont be sticking any gold wheels or high-level wings on it!! Main thing is that its a wee bit quiet at the moment, so looking into BackBox/Centre combos at the moment to release a bit of the dugga/dugga soundtrack that I'm so addicted to!! [] Cheers, Grant
STi_Bandit Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Fantastic New's Grant, cant wait to have a wee look over it in the flesh, glad your happy enjoy the many happy miles of motoring Bandito

[] Cheers, Grant Congratulations... one of the best feeling is picking up a new car, but when the car is a new Subaru its even better! BTW, now that you have the real deal, maybe you can splash out on an SIDC membership!
FerryScoob Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Congrats Grant. So is that Scoob number five now? Does that mean that you may be open to a wee ofer on the GT4 then????
dipsy Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Congrats Grant with the spec D .I allways leave the diff setting in Auto in my car
Chris.Mcd Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Congrats on the new purchase Grant.[] Sure I will see you about Dundee in it.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Nice one G-unit ! I think it would be fair to say that you are a Subaru tart ..... Spec D is very nice indeed and 250% stiffer than your old Scoobs too [Y] Get the pics up asap cal
marky.t.s Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 congrats Grant i'm sure youll enjoy it........BUT...Mr. Welsh...."now that you have the REAL deal".....i think we have been here before JW another case of ageism eh????...i am a fully paid member and i'd like to think my CLASSIC is to me, the real deal.[]

gary_johnson Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'am going up to Aberdeen to collect mine tomorrow, been waiting for a PPP kit to come up from down south for two weeks. FED UP WAITING ...considering cancelling the kit and maybe going down the Andy F route.
the squiggle Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Are you keeping the Celica? Nice car the Spec D, good starting point but i agree it is too bloody quiet Congrats
karps Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Picked up mine last week and still smiling. Im still getting used to being in stealth mode though []
the squiggle Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Picked up mine last week and still smiling. Im still getting used to being in stealth mode though [] Aye, your neighbour Jimmy the doo killer noticed the road had went a bit quiet
wilky Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Jimmy the Doo Killer hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
RS Grant Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 No longer blending in... its now sporting a Hayward & Scott Angled Backbox and Centre Section and a Green Panel Filter. I can't help it, I only wanted a Panel Filter........... ended up talking myself into the Exhaust parts while I was standing there, but its certainly released a decent wee burble!! [] Grant, I've still got the Celica at the moment, but to be honest, I'm enjoying the STi that much that I'm pretty sure I'm going to be shifting that onwards as its a bit of a waste of potential/money to have it sitting there doing nothing. Plus, if I break that, its my own money I'm shelling out to fix it, unlike the STi. Here are a few pics I took today (inc the one Col took of me spectating on Sunday @ Knockie): Still a big fan of the dials, hence the wee stages of light-up I thought I'd share with you all... haha [] Cheers, Grant
gary_johnson Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Got mine yesterday at last,,,[] Lovely beast ...lol
thewelsho Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 congrats Grant i'm sure youll enjoy it........BUT...Mr. Welsh...."now that you have the REAL deal".....i think we have been here before JW another case of ageism eh????...i am a fully paid member and i'd like to think my CLASSIC is to me, the real deal.[] Not at all. I was referring to the fact that Grant now owned a Subaru as opposed to a Celica! See, you got me all wrong man! But for the record, the NewAge is a realer deal than the old counterpart. []
RA Dunk Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 the NewAge is a realer deal than the old counterpart. [] Ahhhhhhh, MR.Welsh the day the newage becomes known as the "classic" of imprezas or has any serious affect in the WRC (which it wont cause its so gash they are about to change it lol) i will agree with you [] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .untill then . . . . . . . . . . . . . . the classic has been the best version of the impreza to date, classics RULE!!
