Thats disgusting behaviour.

Jen, (Fab1) came in tonight to tell me that there was a black ' R ' reg scoob dangerously close to her back bumper. Jen was pushing on to 40 from 30 trying to get clear of this guy but he was still at her bumper giving it big dump valve sounds. The road is littered with Islands with mid road lights so, overtaking may be a difficullt issue - but badgering the car in front to go at there speed is not on in my book.  Join the road, wait your turn, and dont threaten.

Lancaster Avenue, Chapellhall, Airdrie around 17.45pm This evening (26/02/07)

My Baby daughter was in the back of Jens Hyundai coupe !

Lest, I am not very happy here at this moment.

Partial plate :  R513 R*C

It's stuff like this that gets scoobs a bad name.

Well unchuffed.

I had the same done to me (not by a Subaru BTW), had overtaken some cars on the road back home and coming thru' the village I sat at the speed limit (30mph) and before long I had an old sh*tty fiesta right up on the bumper flsahing his lights for me to speed up, despite the fact he was only doing about 50mph on the main roads.

It's not just scoobs, theres plenty of rivers like that out there at the moment.

Alan,Jen,as i said in jest on a previous thread,"i will run my van right up this guys chuffer" Stories like that make my blood boil,as a father myself i would go absoloutly  mental if anyone drove up my ar$e when i had Ciaran in the car.

As i've told you before i work a lot around Airdrie, coatbridge, area and i will be keeping an eye out for this to$$er.

Ach I had it coming back from the Motorsport Show on Saturday. Traffic quite heavy, 5 series sat up my ar5e the whole way back to the M74 on what is a nasty twisty road. Naturally he had his front fogs on - in daylight. I've given up on seeing any kind of decent driving standards in the UK. They've descended beyond redemption.

that is shocking behaviour. best thing is to either slow down and annoy them more or just start to lightly touch the brakes and try get them to back off, or hard and scare them to back off.

Posted

Or try sticking the rear fog's on while acellerating hard!!! Tryign to fool them into thinking your braking.. :P

. o O (Note I never suggested doing this!!! it's all in your imagination)  [:D]

The thing is, do they actually get where theyre going any faster? probabluy not. do they increase their chances of an accident? most definitly yes.

what people like that fail to realise, as in your good lady's case, there are children on board. would they drive like that with kids in their cars?

i also agree its not just scooby owners that get a bad rep from this kind of behaviour, but car and modified car owners also. a lot of us spend a lot of money on our precious metal, and we wwant to keep it that way..

I'm a fan of the rear fogs brake test as well.

Lane hogs, tail gaters and those people who just don't seem to understand the concept of roundabouts, especially ones with mutliple lanes. That seems to account for 50% of road users these days. If not more.

Years ago when i had a works escort van i tried the fog light with a guy, it didnt work.

200yds further up the road when my speed had increased i touched the brake pedal,it didnt work.

200 yds further on still i hit the brakes, he ploughed into the back of me wrecking the front end of his Granada.

I bet he never tailgated ever again!!!!

Really was funny though, dont reccommend doing it in a scoob though.

yeah, I had a thing a while back with some b3ll3nd in a big roller door transit truck/van thingy, coz I wouldn;t tailgate the cars in front of me and he was tailgateing me, I did the good thing and backed off the throttle, not a lot, but enough to increase the gap to the traffic in front... he never backed off, so i tried tapping my break pedal, just enough to flash my break lights, nothing, so i stamped on my break pedal. not hard, as he was really up there like, that just made him angry.

road rage from him ensued, including rude jestures, dangerous driving on the approach to a small ish roundabout, over taking a couple of cars where he shouldn't have, then when I got past all the cars he over took in a harry and never made it past any more, as we just made it onto a dual carridge way, I could pick up speed a little,

he saw me coming and swerved accross the road, so as not to let me past, he threw rubbish out the window, to try and hit/scare me or somthing, and then at the next roundabout, he went into the other lane again as there was other traffic, so he could get to the front, and then as he was waiting for a gap, was hanging out of his window, shouting abuse at me calling me all the w4nkers under the sun, I couldn;t belive it...

after that I managed to just zip past him, peeping my horn and flicking the bird, he tried to speed up, but he was a fanny, and was driving a van? I'm sorry? you want to what? race a scooby?  Looser!

Took his number plate, called the fuzz, (not a gesture I take lightly You'll uderstand) and you know what they said? oh but he might come back and say that it was you that did somehting to him, and you could end up with a record....

I mean.... WTF!?!?

thats the polis for you, good for bo-diddly....  i thank you...

Rant over....

Oh and IMHO having kids in the car shoudln;t have any bearing to how you drive around other traffic, I always stop and think about those little signs than people have in the back of their windscreens, baby on board - like I should treat them any different from any other car on the road, well I personally dont.

The way I see it you shoud really treat every car the same, and give every one the same  space and courtsey, also, Ive found that in a lot of cases, those people do tend to be, in my experience, some of the most careless drivers on the road, not watching where they are going, taking unnessicary risks, speeding more than the conditions should allow....

 make you think like...

It really annoys me aswell.. Some people can feel so threatened by other drivers following them so closely it can cause there driving to become eratic and dangerous themselves.. However intimadatin a female with her child in the car is beyond the limit.

I feel as many the fog light and brake light trick works - just depending on the driver behinds mentality - this may make them worse.. Lol may be abit boy racerish etc but has anyone ever considered fitting a flamer kit for times like these ?? Lol im sure that would make them back off abit huh !!  [;)]  haha..

i had some plonker sweve in front of me and slam his brake on!!  I think it was because he thought i was in the wrong lane, stupid **** was completly wrong.

Had i been aware i would have just rammed the cock as i was in the range rover.

 junction...

 left lane to go left/straight

middle to go straight

right to go right.

There was a que of traffic in the middle and nothing in the left, so pulled up in the left. Light went green i sauntered off (not in a rush to race past cars etc) i got round the corner and this maniac flew round the outside of me and slammed on the brakes! He then hun gout of his window shouting, but stopped before i could open mine! Managed to have a chat with him at the next lights. Retard comes to mind. Telling me i was wrong etc. Arrows on the road agree with my lane choice.

Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone.

I have driven like a clown in the past, now that I feel grown up and drive like people should do I can now see what a dangerous activity it is.

What happened to "Only a fool breaks the two second rule" never a truer campaign led by the boys in Blue. Any closer and you really dont have time to react.

2 weeks ago I was driving to glasgow on the A80. the speed limit was 50 dropping to 30, I had a lunatic in a focus estate right up my shuch all the way along the road but I let him sit there as I was not going to speed up for him. We pulled up at a roundabout and he put his passenger window down as he drew along side and shouted "Im rushing to get to my work and your holding me up you d**khead" I had a "Monk" from The mean Machine moment as I imagined dragging him from his car and beating him with the 7 iron I happened to be taking to get regripped in the back of my car, however I just smiled politely and said quietly "Your an Ar**hole". As we pulled away from the lights he pretended to try and swerve into me. I let it go. On sunday there I was on the same journey and saw the same guy in the same car. I followed him to his work.

He was a policeman.

This is a joke why do folk have to do sh!te like this, if they wanna kill them selves then feel free to do so just dont take others with them. I just give my brakes a test when this happens to me but, if they continue to do it i will stop dead and let them hit my car coz then i will get out claim them and leather them for wrecking the ar$e of my car. if i'm in my truck i will stop the bu$$er and let them run up in to the 4 nice big dirty tyres, and if they overtake me then pull in front of me god help them coz i hope their brakes can stop 40ton at 60mph from coming through them or they get a gentle rub from my bumper!!!!!

As mentioned before in this thread, its not about getting there quicker, the copper trying to get to his work on time should have awakened sooner.

Man (Humans) are lazy animals.

Using a fast vehicle is going to get you in front of  2, maybe 3 cars.

I think that makes it 2 minutes gain on a 30 minute run for work. (is that so crtical).

Naw, the point I made was that the Missus and the wee bairn were all at risk due to a selfish egotistical B*********d who just HAD to get in front.

Still pi$$ed off, but the family is ok thank the Lord.

I've had quite of few of these people tailgate me in the past. By far the most effective method I have found which works 100% of the time is:

At the earliest available opportunity, pull over and let them pass you. It is not your job to try and educate them in the errors of their ways, and doing so will only make them more angry and more likely to commit an act of road rage, either to you, or someone else further along who holds them up.

Typically it costs you no more than about 5 - 10 seconds, which is nothing on an average jounrey time of 30 minutes+, and the rest of your jounrey will be with significantly reduced stress levels.

It means you can then drive without worrying about what the idiot behind is going to do, and concentrate 100% on what's in front of you and not behind. The car/van which has just passed you, in most cases, won't get to their destination any faster, and with you sitting behind them they hopefully soon realise this. It's far easier to avoid an accident (and the insurance/police hassles that go with it) if you can watch from behind, than if there's someone 2 feet from your rear bumper and driving aggressively.

My wife (not the fastest of drivers when the kids are in the car), used to get people tailgaiting her as she sat at the speed limit on single A roads, but yet when the road got twisty, she would pull away from some of them without trying!. This seemed to infuriate the tailgaiters even more, so I advised her just to make it easy for them to overtake, or pull in and let them pass. End result is much less stress all round, with virtually zero impact on journey times.

It's much better to be 30 seconds late getting home in the evening by letting someone like this past, than to waste hours dealing with the hassle of an insurance claim and/or the police with a road rage incident.
