Jamis Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 After giving the car an oil and filter change yesterday and replacing the rear pads it was down at AWD today to get car checked with a diagnostic, which revealed it needed a lamda censor. Once this had been fitted the car was taken out for a test drive. With baited breathe i waited on her returning and to my shock and surprise she did return.... But with the boys in blue closly behind lol.. I thought oh no the mechanic(Paddy) has been caught speeding.. but no it was because they had spotted my window tints!! I had been saying to the wife last night to that we would have to remove them ha ha.. too late tho. If the mechanic had not had his window down when he pulled up he would of been looking at 6 points and a fine anyway they radio'd to get the testing equipment down and waited beside my car so i could not move it... it failed the test needless to say and they were about to prohibit the car when to my luck they had forgotten the form to do this.. PHEW!!! But they radoi'd Forfar police to make them aware of the car.. so as soon as they left tints were ripped off!! Thanks to Grant who allowed us to bring the car in and remove the tints before travelling home again. Well pleased with the day, great atmosphere and good to meet Dipsy and a few other scooby enthusiasts. Thanks Grant for an excellent service and advice... top bloke see you soon for more mods that were mentioned today.
paddy247 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Alright M8, it was good to meet you and your wife today, The Traffic police were defo out to fill there we black book today, and luckly I had been driving about with the window down when they pulled me over. Nice grey are that one, " officer I have been driving about with my window down" or I would be looking at 6 points as you say. They were not happy when they did not get a conviction today thats for sure, whats more anoying is the Civic type R and X5 that were in the vicinity when I got pulled, both had windows as black as there paint work but they seemed invisable to the traffic police. Catch ya next time your down for some mods. Paddy.
Johnuk300 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Did the boys in blue have tints in ther car? If so then I would of ask that they did the same test on there car. The last time that I was over in the UK I saw a trafic car parked up and I could nor see in as that the windows had a thick tint on them.
Jamis Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Yes john they did but only the rear ones. Yip paddy see you very soon i hope.
ksa-cossie Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Perth police are notorious for being pricks m8,but then aren't all traffic gestapo.
Johnuk300 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Last year when me and the wife went to the UK to see me mum and dad who live in Stevenage, told me not to drive the way that i do as I was in for a shock.. Well I was in shock in one day I saw 14 speed traps, I think that is a bit over kill.
boris b Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Jeeze mate. What percent were the tints on the front mate ? I've just got 35% put on my fronts and limo tint on all the rear. Not had any problems with the traffic police in Edinburgh... It would appear that they were out to get the quota of statistics that day....
Jamis Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Its the fronts they checked and on the test thing they had it goes by the percentage of light going through the glass, mine was at 15.4%drivers door and 14.8% on the passengers door.At 35% you would get a warning Boris but in my case i had to get them off asap.
D4WGY Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Hi mate, nasty story about the tints. Don't suppose you drive the green classic that I see about forfar do you?
Jamis Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 if your on about the one with BLACK alloys then yes.
D4WGY Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Yeah that's the very same. Those tints were pretty dark, shame you got pulled for them dude ( I'm the chap that usually waves at you circa 5:30 as I'm heading up the high street, used to have the silver classic, now got a terzo. Shep
Jamis Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Now i know lol yip they were darkl and as said was thinking of taking them off,but have to say the car dont look the same now there off[:'(]
D4WGY Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I can imagine the difference mate! You gonna get them put back on but at a legal transparency?
Jamis Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Na m8 think i'll just leave it as is,cause i got a few mods to do to up power i hope. Also thinking of lowering it a wee bit more and getting wheels powder coated.
