xraydave Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Hi guys, Pretty new here, and looking for help already. Bought a set of strut braces on fleabay!!! for my newage WRX (03). front fitted no problem, can't seem to get this rear one to fit, problem seems to be the ends won't pass through the holes into the boot if the bolt holes are lined up. can anyone tell from these pics if I have the right brace for the rear? (can add more pics if that would be helpful) o any other (helpful) advice would be appreciated. Cheers Dave
Guest Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 hi have u looked at taking the ends off fitting them at the strut tops and then bolting the straight bar to each end. alan
gus the bus Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 They will deffo fit! need to undo the seatbelt tensioners to get the end mounts on properly. It does take a wee bit off effort but that is the right bit for your car. Gus
xraydave Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 Ok thanks for all the help, tried most of these things already, will have a go again tomorrow, just one last thing, which end is driver side and which passenger side, i.e. where do the flat pieces orient, to the front or rear? Dave

gus the bus Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I too had problem fitting the damn things....and then it just popped and i thought"how did that happened?" Did you get that feeling? I did when I fitted my first one Peter. Like Dave I spent one evening fackin about and thought "this aint the right one" then the next night lifted the seat out un-did the strut nuts and the fackin things just slid oan. Thats why I knew Daves was the right yin!![]
GaryD Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Dragging up a old post! Been trying to fit a rear brace yesterday but also got a problem that it doesnt seem to fit. Av tried fitting just the ends of the brace, but when they lay flat on the top of the struts they cant pass through into the boot far enough for the bar section to be attached! Is the same problem most people have when trying to fit this brace, or could it be that mine is not the correct brace for the car? Help! Cheers...

st3ph3n Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Gary the rear is a pain in the arse to fit mate. When I did mine I took the ends off and fitted them first before putting the bar in between and tightening it. You just have to make sure the ends fit onto your top mounts properly. They should only fit on one way really, so maybe try swapping them. If not then, maybe it's not right!
gus the bus Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Guys, I've just checked a newage and classic rears side by side incase you were sent the wrong one and there is absolutely no difference between them (fronts are a wee bit different) so, I can only suggest that either you have a non subaru one all together or you need porridge[] I would suggest like stephen has suggested trying them end for end or just try again tomorrow. When i did mine on the 300 I thought "nae fackin way is that going on" but had a fresh attempt the following day and they went straight on. Gus
STi_Bandit Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Ive got the same style of rear strut brace as that and i had to file the end tips off as the hit agaisnt the bulk head of the car to ensure a perfect fit. If your to climb in the boot you'll see that the metal ends are hitting the bulkhead before they line up with the strut end attatchments. Bandit
GaryD Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Cheers guys.. Will give it another go tomorrow after work. Managed to fit my whitelines parts and my prodrive springs, but was beaten by what should have been a relatively simple rear strut brace, Was a bit fk'ed off to say the least! []
