golfdaft Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Going to buy one of these tomorrow for my bugeye... Has anyone got one that they can give me any info on, i.e good and bad... Thanks Scott
st3ph3n Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Bandit was looking at them. I had a quick look but I thought the defis were much nicer. It monitors a lot but it just looks a bit ugly in my opinion.
drb5 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 They are known to be quite slow in telling you details and i'd agree with that, having had one in my old RB5.
golfdaft Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Never thought they looked that bad... Anyone got ant pictures of one in a car?? ( pod mount please ) Cheers
sheep Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Scott have a look on the second page of this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.com/group-buys-356/53...-group-buy.html there is a fitting guide with pictures. Edit; have to say that i agree with st3ph3n about the defi's looking better!
st3ph3n Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 gofldaft, you've also got the Blitz R-Vit or Greddy Intelligent Infometer which plug into the OBD II port but are smaller units. I have an R-vit which I have mounted where the pop out cup holders are in the 03-04 car (and the bugeye?). Then there's the SECS data monitor too which is similar to the PSI3.
golfdaft Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Cheers for the info.... I was looking at a pod mounted one as my lcd screen and headunit take up the space in dash, and the lcd covers the cup holders when up, sat nav on the other side.... thought pod mount would keep in cleaner looking... I agree defi's as nice but so is the price tag!! At least with these you can just plug and go.... Now it's decision time.... Thanks for the help.. Scott
st3ph3n Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I got my Defis, with pod, for £400, which was a decent price. Dead easy to fit too.
golfdaft Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Where from mate?? What guages did you get?? Cheers
STi_Bandit Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Bandit was looking at them. I had a quick look but I thought the defis were much nicer. It monitors a lot but it just looks a bit ugly in my opinion. Indeed i was looking at getting one of these, infact i was very close to buying one, as i loved the new graphical version that can do all the fancy graphs and the amount it monitors. but now its not going to be purchased for a number of my own personal reasons which were :- 1. Firstly Cost the Graphical Version that i was looking at i believe was £480 including pod, after that i would STILL have to add on £170 to get the extra sensors for oil pressure and oil temp which takes it over the price of a nice Defi setup. 2. Though not 100% essential when it comes to getting the car mapped the PSi3 would need to be detached to allow access to the port in doing so id lose the boost guauge, with a defi setup i would still have a boost guage and when mapping can be told by said mapper to hold the car at certain boost levels during the mapping session. 3. Upon seeing Stephen's Gauges they would suit my car to a T and i have decided that these are the ones i wish to optain All above are my own personal opinions on the PSi3 which is a good looking product but just not for me. st3ph3n Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-WRX-perfor...sQ3amesstQQtZkm I got my gauges from there. Very nice they are too []
sheep Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 If you are thinking about the defi's from ebay dont pay the asking price email him with an offer thats what i did and saved a bit cash.[Y]
st3ph3n Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Think there's been 4 or 5 happy customers of that fellows now. But I was the first!
golfdaft Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 I thought I'd made may mind up... Now I'm not sure... Defi's or PSI3... HHmmmm...... Dan't see too many defi's for sale on e-bay, would want white faced ones to match the wrx.... Any ideas who has some so I can ponder some more?? Scott
st3ph3n Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 White face as in white background with black lettering? Or white BFs which have the black face and when you turn the ignition they light up with the white lettering? There should be plenty of BFs on ebay, don't see as many of the older style ones though, but I will send you some links when I get home.
