Motul 50-15 is the only oil I would use.[:)]

Dont make the mistake of going to Halford as they recommend Mobil1 0-40.  I got it in good faith, but it is as thick as water.  Had it wipped out a couple of days later after talking to Duncan at Hypertech.  Got my money back though!

I started a thread a couple of months ago on this subject. Majority used Millers 10/40w for general running but for cars used frequently for track and events it was 10/60w. Opinion varies, Oilman gave some good advice though. Think it depends on what you are running and what the car is used for.

Cheers guys, a reckon the car will never get a chance to see the track (missus wont allow it) so it looks like Millers 10/40w.

Anyone know the best place to get it?

I aint no expert but both AWD and Hypertech recommend Motul 15-50.  These are experts, so thats always been my choice.  Gives more protection when still warming up and withstands better high temperatures apparently.

Also, if you are doing the change yourself, then ensure you fill the filter several times and crank the engine before starting!

Advice from Duncan at Hypertech to me!![;)]

Sorry boys, but 15W-50 is starting to get a bit thick for cold starts in the morning, so 10W-40 is better. Better still is to use 5W-40 (as Subaru recommend) or, if spirited driving is involved 5W-50 or 10W-50.

The lower the initial number is, the easier the the oil circulates when starting from cold (although 0W-40 is too thin, as has been mentioned), and the higher the second number, the more resistant to the oil becoming too thin and possibly buring up and carbonising on such things as the turbo main shaft (especially when shutting down the car when warm). The only problem with 10W-60 oil, is that the 60 section still remains very thick until super high temps are reached, and whilst offering protection, a lower grade oil such as 50W circulates easier, produces less drag, and hence more power.

I'll try and find the article to back this up.

That may be true Craig, but I cant remember the last really cold morning we have had.  Pretty mild these days.[:D]

I have been using the 15-50 Motul for over 20k now and cant fault it.
