insane clown Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Hi! mate, i was just gonna put a thead on general section, i'v just looked at a tom tom one with radar / camera detector built in and delivered to your door for £159.99........i've just e-mailed them on info and when they are open, have a look >> www.sheffieldgps.co.uk they are the cheapest i've seen so far. mark
st3ph3n Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Halfords will have tomtoms for cheap today in their sale. Don't buy any other brands as the tomtom ones are the best.
craig_harey Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 hi m8 i have got tom tom navigator 5 on a pda with the cameras and blackspots on it and it is a good investment if you need to go somewhere you aint sure off, my friend has got a nav man but tom tom is far superior.
Dougie C Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I have the old Tom Tom GO 500 and as people say it's the best investment I've made plus I'd never choose any other make other than Tom Tom. Dougie
Auldy Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 TOM TOM all thee way........ dont think it really matters which version they all do the same jus the more expensive have got blue tooth, extra maps, n few other fancy bits Iv got the tomtom one it dus the trick!!!
oobster Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 We've also got the Tom Tom One and found it to be excellent.
st3ph3n Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I forgot that I replied to this. Was typing it on the phone. I've been using TomTom for over 2 years now, firstly on my smartphone and now on my phone/pda combo. The map coverage is excellent and the interface is extremely user friendly. If you're buying their own all in one solutions rather than just software for a phone then you'll find the kit itself is fantastic quality.
scoobyfuzzy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 i recently bought a navman f20, and the only problem i have with it is the speed cameras, they come pre installed on them, but there r about 50 yards out to where there r accually on the road, fuzzy
WRC No 1 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 i use tomtom navigator 5 on my pda with the cameras installed and it tells u what type of camera it is (ie mobile / gatso ) so on and the speed of the camera is with a voice and not just a pic. wullie

The more "sky" it can see the better your position will in terms of accuracy. You could still be correct but there are lots of people who put there's beside the A-pillar and end of losing a couple of satellites as a consequence... http://www.trimble.com/gps/howgps.shtml Cheers Cal
the squiggle Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I use the Sat-Nav that is stored in my head, it has all the Shell garages stored, ATM machines, and more importantly the locations of the speed camara sites that i may encounter on my journey. Any mobile sites not listed in my head database can be easily updated by looking out for mobile camara sites and vans, the permenant GATSO's are easier to update as the are big blooming gray boxes at the side of the road.and once one comes into view i check my speed accordingly. I drive circa 75000 miles a year for my work round the sneakiest region in Scotland for mobile camara's and have collected ZERO points from vans or camaras at the side of the road although my in head database has let me down to the tune of 12 points from coppers jumping out of bushes and undercover bikes and cars wanna race the Yellow Peril
scoobyiain Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Have just bought the tom tom 510 from halfords for £240. just got it out the box and set-up at the moment so not had time to test it out. very easy to set-up i couldn't believe it. Now that i have it that means that i can attend more meets as i was not confident before driving to places i did not know. See you all at your next meet.
