MrDoo Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I have just had my Bug eye STI shocks recall done at my local Subaru garage and looks like only one has been replaced has anyone had their shocks replaced by subaru and if so were both or only one replaced.
sgscoobysti Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Is this a general recall on the Bug Eye STI ? I have one and was not aware there was a problem with the rear shocks. Shaun
craig mac Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Shaun I developed a very slight clunk at about 5mph in the back somewhere Took it down to Kev and i was told what it was b4 it went on the ramp. So they did both for me, Do not think there is a general Recall though, I may be wrong
fai17 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I ve had both of munes done before but was 1 at a time.
johns Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I've had both my rears done twice under warranty due to clunking noises. My car is not longer under warranty, so may not be included on their recall list any more ?
andrew_boal Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I have had both rear shocks changed aswell due to clunking at low speeds, the dealer would only change one at a time first was osr 2000 miles and then nsr 12000. dealer point blankly refused to change both at once and now nsf has gone common problem with newage car. coilovers are the way forward!!
Gee Wr1 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 My rear nearside is knocking. Car's booked in for 20,000 mile sevice next week & mentioned it to them while on the phone, they said they'd have a look when it's in & prob swap both the rear struts.
bigal024 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Does anyone know for sure whether there is a Subaru recall on these parts? As both mine are fooked, and its gonna cost £400 for new ones. :-(

slo2 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 mine are ok but the cars 4 uear old and done 70k so a full recall would be a great thing. Just had the bolts on the oil cooler( I think) done under warranty! Recall letter from subaru and a follow up letter 6 months later!
johns Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I don't think this is a recall on these, but I think there are some revised parts available which will perhaps cure the problem once and for all. John
bigal024 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Just had a phone call from the dealer. They are going to replace them under warranty! Well happy to say the least!
scooby222 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 guess it is the season of goodwill after all Al! while theyve got them off anyway get a set of springs on it- youl save on the rear labour anyway!
