craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 How many EVENTS sticky's do we need in general? We have a section that is laid out for EVENTS, Should these 4 not be in it?
kloon Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Aye but Craig, you know where these events are don't you . . . . []
ally-b Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Quote Aye but Craig, you know where these events are don't you . . . . [] I think these regions are the only ones who have actually organised Santa Cruise's in the whole of Scottish Scoobies. Paul , Spooks and myself , along with lots of members help , have put a lot of time and effort into organising these events . Members from all regions have contributed raffle prizes , bought raffle tickets and made donations . These events are charity events where we raise money for local sick childrens hospitals and childrens homes . They are not just announcements of monthly meets , gatherings etc . So they deserve to be posted in 'General' for everyones attention. I know that some folk like to try to create inter-region rivalry (why?) but in this case it is very inappropriate to try to stir things up. Ally.
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Ally Who exactly is questioning the amount of effort people have put in? Your point? No one is questioning that at all, and we are fully aware of the hard work WE all do to rasie money fo these great EVENTS. Charity EVENTS Should events not be in the EVENTS section? That is the question asked........ never questioned the effort of anyone So again i ask why have an EVENTS section and use up the GENERAL section with them?

st3ph3n Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 These are in general so that everyone gets a chance to see them and because they're not just events as there is a lot of other organisation that goes into it before hand, often with people having responsibilities to do things such as the buying of presents etc.. Also, only 3 of them are events, one is an annoucnement that tickets are available for a raffle. I think Ally's comment is in response (quite rightly) to Kloon's comment that I imagine is insinuating there is some sort of divide. I thought we'd got past that rubbish?
paulc555 Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I despair sometimes......[] I wish the kids we were buying for only had the time to worry about how many poxy stickies there were..[]
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Sorry Stephen i disagree with that These are events, we an events section. This is where ANY OTHER event is MOVED to. It is this sort of attitude and approach that causes issues, Dare anyone other that a controller question something on this forum? No it would appear. Same sheet diff day.[|-)]

ally-b Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I don't think most members would consider once-a-year charity work by the club as 'clutter' . It is only four threads after all , if you are not interested - don't read them . IMHO it would be better if there were more . . . . . Al.
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Ally This was raised by several members last night and today, I am only the messanger. I do read them as we all donated PLENTY to them so there is no problem there, and again you are missing the point Events area is not being used, This is the point that is TRYING to be put across Not the Outstanding work that EVERYONE has put in AGAIN to raise funds etc. So i think perhaps i will tell you AGAIN The point is "WE HAVE AN EVENTS AREA, WHY ARE YOU NOT USING IT"

4Hero Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 should this thread not be in the off topic section [] I have to agree with Stephen and Ally's comments, special events deserve special treatment []
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Special treatment yes agreed, Special EVENTS yes agreed.

craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Perhaps if i type slower POINT RAISED WE HAVE AN EVENTS AREA WHY IS IT NOT USED. [|-)]
micra_wrc Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I'm just pleased that Scottish Scoobies have enough traffic that we've been given 4 different sub-regions. I'm also pleased that Santa Cruise is happening for 3 regions in Scotland. I take your point Craig that perhaps the 3 stickys about Santa Cruise belong better in Events. It also belongs in the main section as it is more than an event, the threads are needed for organisation/notifying people of what i happening. I suppose its a grey area, just as what exactly constitutes the "Off Topic" non-scooby related chat eg are the Scottish Scoobies clothes O/T?? I dont care where Santa Cruise threads are TBH, its just an extra mouse click for me [:|]
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Imy Niether do i Imy, They could be anywhere in the whole Forum, and i agree its a mouse click As a donater to and purchaser off items that are included in the Fund raising i like to read about it too.And if some people know i even offered to be a Santa this year As i said at the start, I asked why we were not using the section for events and that was it, As the norm in here it is taken all out of context and i get slated with loads of cr4P and people totally missed the point Am glad someone see's the point, Thank you Imy[]
kloon Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I'm not insinuating anything about a "divide" Stephen, am insinuating there's a very definite bias towards the southern areas on this board and if you can't see that then you must be blind. I've seen many a thread "pinned" just to allow others to see about "meet points" etc for southern area meets since I became a member here, the September run being a point in case. May sound like sour grapes but I posted a thread just before the RR day at Dastek just saying how i was looking forward to meeting everyone there and before i'd even refreshed the page it had been moved to events, one rule for some, another for the rest ? I hold my hands up and agree that using the santa cruise threads as examples was wrong, I have 1st hand experience of seeing young ones being stuck in hospital at xmas, I was also in that position myself when I was 6.
craig mac Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Kloon i think you will find it was a Glasgow RO that dragged the Santa Cruise in to this question m8 []
the squiggle Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I want us to be one big happy family, like the family from the Cosby Show but white. I like the people from the Abersneckie area and from the Inversneckie area as well, except when the start singing to each other at 100mph then i am lost I am planning runs around the Glenshee area so we can all meet up and talk sh1t for a while, i know the last run was the Southern Central Lowlands but i do think of our Northern Branch. In early 2005 i arranged a run up around Glenshee/lecht area and only a handful of Sneckie people turned up, the run later in 2005 attracted more of the Sneckie brigade to a photoshoot in Glenshee. The next one in March is a good chance for all of us to congregate in some remote car park and scare some wildlife silly. I wish i could arrange a run up the North West coast or even up Applecross way but the lack of hi grade fuel is the major sticking block, so the best area North wise is Alford/Lecht/Glenshee Oh aye, the stickies. Not as bad as some other forums where they have stickies for "Just wiped my bum and it smelled of roses" or "Is inbreading illegal in our general geographics area"or "Who else loves thier sister in an unusual way" Solution...........Stickie for the Abz peeps thanking them for there great effort raising funds for the three childrens wards that are gonna have smilie faces cause of the guys with the cool sounding cars
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I dont really see the problem - but we could have a master thread linking all Santa Cruise threads on the first page ? ( i.e a Parent Thread containing links to the other 3 respective cruises ) There never used to be any annoying divides 12 months ago so lets agree to not mention them again.....respect thy neighbour and all that pap !
