Finally the Samco's are fitted

Finally got the Samco's fitted - just need to give the engine bay a good clean up and then it will be done (for a while). Only the new brake set-up, new exhaust bit, wheels and a few suspension tweaks (with geometry) to fit now [:P]  Believe it or not, I spent ages picking every fin straight on the intercooler - it sort of worked, but they are very fragile - much better though (although the pics make it look rough).

Anymore tips for the engine bay?  More Samco's?

Looking pretty good Brian. I have to ask though - what is that square thing left of the intercooler?

If you want show and shine you've got a bit of work to do on a few places [:D], but for a car that is now 12 years old that is great condition. Here's to a few more years happy motoring.

It is a "chimney" - it slots into the bonnet scoop (metal inside) and feeds the air straight down onto the turbo [:D]

Not going to show and shine it - needs to be driven as it should - when I start to clean the engine bay it should come up quite well though.  Not really cleaned it yet.

Cheers guys,

My email is a bit ropey Jamie but I'll log into my webmail and check it out.  Do I want the extra weight, cost etc or do I want to be cool????

Brian.

Thanks Paddy - and Grant - just what we all knew [:)]

When the car was into Andy F last month he said the intercooler was working perfectly well, even with the increased power and mods and there was no need to replace it with a front mount or big topmount unless planning big mods.  The intake temps on the gauge never get high either, even when stuck in traffic - seems to be a bit more room in the engine bay than in my newage.  The intercooler is very lightweight, quite deep and not too much different in size to the newage wrx one.  Certyainly much lighter in weight than the newage STI one I had.

Spent another 30 minutes or so cleaning the engine bay after I washed the cars.  This'll do for now - for a 12+ year old car its' looking good and will look even better by the time it is 15! [:(]

brian,

when you did the intercooler hose, did you have to drain anything, or is it intercooler off, clips loosened, etc. any other hoses attached to the underside? thanks.

i must be the only one with the strut brace forward of the intercooler .......never seen another that way.

thanks
