gogsie
Now need to decide which tyres! Narrowed it down to these 3 choices. Fan of the Goodyear GSD3 as I have used them in the past Like the Vredestein and they make good winters These are good too, As Yokohama make the wheels might be cool to get the tyres too. These wheels will only be used in the late spring to early Autumn and have a set of winter wheels and track wheels so don't need a focused winter or track tyre. So a good wet tyre is what I'm after. The goodyears I reckon are excellent in the wet but thats not to say there isn't better out there. Has/Is anyone using the Vredesteins or Yokohamas? Cheers in advance for any advice Link to comment
uRaBu5
Not heard much about these but have heard good things about Toyo R888’s. And they are road legal! Link to comment
fai17
I had yoko AVS sport on my BMW and they were good... I'll prob try toyo T1R's next Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
Toyo T1R's all the way - good in the wet, great in the dry and have a harder shoulder then the T1-S's picture above Good year get rave reviews too. Tyre deals in the member section too. If you are paying a lot fo those rims be fussy who fits the tyres dude ! CGS Link to comment
scoobyiain
Got T1R's on my escort and cannot fault them, going to get them for the scoob when the time comes Link to comment

cullenmin
The T1-R's replaced the T1-S, although you can still get T1-S here and there! Link to comment

But I have heard that local tyre fitting centres are charging a premium on Internet tyres for fitting [:^)] Link to comment

CGS Yeh I'm cacking it about getting the tyres fitted when I took off the Re70's the garage I used scratched all the wheels. I used to fit tyres many many moons ago so I know the score (well hopefully no scoring). I used to fit all my tyres myself but the place I used stopped it due to Health and safety - Not an employee and all that insurance / risk rubbish. Place in willowbank rd have the right machine for doing low profile tyres that has a little wheel that pushes the sidewall under the rim but they quoted £25 a tyre for supplying your own new tyres. They are trying to protect themselves from Internet sales but the best way to do that is not quoting £150 per tyre against £106 from mytyres. Link to comment
ANDYJDMSTI
T1R's for me too. when i got them on my old 17's i got the for about 320 fitted and balanced by Jim Dicksons in Cumbernauld. On the new wheels which are 235/40/18 they were about 500 fitted and balanced. IIRC you hail from the Aberdeen area so a little far for you to travel. [] Link to comment

But I reckon if I buy them from mytyres and get them fitted locally it will come out at the same price. Think it's between the Goodyears and the Yokohamas. [Y] Link to comment

gogsie
Gogsie Let me know when you are wanting them fitted, can get them done on a casher[Y][] Cheers for that Craig much appreciated, only thing is and I don't want to sound ungrateful or cheeky here but as Cal says I need to be fussy who fits them - have they got the latest machine for doing lower profile tyres? The problem is at 412 squids a wheel (including delivery) if they get damaged I would be looking for the garage to replace them and if I get a casher can't really expect them to do that! Send me a PM mate. It's going to be around about the 8th of December - Get home on the 6th. Link to comment
james666
hi there!! i would go for a set of toyo T 1's i have a set on mine and seem to be good tyres. Link to comment

Tried them but can get them locally for the same price IIRC. Infact I've just checked and the Goodyears are £44 dearer than mytyres and £2 dearer than local guy and Yokohamas are a whopping £96 dearer. So even if I pay the local guy £25 a pop to fit the tyres I will still be £71 per tyre cheaper buying them from mytyres and getting them fitted locally. Just shows you that it is worth shopping around. Link to comment

Get them fitted @ Altens Tyre Services - 3 of the workers there have Scoobies hence you are in good hands. There's a guy called Peter who fitted mine and torqued the bolts by hand with loving care. That's why I used to do them myself and I would put extra rubber between the bead breaker and the wheel, paper towel between the wheel grippers, use non corrosive lubricant and never use the air gun. Yeah I'm getting all excited talking about rubber and lubricants - Careful!!! Link to comment
