4Hero Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 As some of you know, my motor sounded like a hairdrier []. Something had to be done, and after Mr Gus the Bus sourcing me a lovely stainless steel center section, and Mr STi Bandit very kindly offering me a WR Sport backbox, I have to say that it sounds much better [] It was dark when I filmed this but should give you a wee bit of an idea as to how it sounds now.. Thanks lads, top work [Y]

The genuine prodrive flaps dont use stickers tho they are embosed (sp) with the Prodrive wording. Gus PS you could just get the catpipe replacement you dont have to go decat downpipe if you want to keep your emissions right and legal!?!
st3ph3n Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Welsho, you have a WRX so it will have 3 cats. Removing the 3rd one will result in more burble and power, but wont cause emissions issues as you'll still be under the limits.

fai17 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Not too bad[Y] Just be careful as modding is more costly than taking drugs[]
scoobaroo Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Sounding good Neil [Y] Dont get carried away now with all this modding, as there are unscrupulous people about who will do almost anything to get you inside their emporium so you part with your hard ernd dough [] Hi Gus how ya doin m8y [] Marty. p.s. wherz ma H brace ye promised me ????? peter_macgowan Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Good, good getting that burble back. I had my 06 STI up at dastek for the rolling road a few months back and it still had the standard exhaust. After hearing everyone elses on the ramps and remembering what my WRX was like with the Ninja I had to get a new exhaust. I have put a centre section, Afterbruner Vortex and a Green panel filter on it and what a difference. Very nice sounding indeed. Not too bad on tick over but when you open it up it sounds the dogs bollox.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 That sounds sweet - I had the same WR Sport / decat pipe combo last year and loved it ! Incidentally, I "borrowed" an Afterburner backbox for 20 minutes befor I whipped it back off. It was a joke - sounded immense but i felt like a c0ck in my works car park ( especially after I set off a car alarm) It was way too bassy but weirdly at motorway revs it wasn't too intrusive "! The ScoobySport is back on a sounds very similiar to the WR Sport BB. Just a nice compromise between burble and bonkers. CGS

Just as long as my motor doesn't start doing 15 MPG! Will I lose much MPG? Hardly the questions of a hardened Scoobie owner, are they? Oh! I already have the Prodrive back bit, that'll be ok, won't it? J
mctwistuk Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 mpg wont be a problem John. the removal of the third cat is a definite good mod. Turbo spools up wee bit quicker.

I'd recommend the cat pipe £80 and de-resonated centre section £120 for the perfect scooby sound ie nice deep burble but not being heard on the moon.[][] PM me if your interested in any of these bits. All manufactured in stainless steel to a high standard by my buddy Paul. A good number of members on here can testify to the quality. Gus
