scotsman Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 What does a geo set-up actually do for the car? (getting droplinks and ARB fitted this Friday to my bugeye). Recommendations for who's best to do this in Central Scotland and rough prices? Cheers Richard.
RA Dunk Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 try falkland, there pretty much central iirc []
craig mac Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Falkland is where i got my STi done And a dam fine job they did too[]
RA Dunk Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 think scientific steve got his done there as well and he was well happy after []
RA Dunk Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 gonna be looking at getting my own done in the near future, dunno if i should take it to falkland or to T&C ABZ, would there be any diffrence between the two of em?
craig mac Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 You will be cheaper at T&C now with the great discount SIDC members get[] They have just purchased the latest laser alignment gear, Ask Ali37 he just got his prodrive springs done and his geo done a week past Saturday. By the time you factor in the fuel etc. It will be cheaper. Also more than confidant that Kev will do a right job for you too. Best time i would say is to try and get it booked in for a Saturday Morning, On that note i have had some feedback from T&C and they told me they have had several Members now back using them[Y]

st3ph3n Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Progrip or Hypertech are both in Bonnybridge and will do it if they're nearer to you.
scientific steve Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 think scientific steve got his done there as well and he was well happy after [] yep, after the new suspension went in i had a wee jaunt down there, didnt take all that long either then had a FUN drive back home via the back roads (perth, glen shee, balmoral, ballater, aboyne [][][]) of course this was just to get used to the new set up []
RA Dunk Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 not that you would have taken advantage of it though []

scotsman Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 Thanks for the recommendations chaps. What do they actually do/change when doing the geometry set-up? Richard.
craig79 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Richard, I'm no mechanic but I'd assume they alter the tracking and camber mainly[8-)] Craig.
JohnSt Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I use ProGrip in Bonniebridge, brand new state of the art equipment, John is very meticulous, and extremely reasonably priced. I've used many people over the years on both my Road cars and my Race cars, Progrip are by far the best I have experience of. Cost is around £50'ish ---john--- Camber, castor, and toe front and rear are all setup. If I was in Aberdeen and I wanted a 'road car' setup I'd probably use T&C, if I wanted the Race car setup I'd go to Mark Hutchieson @ MH Engineering in Banchory, there's a difference between making a car straight in all 4 corners compaired to making it corner straight []
darryl_martin Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Had mine done a few months ago. Car had never felt as surefooted as the classic I had previously so thought I'd try having it done. Asked for prodrive settings, charged about £80 car so much better now. Had the car driven by someone who actually can drive fast (unlike me!!) and he commented on how nicely the car turned in. Def worth doing. As said above, camber, castor, toe etc...
Guest AlanK Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 mm i paid £30 + £90 at Extreme in Whitburn last week to get my Prodrive fixed!!! gona give them a call me thinks!
wrxmania Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Extreme Motorsport, Whitburn - Junction 4 of the M8 - exactly between Glasgow and Edinburgh - totally central! Great gear, know what they are doing and are Subaru/Mitsubishi specialists. Have done many SIDCers cars. Brian []
