STi_Bandit Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 This weekend I took the stereo back out of the car and filed out the mounts for the stereo so i could drop it back by 5mm so it was flush with the trim and i have to say it loooks fantastic now, no longer sticking out the dash, Bandit
mctwistuk Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Looks good matey. some nice handywork there
Guest AlanK Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 That looks well smart - first time I have seen a double din actually look at home in a car instead of the 'wedged in with a crowbar' effect tha most have.
stuh1981 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hi looks great, I bought a double din dvd on ebay for my newage but it was slightly to big and did not fit in properly. Mine is like yours just the screen. Did not want to start hacking away at the dash so it had to go in my wifes MX-5 instead. So I am left with the standard rubbish that Subaru put in.
gogsie Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Nice! Fancied one of those - is that the 6027? Fancied the 8027 or is it 8029 cus it aluminated red to go with my dash and also looked at the the new Pioneer Double din but waiting for the price to come down a bit, both a bit expensive at the moment but lovely kit and looks real good flush!
fai17 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Very nice and tidy..what kind is it and how mucho?
STi_Bandit Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Hey Gogsie, your 100% correct there thats the Kenwood 6027 i did look at the model up the 8027 but i didnt go for it for a number of my own personal reasons which were :- 1. The Main one being cost the 6027 is alot cheaper than the 8027 (i paid £400 notes for mine) 2. The screen on the 6027 is a 6.95" (8027 is 6.5") which means the screen fills the entire double din space unlike the 8027 where it has buttons down either side which wasnt for me. 3. Best of all the 6027 as "Neofox" will vouch is finished in the same colour as the STi Trim so it looks like a factory installed unit well upgraded factory install. Bandit
RS Grant Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Looks good mate... would have much preferred to read about a performance modification though!! LOL [][] Cheers, Grant
irish al Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Glad you like it, looks better sitting flush. Any problems with it opening now ??? I kind of miss it now [] Al
Nelsdir Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Not as bling as your telly [] but mine goes in for an Alpine h/u and components tomorrow to Skidz in Falkirk. Speakers will be SPE-17CS. Was planning on Infinity 6510CS but after explaining what I wanted/budget advice was that the Infinity are excellent in the mid-high range but without a sub they can sound a bit "bright". The Alpines are designed to run off the h/u only as well so because I'm not putting a sub/amp in [yet] they seem like a good choice. As for the Dynamat I had also planned for this but I'm going to seehow it goes without it. Advice again was that it takes a fair bit of time and effort to fit properly (think it needs to be heated to get the best fit??? or purely sales pitch from the guy in the shop...) and if the bass isn't going to be huge it's not worth it. I'll post up tomorrow when it's done. Neil
Neofox Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Have to say it looks spot on in the car, you would think it was factory fitted.
STi_Bandit Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Hey al, because the headunit opens in its own body ie doesnt flip down or up as it opens it does not foul any trim Bandit

Neil Neil Dynomat is worth it, But there are others out there that are thicker, and better to apply, Still need a wee blow with your hair dryer though[] Brownbread IMHO is better[] You can get that for around half the price of Dynomat
