dooahhdoo Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Off topic slightly but when and where are we meeting Friday? I am out straight after work as one of the girls is leaving, so I will have to meet up somewhere. Any suggestions?
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 23, 2003 Author Posted October 23, 2003 New Thread Just so the UK guys think we are really popular
Cret Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Quality afternoon's shooting there. Good work everyone, and cheers to Jon for sorting it out!
dooahhdoo Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Yeah Jim. Seconded Never thought of doing that before. Certainly enjoyed it and will do it again!
Cret Posted October 26, 2003 Posted October 26, 2003 Oh, and as a tip for anyone who didn't do too well, my approach of saying "I don't like the look of this stand - I'm sure I'm going to miss them all" seemed to have a fairly successful reverse psycology effect! All good fun.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 Nice one good day guys I was well pissed last night Yeah Jim I am gonna miss all these rabbits. Gets every single one!! Oh and very loud zorst Jim
Cret Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Cunning technique eh? Loud? It's positively a stealth scoob compared to the day before with just the downpipe on it! It'll hopefully be louder this evening if I manage to secure me a nice wide bore backbox for it too. Think I'm going to have to invest in a boost controller too if I can find a relatively cheap electronic one. That'll sort the knocking for now, then maybe stuff like knocklink & WI later.....
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 Knocklink first matey. Then a lightweight bonnet! EBC - Ebay user JapAndy. £150 delivered. Top of the range one too.
Cret Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Yeah I think I was looking at some of his stuff on ebay last night funnily enough. Surely a boost controller would be the safer of the two to get first as it means I can lower my boost limit to below the point where it starts to knock (about 14psi ish), whereas with the knocklink it would still be capable of knocking just as badly if I wasn't careful with the loud pedal, just with some lights that frighten me at the same time. I'd have thought lowering the boost would come first surely in terms of preventing an expensive boom?
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 True but if you are going to get an EBC then you need knocklink to tell what boost you are knocking at....
Cret Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I can hear it! Normally I'd be paranoid that it would still be knocking lightly before the point where it can be heard but the old RSs like mine had a notoriously sensitive knock sensor that cuts the ignition when it even hears a noisy lifter let alone any genuine knock. If I get a boost controller I'll knock it down 2 to 4 psi and then take things from there.
Kristan Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 I've still got a brand new dawes floating round if you want to wind the boost down. I don't know how far down you can take it but I'd have thought it should be low enough to stop any knock. http://www.dawesdevices.com/boost.html Not seen you all for ages, been so busy with work and home stuff I've barely turned the PC on Where's richard at the moment btw? Not seen him or Margy for a very long time!
CustomScoobyIOM Posted October 28, 2003 Author Posted October 28, 2003 Hes got your number I told him you had this
