micra_wrc Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I am also surprised at this thread and agree the majority's view of letting it be. If you're the type of person that wants to mod their car and shares their experiences then you've got to expect some banter/questions/curiosity/competition. however there is one post that i want to query.... We all know the post that started it. the ABZ lot know exactly why he has said what he said. I think Craig is annoyed at the fact that when an WEST COAST car runs well, the whole world need to know about it which if fine, this is a sharing forum after all. 1 BUT When an ABZ car gets better or faster than an West coast car (Knockhill for example), not a lot is said from "down south". Wheres there praise sharing now? 2 Are not supposed to be 1 whole community or is there now an unseen SIDC border around the Stirling area? If we are all here to push the boundaries of these cars, then we should ALL (including me) praise ALL High-modded cars..........NO MATTER WHERE THEY COME FROM. 3 ... 1) this has nothing to do with location. When any car runs well (no matter if its Aberdeen or Glasgow) the owner wants to share his excitement with the forum, post up pics etc and because most of us are like-minded, it goes down well. 2) there was plenty praise and compliments after the Dastek RR event at Dalgety Bay when it was proven Craig's was the most powerful newage at the time. Perhaps you missed it 3) I recall that you, Wuz, were the 1st to enquire why Peter's car didnt make the figures he expected........ there has been a lot more community spirit in the forum lately and I've noticed that the Aberdeen crowd are joining in more. This is a positive thing and lets not spoil it by competing with each other or by taking the "who's faster / lightest / cleanest / dirtiest / loudest" banter too personally.
craig mac Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Now that harmony is restored please delete this thread and we can all get back to talking about our common goal![] Rather than delete this, as i would imagine there may possibly be some "Mods" abused if done so. Lets, let it vanish off the board in its own good fashion. PS I smoked a Porsche at Lunchtime,[] CraiG

kloon Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 there has been a lot more community spirit in the forum lately and I've noticed that the Aberdeen crowd are joining in more. Sorry Imy, what do you mean by "joining in more" [*-)]
micra_wrc Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 kloon, I mean posting/replying on more threads, coming along to further afield events like Dastek/KH/Crail, buying the SS clothes and generally getting to know the other members on the forum/meeting up/helping out each other out. it might just be me but i've noticed that there is no longer a 'boundary' between the Aberdeen scoobs and the rest of the region that I felt at the Glenshee photoshoot last year

wrxmania Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Nice to see some friendly banter again. It is great to see so many from from Aberdeen and surroundin areas on the forums - a few years ago, it would never have been like tis - it was Glasgow meet or no meet when I joined, gradually it expanded. But then again, SIDC was not really a force in Scotland - it was scoobynet. Brian []
craigwrx Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Problem is there is a fine line between informing and what some people would perceive as "bragging" ..its the "bragging" which i would dislike and i am guessing a lot of other peeps would dislike too, this comes into play even more so on forums, when u don't know the person who is talking/typing wee example ..As many of u are aware i own a wrx300 which came with the ppp package, Stephen also owns a wrx with no ppp package, the only mods he has done as far as i am aware is the removal of two cats. Out of interest we raced each other at Crail on 4 occasions, the first attempt i just got the nod, the other three runs he took, basically the cars where very closely matched. At the end of the day we had a wee chat and shook hands. My point is, there was no follow up post to that, he could have easily started a thread follow that along the lines of "i smocked Craig at Crail" and basically ripped the ppp package to shreds....For that Stephen much respect ! not that it would have really bothered me, (althou of course he was not to know that) it was just something we had going on between the two of us and the fact that you kept it that way ... My point is,(sorry for using u as an example Stephen) had he gone on and on about it, then i feel that could have rightly been perceived as "bragging" Over the last month or so, i believe it has just got too "internal" we are going up against each other and to a point slagging each other off and also slagging the garage/person who has carried out the mods. We need to get "external" again and all pull together, work as one, share not only the good modifications but also the not so good,(may save another member the hardship and expense) lets worry about smocking them evo's ! and all those hot-hatches ! Personally i do like to hear what peeps have done to there cars and what sort of difference it has made, cosmetic mods too, "not just bhp increases"!!...indeed it gives me ideas, so hopefully to a point, long may it live...i have spent a small fortune on engine mods over the last couple of months and still buying, would hate to think that when its all complete i will not be able to share my joy with you..??? My post is aimed at nobody in particular, just a general observation .. Craig
